WAR Any way to obtain a copy of my father's WWII Bronze Star citation?

I filled out a form at the National Archives site but it appears to me that they are only going to send me a copy of his Report of Separation, which I already have.

Try directly researching his unit. I found my grandfathers info by searching the unit records online. I was lucky that all the units records were posted online.

Your local Veteran's Administration office can help you out. I got my dad's medals when he passed but I never found his documentation. The VA guy helped me with some forms and I got them. I especially wanted the one for his Silver Star.

You need to have his service number or social security number of course branch of service and write to records holding in St. Louis. If his records were not destroyed(they had a big fire about 15 years ago), they can pull the old cached records and send a copy of the citation. It takes a long time to respond but if the records are out there they will be retired.
