CORP/BIZ Another Fed Ex screw up

Doc1

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I've heard so many stories of Fed Ex screwing up deliveries that I thought I'd add my own, that just happened today. I had ordered a new steering box assembly for one of my Yanmar tractors. I'd rebuilt this box a few years ago, but it crapped out again. I thought I'd treat myself - and the tractor - to a brand new box. It was well over $400.

I followed the Fed Ex tracking and knew that it was due to arrive today, so made sure I was home all day. Late afternoon arrives and no steering box, so I checked the online tracking. It says "Left at front door." Well, it may have been left at someone's front door, but it certainly wasn't mine!

A phone call to one of my neighbors informed me that they'd seen a Fed Ex truck earlier, at another neighbors down the street. I knew that these people were not home and had gone out of town for a few days. BTW, it's great to have a network of neighbors who keep eyes out in the neighborhood.

So I jumped on the bike and rode over to the absent neighbor's house. I went up the few steps to their porch and front door and... there's no package there! There's no package at the front door - as the delivery note stated - and there's no package on the porch to either side that I can see. OK. I went back home and told DW, who suggested that we go back over and look around their property a little more thoroughly. Good idea.

We started walking around the sides of their porch and house, when DW shouts, "I found it!" It was nowhere near the front door, but was hidden behind several other items at the end of their (long) porch. I was glad to have my package, but pissed at Fed Ex.

Let's see; they got the address wrong and didn't even leave it anywhere near the front door, as they stated in the online delivery note.

We're in a rural area and the neighborhood is not the easiest to navigate, but everyone has their address on the mailboxes on the road.

Oh, well. You are all invited to share your own Fed Ex horror stories!

Amazon left one of my packages at a neighbor's door. She kindly brought it over to me.
Amazon delivery people use a gps navigation system as part of the app, to find where to deliver. usually it is pretty good, but
occasionally it sends you to the wrong place. Especially out in the stix. If this is a pattern, get LARGE house numbers and post them where they can easily be seen.

Advantage of a small town: I had to go out for a few minutes, and sure enough UPS showed up during that time to deliver the computer that was scheduled for the next day. When I got back they had left a note. An hour or so later, UPS was at the door. He said he could tell it was a computer so he didn't just leave it, but he knew I would want it so at the end of his shift he came back by to see if my car was in the driveway yet. :)

My UPS driver lives a mile down the road so he knows our community and doesn’t make many wrong deliveries.

FedEx, on the other hand, seems to have a different driver ever time and frequently they are driving personal vehicles when delivering. I don’t like strange vehicles driving strangers on to my property... and neither do my dogs.

I live in the north and slightly west end of my county, on a mile section. It's numerical and transverses the county from east to west. I received a package from FedEx, delivered to my front door. Like Doc... it wasn't there. After contacting FedEx with absolutely zero resolution, but was assured by FedEx that the truck did stop at the addresses GPS location. I asked for the GPS co-ordinates and was denied. I asked for the nearest intersection and was advised of an intersection in the east side of the county. I traveled 16 miles to my east, on the same road to an address that was the same as mine, only located on the east side of the county and there laid my package, adjacent to the front door. No one was home, so I retrieved the package after taking a picture, in the event I was challenged with being a 'porch pirate'. Both locations were in the county so the likelihood of that was pretty slim.

Sounds like a good neighborhood! I have a Yanmar tractor, too and have replaced my steering box. After looking at a schematic and a CGI of how those steering boxes work, you can't tell me that they weren't doing some fine drugs in the Yanmar design office!

It's that "Fed" part of their name that does it every time... Federal reserve, Federal Government, Federal Bureau of Investigation - you understand the theme.

To demonstrate just how weird the thought process behind those steering boxes are here's some info. It's much easier to replace the whole assembly than to repair one.

Run time 13:10 but a quick skim through it will give the general idea -

FedEx uses independent contractors, just like Amazon. So if you are expecting a delivery, lock up your dogs. They don't get paid to get bit.
Amazon also employs a "locker system" where you can have deliveries made to a locker where you can go pick it up. That way you don't have to worry about anyone bringing it to your door.

You need to lay the hell off of FetLife.

Yeah it wasn’t anything from fetlife. Just lube and the usual stuff, but she was an elderly widow and I’m sure a bottle of passion would have freaked her out. Plus the company I order from puts a catalog in with your order and I’m pretty sure the nudes, not to mention the toys, in the catalog would have sent her to Jesus!!! :xpnd:

You might be surprised. One of the catalogs my elderly parents get has a bunch of typical old-people stuff e.g. corsets, walkers, comfy slippers, etc, but there was also an entire page of "marital aids" plus accessories like lubes and cleaning supplies, for both men and women, in there as well.

