Yet another "unbiased" opinion from a news paper in my area. They ran a two page ad endorsing Obama for President.

Mods, feel free to move this anywhere you want, it doesn't really matter.

http://www.star-telegram.com/225/story/996463.html

As far as I'm concerned, this thread can go directly to the political area because I believe America is going to get what it asked for.

At least slightly more than half of them.

They drank the kool-aid. They've been mesmerized. I don't know what or how. I do know quite a few people shaking their heads saying "I DON'T GET IT."

While slamming Palin's lack of experience for running as a VP, the media glosses over Obama's lack of experience. Even though if you compare the two, she has more experience than he has.

Obama escapes the ridicule because people are afraid of being labeled "racist".

At a time when the World's greatest threat is the Islam Extremists, America is prepared to vote in a man with a Muslim background and name.

In a time of recession, America is going to vote in a man and party who will repeal tax-cuts and raise taxes in a time when economic stimulus is needed, not anti-stimulus.

America, in it's haste to vote for anything that is not BUSH has chosen the greater of two evils.

I voted and it wasn't for Obama.

When everything turns to s*** in America, though little solace, I won't waste my time saying "I told you so." I will spend all my time and energy in trying to survive the decline and fall of a once great nation.

If I'm wrong then everyone can make fun of me.

If I'm right, don't come around my house sheepishly telling me I was right and expecting help.

Maybe, just maybe, this is all part of GOD's plan. I mean floods, plagues; leading people around for 40 years and killing your own son have been part of the plan. This may be the last part as the scripture prophesies start coming true.

In that case, we can take comfort in knowing the end is near and there is a reason for the madness that has swept the nation.

Be prepared to have less money with ever increasing slices of the money you earn going to people who did not work as hard for it.

Be prepared for socialism, it's coming.

Be prepared for tensions in the Middle-east escalate out of control once the US is unilaterally pulled out and it becomes a free-for-all.

Be prepared for the destruction of Israel as the start of the end.

Be prepared to turn in your guns or die trying to defend your Constitutional right to have them.

Be prepared. It's coming and you asked for it.

That is interesting. The Dallas Morning News (the liberal rag in Dallastown) owns the FTW Star Telegram and they endorsed McCain.

The Dallas Morning News is the Conservative voice of Texas. The Belo Corporation has never been described as Liberal.:lkick:

The Ft Worth Star Telegram or startlegram as we used to call her is owned by The McClatchy Company.

If you live in Addison you must have moved to Texas from New York City or something.

The Dallas Times Herald was the less conservative newspaper in the Dallas area until the DMN ran them out of business.

Don, DMN is no longer the voice of any form of conservatism here in Texas nor is Belo.

And my mistake on the StarTelegram ownership - it is McClatchy/Maloney Families. And no, Texas girl here....love to visit NY but where ever I go, I can't wait to get back to Texas.

5 Generations a Native Texan and lived the first 55 years in North Texas. Grew up in Irving and then lived in Highland Village and bought a farm in Farmersville in 1991. Sold the farm and went on the road in 2001 before settling (at least temporarily) in the Florida Panhandle.

Several family members have and do work for Belo and I worked at one time for the Dallas Times Herald.

Only someone without access to other sources of news would claim the DMN is not ultra conservative.;)

You are rude. Maybe my idea of what constitutes true conservatism is not your idea. And I have lived here all my life though clearly not as old as you are.

Rude? :)

Here is the Liberal newspaper in Dallas:

http://www.dallasobserver.com/

The Dallas Times Herald was considered Liberal because it refused to run the full page ad from H L Hunt the Sunday before JFK came to Dallas that was very critical of Kennedy at the same time a handbill was being circulated suggested he was a traitor to America.
The Dallas Morning News ran the ad.

Liberal newspaper...that is an Ultra leftist piece of crap, it might be palatable if it were a liberal rag. ;)

Never saw that ad in the newspaper Fulltimer, I didn't learn to read until a few years after that was printed.
What? I heard Carrollton/Farmers Branch had a pretty good school district. You must have been one of the unlucky ones to go to Dallas ISD.

Hillcrest or TJ?

So, on a scale of one to ten rating the conservativeness of the papers where would you place the Observer?

How about the Dallas News?

Cute Don...with the zingers that is. I was a mere babe in diapers when that article was published was what I meant. Has nothing to do with where I went to school.

Observer on a scale of 1 to 10 for being conservative -- about a 21. With 1 conservative and 10 liberal.

Dallas News grew up reading that paper every morning until they started being Clinton proponents and for illegal immigration. DMN conservative rating: 7.

I don't think there is a decent conservative rag in print in America any more.

And your opinion? Observer vs DMN vs Startlegram?

The newspaper I work for in Florida is a Freedom Newspaper and the ownership is very Libertarian in philosphy. It is a very conservative newspaper but the complaints I field are that it is too liberal from the conservatives and too conservative from the liberals.

That lets me know the paper is presenting a balanced viewpoint for the prevailing political spectrum in the area.

For the metroplex it would be the same. Belo Corporation is ultra conservative and McClatchy is moderate to conservative.

The Observer is an alternative publication meant to counter the viewpoints of the DMN and is liberal to moderate.

On a scale of one to ten nationwide I would rate Belo as a 2 and McClatchy as a 4 and the Observer as an 8.

In order to determine the ratings one has to examine the editorial positions of each newspaper because most of their news stories are from wire services and are mostly apolitical.

News stories are one thing, but most of the columnists I read appear to have steered DMN toward the liberal side of the political spectrum, IMHO.

Appreciate your measured input on the papers' in question conservative scale ... I still do not agree that Belo is ultra conservative.

Freedom Newspaper have an online version? ...I'll check it out. I really don't have time for a paper at this point so I get most of my reading done online and mainly stick with WFAA and the DMN websites. What can I say, old habits are hard to break.

I read the Dallas News daily http://www.dallasnews.com/

For breaking news stories I read:
Yahoo http://news.yahoo.com/i/578
CNN http://www.cnn.com/
Breitbart http://www.breitbart.com/

I seldom read any columinists because I generally can make my own mind up about a story and don't need their filter.

I do miss Joe Bob Briggs and his drive in movie columns though.

For my Joe Bob fix I go to the Wittenburg Door http://www.wittenburgdoor.com/

Oh yeah. A list of the Feedom Publications:http://www.freedom.com/newspapers/community.html
