When I was growing up my mom always had the radio on to KRDI her country station. I remember some of those songs from way back. I don’t listen to country music anymore because they all sound the same.

Back then I was more a Hard rock, metal listener. Still loved Willie and took my mom, her friend, and one of my buddies to New Jersey to see him play. The thing I remember most was having to pee on the way home and my mom was driving (I was drinking) and she would not pull over till we were way onto Long Island. Finally on the side of Long Island Expressway 495 I was able to relieve myself. Great concert by the way!

I watched him on tv frequently back in the 60’s. Always on a local tv show sponsored by a furniture company that was perpetually “going out of business”. He wore a suit and tie as all performers did back then, except Porter Wagoner of course.