Yeah, I know what “the usual stuff” is. You use FetLife to get your motor running. :p

Actually nope, I use it for research for white papers. Oh and when you’re fat and have severe arthritis well let’s just say our doctor had no suggestions, but there’s a nice group on fetlife that has plenty.

And for those wondering a sex swing and if your fat make sure to check the tonnage rating. They even have advice on how to safely mount it from the ceiling. You’d be amazed at the number of people who ask if the really have to put the bolts into a ceiling joist and not just the Sheetrock.

My neighbor on the floor above for some reason kept getting my Amazon deliveries, he always opened them and kept what he wanted and would leave the opened packages of what he did not want at my front door. Without letting me know, he has since moved out but for some reason I keep getting his mail. Lots of collections, child support notifications, etc.. I just throw them in the trash, hopefully the law will get him soon…

There’s a group there for seniors that are still active with a whole list of modified positions, and other advice.

They just left a package on my doorstep for the house down the street. They're old family friends so I didn't have a problem in the world driving it over, but still.

Fedex has NEVER delivered ANY packages to my address!!! My home is connected to the county road by a private road. My very long driveway is the first on that private road. They ALWAYS deliver to the next house.

I have talked to their drivers many times. They are totally convinced that the lowest house number starts at the end of the dead end private road instead of the end near the county road. One of them showed me his GPS with a screen that had a mark a half mile to the northwest in the middle of a large cow pasture. He thought that proved him right. Then he drove off so fast that he nearly drove over my foot.

The most recent non-delivery was just a few months ago. I tried to phone their complaint department. The only way to reach it is to call the office in Billings that handles the large freight trucks only. I got the rather annoyed office manager to connect me to their complaint department. He wouldn't give me the number but transferred my call to the complaint department. The complaint department bitch totally ignored what I told her had happened. "Oh NO! that didn't happen" and then she hung up. I tried again and again over a week. The second contact was with a large room with employees who could barely speak English. I finally got hold of one that could actually speak fairly good English. He transferred me to a man and woman team that spoke good English. I tried to explain how their company was screwing things up. They interrupted me, said "OH NO HE DIDN'T" and hung up.

The UPS man is always polite and delivers my packages TO ME! The Fedex people are rude and stupid. I am surprised that they haven't gone bankrupt.

Taking cover
I had a package of coral FedEx overnight early delivery. It was early March so weather was iffy with the box being outside for long.

I missed the truck being in another part of the house and no doorbell rang. Checked tracking about 30 minutes after the drop off and saw delivered, front door. Went out, no package. Checked all around the front of the house and no package.

Called FedEx and managed to get to a real person quickly. Explained what was going on. After the call waited around about an hour and nothing heard back.

I decided to go down my road of all 4 houses on the street. One guy regularly got FedEx so checked with them nothing. On the way back I found the box by the road ripped open and contents dumped out. About that time the FedEx truck pulled up at the house.

We guess porch pirates grabbed the box between his delivering it and my starting the search. They opened it and didn’t like the bags of water with rocks in them and just ditched it.

For the next several months the FedEx guy would call me ahead of time to see if I was home when he had a package for me.

It's hit and miss here, too. The UPS driver has had this route for awhile but the postman, Fed-X, and Amazon drivers have a very high turnover. The gals seem to have a higher accuracy rate than the young men who either have on headphones or a radio blasting. I don't mind C&W but the rap carp is offensive.

I am always ordering something, for my preps.

My latest order was from Amazon, a Maxpedition pouch for
my snake bit kit, so that I can attach it to, my Maxpedition FR-1
medical bag.

The seller shipped the pouch via the USPS,
which I have had the most problems with, of all the shippers.

Tracked the shipment, and it was shipped quickly,
took 3 hours to get from the first distribution center,
to the distribution center, that is located in my area.
This was on July 30th. It sat over in the local distribution center
for the next 15 hours, and it finally left there, early Saturday morning.
I said great, I will get my package late Saturday afternoon,
which is when the mail runs here.

Nope.

They sent my package to another town, which is 8 miles from house.

Now why did they do that? They did this crap a couple of months ago,
but they sent it to another post office, not far from the local distribution center.

I checked the shipment yesterday afternoon, the local town's post office
sent my package back, to the local distribution center Saturday night.

