Thank you all! Ellie was born at 11:46. Mom and baby are in great shape. Everyone has been fed (already had a major poopy diaper, which promptly made her decide she was hungry again!) And is now tucked in to try to get some rest.

It's going to be exciting when the two older ones wake up!

I'm going to crash. Thanks again for the prayers. They work!

Belated prayers for all involved. Have the two older daughters seen their sister yet?
Oh, yes! She's been hugged and kissed, and saved from loving mauling several times! Of course, the mechanics of it all fascinates them, with the 2 year old gleefully informing me "the baby came out of mama's vagina!" Of course, they will repeat this- to their parents mortification, at every chance, including at church or the supermarket! I think I need to help them practice what to say to people who compliment her! LOL!

The girls are very happy, because they have insisted all along that the new baby MUST. be a girl. The adults were sort of hoping for a boy to carry on the family name... all except DS, who confided in me that he was hoping for another girl... he adores his daughters. And he treats them very much like he would a son... they go everywhere and do everything with him, and the older two are very mechanical already. (The oldest, at 20 months, rearranged all of DS'S shop drawers one afternoon, and he said she actually had everythung categorized quite well... cutting implements together in one drawer, etc!)

Today we need to get Ellie to the pediatrician to get checked out. Need to go to the town clerk's office to get her birth certificate. And I think I need to make a Wal-Mart run for some mittens, a couple of hat's (we had a hard time getting her warmed up last night... it's winter here, and their house is brand new and snug, but they're all warm blooded and usually keep it pretty cool.

They lost all their infant clothes when their house burned in 2019. If I was home (or if we had moved my sewing machines and supplies before this, but I've been putting that off so I could do holiday sewing) I coukd whip up anything she needs in a hurry, but I guess it won't hurt to give the evil empire a few BUCKS.

Thanks everyone! I'm absolutely certain that prayers help.

This too shall pass.
Your son sounds like one of my brothers-in-law who has two daughters. He taught them all the 'boy' skills -- building and fixing houses, mechanic stuff, hunting and camping. He has been a great dad, and has a couple of great girls (my favorite nieces, LOL! LOL because they are also my only nieces, but they really are special). Kids, both boys and girls, grow up so much better with that kind of time with their dads.

Thank God and thank you for sharing your joy. What a shame that such good news gets buried so fast on the board these days, but Ellie picked a tumultuous time to arrive. :D

Everyone napped except grandma today... kept up (barely) with the 2 and 3 year olds. Meanwhile, DS was tearing his hair out.

DDIL's midwife was no problem... when informed of the fait accompli, she quizzed her on the details and promptly declared there was no reason to risk COVID exposure by coming in to be checked.

But the pediatrician! I really did want Ellie checked by a professional... my amateur exam revealed no problems, but her color was a bit duskier than I liked into early morning. I think she was still a bit chilly, as her nailbeds and lips were nicely rosy. But they couldn't even give them an appointment until they had the paperwork all filled out... And it MUST be faxed: no, they couldn't e-mail as an attachment or drive to the office and deliver them. DS doesn't have a fax machine.

We figured out a cellphone app, sent them out- and it wouldn't go through! Fiddled around for about 4 hours before their blasted fax machine came back online!

So, the end result is she still hasn't been seen. But her color is wonderful now... Nicely rosy, except when she cries, when she turns the color of a tomato! And they do have an appointment tomorrow morning, so it finally worked out. But we were all stunned at the bureaucratic mindset that literally puts an at-risk newborn below the need to have the paperwork transmitted in the proper form!

I rue the world this little innocent was born into.

Congrats!! Sorry for the frustration about the pediatrician, but hope it is all sorted out now! Welcome to the world, little one - such as it is.

In the midst of this macrocosm of insanity in the election, riots, BLM, antifa, proud boys, world situations on the verge of wars, etc. God once again shows his faithfulness in the microcosm of this blessed birth. He's still got us covered. Congratulations to everyone involved and prayers for a wonderful life for our newest Timebomber. :)

That is utterly ridiculous! That would make me switch to another doctor.
I hope baby and mom continue to do well.

Congrats on the safe birth, the healthy mom and newborn, and the happy sisters!

Fwiw, our daughter (now an adult and living on her own) once accused us of "raising her like a boy", lol!
