20 business owners is a large lot of tax payers, they have more power than the average citizen in this stand off. When the deputy can't get a cup of coffee or go back to his gym or rent a piece of equipment because he chooses to side with a dictator there will be issues. Enough business owners stand up and they health department is a useless organization. Just contact the county commission and refuse to have a business license, turn your business into a private club, a simple drafted paper and every customer is a share holder using their own club. THey aren't going to like it when the people who pay taxes start dumping the tea in the harbor, this isn't the unemployed Antifa crowd, this is the employers who start the process of tax collection to pay the unemployed Antifa member.

A hundred or so local business owners got together in Orchard Park, New York to strategize where do they go from here with all the tyranical shutdowns.
Erie County Sheriff’s Office escorted the Erie County Health Department as standard procedure into Athlete’s Unleashed, a local fitness center in an attempt harass and breakup the meeting.
Nicholas Orticelli had this to say “Stop complying with unconstitutional mandates by dictators, enforced by redcoats. This happened tonight and Mark Poloncarz ordered this with Dr. Overtime Gayle Burstein. Please share this and let’s stand against tyranny. Listen to the end, it’s the best part.”
Gym owner Robby Dinero, organized a meeting of local business owners to discuss how to survive the increased New York State lockdown restrictions. About 20 minutes into the meeting, the Health Department showed up demanding to shutdown the meeting.
What you see here are thugs for the Governor and for tyrants. This is your modern day Nazi Gestapo in America. The Erie County Sheriff’s Department sent deputies out to violate the rights of American people who are loosing their jobs and businesses over this “pandemic”. The Erie County Health Department was also present. People need to remember these faces, call the Erie County Sheriff’s Department and hold these unconstitutional tyrants accountable

The police are going to need to take a side. One side defends them, and those are the very people the police are taking away the constitutional rights of. The other side wants to defund them, and the police show up and defends those people. Soon, the police will have no one on their side. They need to take a stand and refuse to enforce unconstitutional orders...the very constitution that they swore to uphold!
Until then, they bow to whoever cuts their checks.

Again and again, I see posts here where folks ascribe altruistic motives to attorneys. My dead husband was a big deal litigator. Most of our friends were big deal litigators.
They wouldn’t touch a case like this on a contingent basis.
That’s what makes this so onerous. These small business owners are on their own. You think this is over for them? I hope so but I seriously doubt it.

originally, i had thought that they had come to the business to close it down and to make them wear masks.
that is not why they were there. they were there because the businesses were getting fed up with the draconian rules being imposed without due process, and they were having a meeting about what to do, so the health dept gets an "anonymous complaint" and brings the SHERRIF'S dept to break up the meeting.
so it is kind of a different situation than it seemed.
now, that being all said, yes. i would be upset.
if a private business tells people that they do no want people in the store with masks on, that is a private business and they can make any requirement they wish as long as it is not against the law. and i mean real laws here. that is the same as a business requiring customers to wear a mask. it is their right as the business.
to have the sherrif's dept come and tell them they cannot wear a mask is the exact same thing in reverse.
the sherrif's deputy came to break up a meeting of private businesses that were trying to figure out how to deal with these restrictions and they (the businesses) were coming up with a game plan. the gov didn't like that, and sent the health dept as the "official reason" as to their (deputy and health dept) presence there. they sent the sherrif deputy as intimidation. when the business tells them to get off his private property, screwball deputy (who is supposed to get the offender off the private property and side with the business), instead sides with the health dept drone. they try intimidation and the businesses were having none of it. they tell the deputy that they need to do their actual job and remove the offender (drone). obviously, they don't. so then they tell the deputy that unless they have a warrant, they all need to leave. the deputy then says they do not need a warrant, and that is when they remind him of his job and it gets louder and they make it clear they will not comply.
that is the quick sum up of what the video had. i'm going through all of that again so we don't get mixed up with the players and situation.
ok, so if a private business had put up a sign that said that customers could not wear a mask in their establishment, i would support it, as much as i dislike it. it isn't a dislike because i so badly want to wear a mask. it is a dislike out of principle. but, it is also a private business and they have the right to do as they please and have that requirement in their private property and business. i then have the choice to do business with the establishment or not or to talk with the owner and come to an agreement or not. it is the same situation we have currently where businesses are requiring masks to enter the establishment. i may not like that, but it is a private business and they can do as they wish.
the part that makes this as problem is the government's involvement at all. if a private business wants to put a rule for customers to conduct business, that is fine, regardless of what i think of it.
for the gov to impose a rule on the business, without the due process of an actual law, that is a whole different can of worms and not ok. one of the men even says this, basically. the deputy tried to make it sound like they were breaking the law. they knew they were not, and told him so. when he again says they are, the man tells him to arrest him, and to tell him the charges. that stumped the deputy because he knew he had no leg to stand on. the man then asks what law had he broken and when the deputy could not give him the law, they tell them to leave.
when this started, i had wondered how this was going to square with the many, many counties in the usa that actually have laws that say you cannot wear a mask (usually with a specific definition of which kind of masks) out in public. there are those laws, and the biggest reason is so that people cannot hide their identity as they break another law. this suddenly didn't seem to matter anymore. again, different can of worms.
there are no laws that say people must wear a mask. the state legislatures have not gone through the proper channels and actually made a law. if a private business had a rule that said that patrons could not wear a mask while in the store, that is fine. for the gov to come in and say that you cannot have a rule that says patrons must not wear a mask and then starts to try to intimidate the owner and tell them they are breaking the law.....yes, i would be just as angry.

This was epic but....at the end the health department wins...always. If you own a food service business they are the last say so in any issue. These people are done and out of business shortly, but that's fine. They stood their ground.
The county health department is the most powerful entity a business has to deal with that is not tax related.
The only two women I give extreme caution to are my wife and the local health department lady.

when people worship money, we get things like this. the cops seemed to be uninterested in being there, yet there they were. the boss said to do something and waved a dollar at them. they stood there for 5 min trying to be the muscle for karen because of money.
if you show up to enforce an illegal order that you do not believe in, you are only serving and protecting a check.

they (gov) have gone far outside their actual authority and have pushed many to their breaking point. as the man says in the beginning, he personally knows of people that have committed suicide as a direct result of this entire mess as they could not keep their businesses, feed their families, and pay their bills. it is a very dangerous time now. if people are pushed to their breaking point, that's when it starts to get ugly. i totally agree with you that the gov will now attempt to control by underhanded methods under the guise of legality. i;m pretty sure they are expecting it as well.
i am also expecting that the thin veneer is about to vanish into the ether.

when people feel like or think they are boxed in and have no options and it looks like their life or that of their people is in jeopardy, that is when a person is most dangerous.
the civility, laws, reasonable behavior, giving a pass, etc. all go away when this happens.
people are seeing that no matter which way they turn, no matter how they try to stay in a good light with gov and follow the rules, it doesn't matter. in the immediate, that can cause some anger and then sorrow. but once they start to extrapolate out from their current situation and see that not only themselves, but their children and spouses and friends and towns and so an and so on are in the crosshairs and that there is no way to get out of it, that it isn't that you have broken some rule that was made up but that it is you....your very existence and that of your loved ones and the very base of your culture and society and who you all are as a people is what is offensive, and that nothing except your existence ending will stop the assault........that changes things a great deal in most everyone's minds and understanding.
