Biden on High Gas Prices: You Can Save Money if You Buy Electric Cars

Charlie Spiering3-3 minutes 11/23/2021

President Joe Biden promoted his efforts to lower gas prices on Tuesday, but he reminded Americans they would save more money on gas if they owned electric cars.

“For the hundreds of thousands of folks who bought one of those electric cars, they’re going to save $800 to $1000 in fuel costs this year,” Biden said, referring to the $112,595 electric Hummer pickup he test drove at a General Motors factory in Detroit earlier this month.

The president appeared frustrated that some Americans continue blaming his environmental agenda for higher gas prices, dismissing it as a “myth.”

“My effort to combat climate change is not raising the price of gas, what it’s doing is increasing the availability of jobs,” Biden insisted.

He claimed his government subsidies for green energy and electric cars would only help Americans get jobs and save more money.

“Let’s do that. Let’s beat climate change. With more extensive innovation and opportunities,” Biden said, claiming the economy would be “less vulnerable to these kinds of price hikes” on fossil fuels.

The president notably suspended all federal leases on oil and gas and shut down the Keystone XL pipeline after taking office, which hurt the amount of domestic oil production.

Domestic oil production was on a steady rise in the United States when former president Donald Trump was in office until the coronavirus pandemic hit. Domestic oil production continues to lag even though the demand for oil has recovered.

Biden still has no plan to increase the domestic production of oil, but he frequently complains that OPEC+ nations are not releasing enough oil to the world.

The president has also resisted leveling an export ban of oil from the United States or loosening blending regulations and standards to alleviate the cost of production.

Biden announced plans to release 50 million gallons of oil from the Strategic Oil Reserves to help lower prices but cautioned Americans it would take a while to have an effect on gas prices.

“While our combined actions will not solve the problem of high gas prices overnight, it will make a difference,” he said. It will take time, but before long, you should see the price of gas drop where you fill up your tank.”

Biden’s efforts did not immediately have the desired effect on the oil market as prices rose over three percent per barrel on Tuesday morning after his announcement.

....Would you like fries with that? Suggestive selling was mandatory at my first fast food job. I hated asking when 90% of customers said no.

There's no chance that the average American citizen will ever be able to afford an electric car and the infrastructure necessary to keep them functional. That so many people have fallen for such blatant BS is ridiculous. So FJB! This is all about making money for their elite as they crash the system.

What comrade Joe doesn't realize is that EV owners are dumping them as fast as they can. The chip shortage is ensuring Tesla has an 8 month wait for delivery of a new Tesla. Owners are taking advantage of this by selling them as fast as they can. I looked at 17 of them, a near 50 50 mix of model 3's and Model X's from last Wednesday to today, all low miles. Looked at 3 Nissan Leafs too-probably the highest quality EV available in the US.
People are flipping these and pocketing the money. The sellers could care less about going electric or thinking green. They're just a bunch of hipsters who bought supposedly cool cars and are making bank on flipping them. And they're salivating at all the money Comrade Joe is throwing at them; those incentives just makes them that much richer.

the solution is to carry a gas powered generator in the trunk to charge the battery

Don't laugh. Tesla has service vans for roadside assistance (which are incidentally Sprinter vans with either gas-or diesel powered. They all have small generators in them (gas powered) attached to a quick charger. They're there to charge up the vehicles enough to get them back to one of their "service centers".
While Tesla is putting up lots and lots of new charging stations nationwide; not once have I heard how power generation to these chargers are being enhanced.

Is Joe going to buy me one of those electric cars?

We need a new truck.

My wife, who is a Senior Systems analyst in HIR is a country girl so she retains some decent mechanical skills from her youth. Having said that, she's been trying to figure out how this E-vehicle infrastructure is going to magically appear and keeps asking me to explain it.

I keep pointing her to the info on diesel pickups I have 'laying around'. Truthfully I like the idea of the F150 hybrid 4WD but I'm not sure that will happen. The more I read about JB & his E-vehicle pipe dreams, the more convinced I am sure Soros et al have a huge ownership position in this crap and JB is on his speed dial.

