EBOLA ? About dogs, vit C.

I am curious about why dogs do not appear to be symptomatic with Ebola. Because the virus seems to attack connective tissues, and Vit C is required for repair and maintenance of connective tissues, could dogs ability to manufacture C have a relationship with their ability to fight the virus?

Quite logical theory, Jacki.

Somewhere here there is a thread about Vitamin C and Ebola. This notion fits right in with the points on that thread, such as blood vessel integrity and so forth, iirc.

I questioned TWO vets and both agreed vitamin c is safe for dogs.

As a matter of fact, when we adopted lab #2, he had a very nasty virus from the pound. Other dog caught it.
After $600+ at the vet and some expensive antibiotics that didn't work AT ALL, the vet wanted to do serious testing.
I gave them liposomal vitamin c and they recovered quickly. (like in 24 hours symptoms were gone!)

All mammals except humans, guinea pigs, and some primates (don't remember which) can make their own vitamin c.

We have the gene to do so also, but it has been turned off. I often wonder how this happened.

From what I read once, my cat can make the equivalent of what would be 5000 mg. per day for me. That would be about 500 mg. per day for him. This is a ramped up amount to fight an infection. Probably their daily amount is less. Pretty cool, huh?
