I am considering getting one of those Nesco electric canners to use for small batch canning during the cooler months. Does anyone have one?

Yes, I do often. I love it. Easy to just quickly can things without all the ruckus of traditional canning. Great way to take advantage of sales too. Buy extra produce or meats while they are priced lower and can'em up!

I absolutely love the Presto version of this pressure canner. I've had it for a while now. At first I did not like that I can only do 5 quarts at a time, but now I actually prefer it.

I make a batch, run it and just open the lid after it is all done. I let everything just sit for 24 hours and pull the jars out later.

Before when I would do my canning, I would effectively take up the entire cabinet. Now I just take up about the space of the canner with just a little area around it.

I don't have a large garden, but we do grow some of our own veggies. With my electric canner doing smaller loads, it's just right for us. 8 pints or 5 quarts at a time. Mine only takes up the space of the canner itself on the countertop. The rest of the work is done on the stovetop.

Another thing I like about mine. I have a sturdy table in my laundry room. I can use it for my canning, too. Just plug the canner in wherever there is an outlet. Doesn't mess up or take up room in my kitchen at all.

Mine can also be used for water bath canning. It has instructions for both.

My Presto as well (both water bath & pressure canning).

If anyone does buy a Presto, please be advised to make sure you get the PRESSURE CANNER version. They have other versions that "look very similar" (and by that I mean extremely similar) that are only pressure cookers. There is a price difference.
