FOOD Aldi's Canned Fried Apples Are Now In Stores

As the title says, Aldi Fried Apples in a can hit the shelves this morning.( Sept 8 )

They are in the Aldi Finds aisle at my local store. $1.29 a can. No limits here.

They're very tasty, cinnamon fried apples. Best By Date is about 3 years out.

We first tried a couple of cans 2 years ago. Went back to get more and they were gone. Missed the boat last year too. So, this years, as in today, we loaded up for pantry stock.

They make a nice side dish or even an easy dessert. We warm them a little. I like to put a little half & half on them too.

Get them while you can. Won't last long. Sweet-Harvest-Fried-Apples-Cinnamon.jpg

No, but they're pretty darn good and helpful to keep in the pantry. Warm them up, spoon over vanilla ice cream for a treat. I've even used them to make small 'pies' with biscuit dough.

ETA: Or just do like my dh and the young'un do... eat them right out of the can.

I don't shop at Aldi's, so I've never seen them to try. Reason for asking. All I stock is canned apple and peach pie filling. I've just always made my own fried apples. We have our own apple tree, but it would be a good stock item if fresh apples aren't available. Yeah, we like them served over vanilla ice cream. We also like fried bananas over ice cream, too.

Bananas Foster! LOVE that. Pretty carby (understatement) so don't fix it very often, but it's one of my all-time favorites.

You have your own apple tree, lucky you! I'm one of those belt AND suspenders kind of person and even if I grow something or have easy access to it, I always try to keep a minimal stock of a substitute on hand, just in case.

Was at our nearest Aldi’son Monday and saw the fried apples. I’d never heard of them but sounded like a good prep item to me! Grabbed two cases. Had our first can, warmed, last night with pork chops. They were very good. I’d like to try to get more but they probably won’t last long in the store.

Aldi's is a great place to shop if one get over the fixation with "name" brands.

90% of my groceries are from Aldi's, delivered to my front door. Easy Peasey!

The fried apples sound great on top of some vanilla ice cream?

Very good over ice cream if you don’t want to make it from scratch. Also buy a spice cake mix, whip it up and put a dollop into muffin tins, add a dollop of fried apples, top with more spice cake mix. Once baked and cooled, top with cream cheese frosting.

Panic Early - Panic Often
I just bought 12 cans Of Sweet Harvest brand for storage as I am doing Whole30 now so I will have to wait to try them. It's best used by date is 06-25-2024, so it is a long way out. Cans were $1.29 at Aldi's in Cape Coral, Florida. Aldi's only had 13 cans left and several of them were dented. I can't wait.

I have a question concerning Aldi's. Do they ship to your house, or is it in store shopping only? We have an Aldi's in Tupelo, MS, but it's always trashy, and I won't go there. I was wondering if they do online orders.

I honestly don't know the answer, but looking forward to knowing.

We're surmising our groceries will soon be delivery or curb pick up only as we are part of The Great Unwashed Masses

Adding: Per Red Baron's post #18, they deliver to his door.

We live about 30 minutes away from our Aldi's, so I don't think they would deliver that far out. I wouldn't have a problem shopping in store, but like I said, it's rather trashy. It has become an attraction for GTR and Mexicans. Most Whites go to the nicer, cleaner stores to shop. It's sad, really.

Got a couple of Aldi's in my town and I love fried apples. I was born in West Virginia and apples were a staple year round, fresh, dried, apple butter, apple jelly etc. Miss home cooked apples sometimes.

Give these a try. They're not home cooked, but we certainly enjoy them. Same old canned peaches, pears, fruit cocktail... kinda gets a bit boring and these a welcome diversity for us.

Yeah, this is the Aldi stores on the east side of Des Moines, every once in awhile we get one of their black clerks here and they always say they wish they could stay at our store because the customers are so nice.

Thank you very much for the heads-up on this seasonal product. We hurried over to the neighborhood Aldi’s and bought a case of 12 cans for our pantry. They will be a delicious alternate addition to our winter treats.

And the thing is in this current environment of Apple shortages i# you can doctor these up to fi5 your needs. Got brown sugar and cinnamon? This is how we saw the situation given 5hat apples are scarce this year. Note we prefer my homemade applesauce and fried apples, however, there’s a serious apple shortage this year. Sigh.

I bought a case of the apples and heated them up for dinner. They were almost as good as my homemake ones. Hubby didn't think they were nearly as good but I loved them. Guess they taste better when I don't have to peel and slice them! LOL! My granddaughter told me the Applesauce was good so I guess another trip to Aldi's is in order.

I made a quick trip to Aldi today, not meaning to buy much - ha ha ha! I did pick up several cans of the fried apples, among other things.

While I was waiting in the check-out line, I asked a younger woman in front of me if she would put my pkg of water (24 bottles in a pkg is HEAVY.) She graciously did so, and continued to unload the rest of my cart onto the belt! I was waiting at the register with my debit card out, and to my Right, I see a card sliding through the payment thingey. I was a bit shocked, and told her she didn't have to do that, and she said that's right; she didn't have to, but was doing it anyway. She also put that pkg of water btls in my cart for me.

Gee, I didn't think I looked that elderly and disabled!

As I was rolling the cart out the door, her hubby came along with me, and loaded everything into my car. Of course, I thanked them profusely.

There are still some really good people around, and I plan to pay it forward next time I get a chance!
