Bump on face that is taking a long time to heal.

I had a bump on my face. It came up looking like a white head or pimple. I know I should not have mashed on it but I did. It is now raised and filled with fluid like a blood blister. It does not hurt. If I knock the top off it will bleed heavily. It seemed to try to heal after one heavy bleeding secession, but filled with fluid about a week later. It did not bleed as much this time as the last, and it is not as raised up. I have looked at skin cancer pictures on the net and can find nothing that even looks close to this. My friend thinks it might be a spider bite. I do have a dermotoligist appt. for April 3rd. I was hoping someone could give me some ideas on home treatment that might help. I have been applying neosporine with few results. It is smaller than a pencil erraser. I have also used drawing salve in the beginning.

You may have a Staph infection.

If it is MSRA,you may have to get aggressive with it. Look up some pictures on the net and see what your sore looks like.
If it does turn out to be Staph, they might treat it with Doxcyline,Cipro,Bactroban(mupirocin) or Vancocin.

Staph is also contagious,so be careful of any pus or fluids around other family members. It may not be,but it sure sounds like staph.

My Dr. did not think it was staph. She is the one who made the appointment with the dermotologist. I do appreciate the suggestion, staph is really bad stuff.

I am still hoping for some advice on something to try on this. Today I got out some prescription poison ivy cream. I thought that might help dry it out. I guess we will see in a day or two if it has any effect.

I had a friend who had a skin cancer that would not heal. Derm had her put white vinegar on it w/gauze for 15 minutes 2x a day and that sucker healed up really fast. She's 90 and did not have surgery but the open sore closed and healed. Worth a shot. You might dilute the vinegar with water and try it. Good luck.

FireDance, Thanks you for that info. I had actually been wondering about vinegar. That is what my daughter uses on her face when she has break out. I will give the ivy meds a couple more days and if no results, I will try the vinegar. Lord knows I have plenty of time between now and April to try a couple more things. Thanks so much for trying to help me out.

I had a spot like that on my ear that just wouldn't heal up I put some monostat7 on it, the cream version, and it was gone two days later... that after suffering for six weeks with silly thing, and yeah it was painful, it's amazing how painful something can be when it's on our heads. My suggestion is to clean it good with the vinegar and then cover it with some monostat7, just don't get it in your eyes.

I guess I should ask you first what does it smell like? If it smells musty, yeasty, or cheese like then it's fungal and hit it with the above protocol.

You may also consider putting clove oil on it. It may hurt but that stuff is amazing in anti-everything.
Also consider taking Oil of Oregano and / or Garlic cloves (fresh whole, chopped or slightly chewed)

For pain, use Orajel as a topical pain killer.

First... it's possible it is a hemangioma... you might want to google that. I have to surgically remove one about the size of a dime that's on the shoulder of one of our milking cows. They tend to be sort of raised up and spongy, but they bleed *very* easily.

You MIGHT want to consider trying the eggplant vinegarite. I wrote about it here:http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?421052-more-cancer&p=4699292&highlight=#post4699292

I wouldn't leave it go too long, though... there are other potential problems which could be "worse" than cancer, at least in the short term- a nasty staph infection is one of them. But do let us know if you try the eggplant. I've been amazed at how well it works so far...

It doesn't look like the pictures of a hemangioma either. It is getting better with the poision ivy cream. It is not as raised and does not bleed when washing it now. There still appears to be a very tiny bit of clear fluid in it, but nothing like before. If Kroger has an eggplant I will try that if this does not cure it.

I am sincerely greatful to each one of you who took the time to offer help. I am writing each bit of advice down for when I might need it later.

I have my vinegar and eggplant soaking in the frig. I have a spot on my arm I am going to try it on first. The spot on my face is better. It is still raised, but not like a blood blister anymore. It is not fluid filled. It lookes like a raised mole, with a red color.

Please do see a doctor if the eggplant doesn't remove it completely! One of the major signs of "cancer" (admittedly rather a poor way to describe it, as 'cancer" is many different diseases) is "a sore that doesn't heal", or "changes in your skin", new "lumps or bumps".

And the one truth about skin cancers is that the earlier you deal with them, the less pain, disfigurement and chances of it spreading you have.

Please do let us know your experiences with the eggplant vinegarite. It's likely the only "research" we'll ever see on it.

Summerthyme,
How long did you leave it on your hubbys bump? 24 hours a day or just so long then take it off for awhile?

I taped a cotton ball soaked in it and left it on the spot on his shoulder blade 24/7

The one on his scalp we applied at night, but left off during the day.

I have been doing the eggplant treatment for about a week. Put it on at night and again in the morning, unless I was going to town. I have had no improvement. It did not make things worse either. No irritation of the skin surrounding the bump. I had hoped this would work, but really nothing.

I am going to look for some monastat and try that if I have any. Can't hurt I suspose.

Well, that's *good* news in most ways! In my limited experience, the eggplant ONLY affects cancerous/abnormal cells. It doesn't do anything to healthy skin cells. So whatever you've got going on there, it's likely not skin cancer.

However... anything that doesn't heal after several weeks really ought to be checked at some point. It could just be a cyst of some sort, or something else benign. But keep an eye on it, and please do get it checked if it doesn't vanish (or at least resolve into something which isn't discolored, doesn't leak, bleed or hurt!)

Please do share what the doc tells you, if you would. Not that it's any of our business, but I'd be VERY interested (and a bit disappointed) if it turns out to be anything at all cancerous. (I don't think it's going to, but...)

My reasons, of course, are a bit selfish- as an herbalist, the only way I can get any information on the eggplant vinegarite is through personal experiences. I know from my own experimentation that it doesn't do anything to "harmless" (normal cells) moles. And it sure did remove the only "unusual/abnormal" lesions I tried it on. But I don't believe in "cure-alls"- and learning its limits is going to take a lot of trial and error and folks willing to experiment and report the results.

I will gladly report what the dr says and does. I have been keeping it covered with duct tape around the clock. It is not bleeding any more and looks more like a hemangioma now. I am trying the duck tape. Figure it can't hurt. It is kind of like a flat mushroom now. It has a small base with a flat top that extends pass where it is attached to the skin. I do cover the duck tape with a dot bandaid when I go in public. I just don't want to explain yellow or blue duct tape on my face. LOL

Saw the dr today. He cut the stump off my face. I don't remember what the term was he called it, but said he was 99% sure it was nothing to worry about. He said it was an over growth of blood vessels. He numbed it and cut it off. I think he scauterized it, it smelled funky anyway. He is sending it off and we should hear back in about a week. I have to put an antibiotic cream on it daily and it should heal in about two weeks.

Thanks so much for all the advice I received on this thread. It was very nice of each of you and I do appreciate it.
