This article is not incorrect but it lacks some context. Researchers created a chimeric virus with a BA.1 Omicron Spike protein within a 'Wuhan' early pandemic backbone. The chimera killed ~80% infected mice, Omicron none, but the 'non-chimeric Wuhan strain' killed 100% mice.

Thus, the chimeric virus was far more virulent than Omicron in mice, but probably less so than early pandemic strains. It also confirms - something we suspected - that the reduced virulence of Omicron lineages is not only due to mutations in the Spike protein.

Omicron-Wuhan recombinants are unlikely to create super-lethal strains in humans. We know of several natural Omicron-Delta recombinants with the XD and XAW lineages having a BA.1 and BA.2 Spike protein within a Delta genomic backbone, respectively. Those lineages are gone now.

To summarise, this study doesn't report a 'super-lethal' strain and similar chimeric viral strains (with a Delta rather than a Wuhan backbone) emerged naturally and have been in circulation at low frequency for a while.

I'm not implying studies such as this one, using 'live' chimeric viruses should be performed as the risk / benefit balance generally doesn't feel overly convincing to me. This being said, this specific study is not as worrying as might seem at first.

I anticipate the controversy around engineered chimeric live viruses will heat up further in the future, and I'd be surprised if we didn't end up with an outright ban on such lab experiments in the end.

Role of spike in the pathogenic and antigenic behavior of SARS-CoV-2 BA.1 Omicron​

Abstract

The recently identified, globally predominant SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant (BA.1) is highly transmissible, even in fully vaccinated individuals, and causes attenuated disease compared with other major viral variants recognized to date1–7. The Omicron spike (S) protein, with an unusually large number of mutations, is considered the major driver of these phenotypes3,8. We generated chimeric recombinant SARS-CoV-2 encoding the S gene of Omicron in the backbone of an ancestral SARS-CoV-2 isolate and compared this virus with the naturally circulating Omicron variant. The Omicron S-bearing virus robustly escapes vaccine-induced humoral immunity, mainly due to mutations in the receptor-binding motif (RBM), yet unlike naturally occurring Omicron, efficiently replicates in cell lines and primary-like distal lung cells. In K18-hACE2 mice, while Omicron causes mild, non-fatal infection, the Omicron S-carrying virus inflicts severe disease with a mortality rate of 80%. This indicates that while the vaccine escape of Omicron is defined by mutations in S, major determinants of viral pathogenicity reside outside of S.

And keep in mind that this is only ONE lab admitting to this. How many more are there that we don't know about? Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Probably not, this variant is a concern with people that took the shot as it appears that the shot(s) result in the inhibition of the production of N antibodies. In other words "vaccinated" people will not mount a immune response, (your body won't recognize it's being attacked). "Non-vaccinated people will, for the most, part cruise through this infection, (once it gets into the general population). On the other hand, our military has the potential to be completely and totally decimated, along with the rest of our society.
See now, my mind went in a totally different direction. If it does indeed take out the vaxxed, and the ultimate goal is population reduction, why would you think that you are safe if you didn't get jabbed? Could there be a little something "extra" in this Frankenstein's monster just for everyone that did not comply?

But see, there are no guarantees here. Viruses are opportunistic creatures. With each generation, they mutate to adapt to their surroundings to be a more efficient at infecting. So with each "ring" a virus will change and may not resemble the original. Any "surefire" antidote in the beginning probably won't be so surefire by the time the virus has reached the inner circle.

US researchers have developed a new lethal Covid strain in a laboratory – echoing the type of experiments many fear started the pandemic.

The mutant variant — which is a hybrid of Omicron and the original Wuhan virus — killed 80 percent of mice infected with it at Boston University.

When a similar group of rodents were exposed to the standard Omicron strain, however, they all survived and only experienced 'mild' symptoms.

The scientists also infected human cells with the hybrid variant and found it was five times more infectious than Omicron.

This suggests the man-made virus might be the most contagious form yet.

Those that are part of this should lose their jobs and be black listed throughout this country.

If they used any federal grant money for this dangerous work they broke the rules and possibly laws for doing enhancement work on known disease organisms.

Intestinal Fortitude never asked if Ivermectin and D would "cure it". He asked if they could stop it, which is a good question.