The local distribution center, then sent my package out about 3 hours later,
and my post office indicated receiving my package, 5 hours later Sunday morning.

Probably some doper, or drunk, maybe even somebody who
cannot even read. Its messed up. At least it wasn't something
that I needed ASAP, it is just the principal of the matter.
Do something correctly, or don't do it at all.

Sometimes Amazon Prime delivers, and I have not had any
problems with their delivery. UPS sometimes has delivered,
but not often, and I have not had any Fed Ex deliveries.

I do see, all of the delivery trucks on the cul-da-sac nearly everyday,
as there are some home businesses here.

It is only going to get worse, as the next lock down approaches.

Please be safe everyone.

Regards to all.

FedEx and ups in our area are great. San Antonio Texas not so great. Fedex ground Driver left friends pkg at wrong address. Driver did not speak English. Took his boss a week to find a translator. Nice young woman moved some mountains, located package and delivered it after much prayer.

Comfy slippers, seriously this is something that a lot of people over look but should not overlook. I mean mindset and comfort is everything. And I’m dead serious here.

Most stuff is all bar coded these days -almost nothing except problem parcels (like yours here) are ever read by a human. But bar codes can get screwed up by the slightest smudge, wrinkle or tape over the wrong portion. And the fun begins!

I just gave hubby a pair of hard soled, 100% sheepskin moccasins for his birthday. He can't walk barefoot, due to very high arches and a couple bad injuries, but after being in running shoes work shoes or rubber boots all day, he doesn't want anything restrictive. The slippers are perfect: sturdy enough to wear for a brief excursion into the shop to let dogs out, although I HOPE he doesn't dump antifreeze all over this pair-che helped drop an engine in June, forgetting he was wearing slippers!

Last week I got an email notice twice that my package was out for delivery. Nothing showed up, but I did get a notice saying the package was delayed for "operational reasons." Translation: shortage of employees.

Friday night at 9:40 pm, after I had gone to bed, they sent an email saying the package was delivered. I'm an early bird, so it is still dark when I get up. The package was not at either door where they usually leave packages. As I was leaving for breakfast at first light I saw the package sitting at the end of the driveway. We were under thunderstorm warnings Friday night and the rocket scientist left the package out in the open 100' from the house with rain in the forecast.

Apparently one doesn't even need to prove they have an IQ to work for FedEx these days.

We order from Walmart and Sam's all the time. FedEx is always the deliverer. We track every order. Two weeks ago, I ordered a case of the original B&M Brown Bread from Walmart. Kept it tracked up to the day it said that it would be delivered. We looked for the delivery all day, and nothing came. Checked the tracking the next day, and it said that it had been delivered. No, it had not! Cary decided to wait a couple of days, and if it had not arrived by then, he was going to call Walmart. Well, the next day, UPS stopped at the house, which was very unusual. They had our delivery. So, FedEx tracking isn't reliable at all. Needless to say, we only received half of what we ordered. It was from Amazon, not Walmart, and it wasn't the original flavor, but the raison bread. A total screw up.

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
We’ve had good luck so far with deliveries. The only one I recall going a bit sideways was a Polaris (pool cleaner not ATV or Snowmobile) rebuild kit that I ordered off Amazon as it was less than similar on flea bay.

The Amazon Driver for some reason left it on the folks porch next door. I was working around the place (mostly out back on the green belt) so was not constantly accessible. On one trip to my garage for something or another, found the box by my trucks rear bumper and put it on my workbench, not really thinking a lot about it.

Later I noticed the delivery picture and it clearly was the neighbors porch…. Mildly curious, but I had my kit, so OK.

The next day, while putting the trash wheelies out, the wife from next door stopped to ask if, while pruning the back, I could get a couple of limbs hanging over their yard, yep, no problem. The wife then mentions the box. She’s come near to the door of the garage to ask to a ladder or such a handful of times and has seen me working on reloading and various project guns on my workbench, plus there’s lots of gear & stuff hanging off the walls…. She said “Chuck got the box and was going to put it in your garage…. I told him take it over but DO NOT go in his garage!!!”.

Not sure if she thought he get vaporized or thought I was very defensive about my “area”. I simply confirmed that I found the box. Not sure what that says about my “rep” on the skreet. ;)

we live in the country and had a VERY nice ups deliver. He retired and we went through a bunch of temps till we got our new regular driver. It looks like he will be as good as the old guy. Fed ex has a good older driver and a bunch of younger suckie drivers. They manage to get most of our packages here but not all the time.