I might own an electric golf cart if I lived in some sort of senior center, like The Villages, but an electric car, no.

A hundred feet maybe. Down a ski slope. These are boutique cars made for blue cities.

Yes they are. When I look at these, we look top and bottom. And these cars look factory fresh underneath.
And on any of the Tesla models, that fragile, puncturable battery pack low of the ground (as their ad copy states, "for a lower center of gravity and better handling") has a 3 mil thick sheet of PVC protecting it.

Yes you know, the plastic that makes 99 cent flower pots; just thinner than the flower pot. 3 mils is about the thickness of a construction type 44 gallon trash bag.
Oh, and that PVC "guard" is fastened with plastic fasteners. like the ones that hold the inside door panel to the door itself. That "shield" covers the underside from front to back.

Quality I tell ya. Quality............

Hunter Biden’s Firm Helped China Get Control Over Vast Cobalt Mine In Africa: Report

The Hunter Biden's investment company assisted a Chinese firm in purchasing one of the world's vast African cobalt mine from an American corporation, citing a report by The New York Times, Fox News reported. Biden's company which was involved in a 2016 agreement, granted the Chinese firm to have control over the cobalt mine, a mineral required for the creation of electric vehicle batteries, as per the New York Post.

In the year 2013, Hunter Biden started the company named, Bohai Harvest RST (BHR) Equity Investment Fund Management Company along with two other Americans and a few Chinese associates. The American members owned 30% of the Shanghai-based firm and joined as the board of directors.

China Molybdenum now owns 80% of the total Cobalt mine
Further, in 2016, Biden's firm signed a deal of $2.65 billion transactions to transfer a Congo cobalt as well as copper mine from American-based mining company ‘Freeport-McMoRan’ to a Chinese company ‘China Molybdenum’. Later, BHR acted as a minority shareholder in the $1.14 billion purchase of shares from Lundin Mining of Canada, which controlled a piece of the Congo mine, Fox News reported. As per Hong Kong documents, China Molybdenum then purchased BHR's mining shares two years later with a total worth of $3.8 billion. China Molybdenum now owns 80% of the mine, with Congo's government mining firm holding the remaining 20%.

In addition to this, according to The Times, Biden owned 10% of BHR via Skaneateles LLC, a Washington-based firm. Meanwhile, Biden's lawyer, Chris Clark, claimed Hunter Biden no longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly, in either BHR or Skaneateles," and Chinese documents showed Biden was not on the board of directors as of April 2020, Fox News reported.

As per the New York Post, during the time when the agreement was inked, Hunter Biden's father, President Joe Biden, was the vice president in office. The Times even reported that a White House spokeswoman claimed Joe Biden was unaware of his son's role in the transaction. Moreover, the mine is considered to be the major source of cobalt in the world, and Biden's White House noted in June that China's dominance of the mineral "presents a critical vulnerability to the future of the U.S. domestic auto industry."

Meanwhile, the media continues to focus on Hunter Biden's business links, notably his activities with China. President Biden specifically mentioned China's rising cobalt supremacy as a tripping barrier to America's plans to switch from gasoline to electric vehicles, as cobalt is a vital component of electric car batteries, Fox News reported.

Dodge did a soft hybrid with the Ram pickups. It's available but nobody orders them. GM did a hybrid Silverado pickup around 2008-2009. It was quietly discontinued due to lack of sales.

The F-150 EV truck is actually pretty nice. It's built to a price so it's not optioned like these pickup trucks masquerading as mobile living rooms and entertainment centers. But it's nice, has great!!! performance, 4wd performance is just like a gas F-150, and actually hauls and handles a load. Attach a trailer with some weight to it and range drops by 1/2. EV makers haven't figured out how to pack more energy in the battery packs for pickup use.

If she wants an EV, steer her to a Nissan Leaf (jewel like build quality on the new ones) or a Chevy Bolt (with the battery pack recall done). Both have hatchbacks, drive steer and stop well, and have regenerative braking that feels "normal". Regen mode in a Tesla feels like you're driving along, take you foot off the gas pedal and it feels like you've thrown an anchor out.
