2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin Rolls & Bags Available September 2

WASHINGTON, August 27, 2026 — Rolls and bags of the 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin will be available for purchase from the United States Mint (Mint) on September 2 at noon EDT. For the first 24 hours following the on-sale time, orders for each product are limited to two per household.

The product options for the 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin (P) include:

- Priced at $154.50, a bag of 100 circulating quality $1 coins minted in Philadelphia (product code: 26SQBP).

- Priced at $61.00, a roll containing a total of 25 circulating quality $1 coins minted in Philadelphia (product code: 26SQRP).

Of special interest to collectors, 250,000 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coins were struck on the Fourth of July at the Philadelphia Mint, featuring a special "July 4th" privy mark in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. Bearing no mint mark and a circulating finish, these historic and first of their kind dollar coins will be interspersed throughout 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin Rolls & Bags—numismatic products (26SQRP, 26SQRB).

Customers are encouraged to sign up to receive “Remind Me” alerts for these products.

The obverse (heads) design features a portrait of President Donald J. Trump with the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1776~2026.” The design by United States Chief Engraver Joseph Menna was inspired by an official White House photo taken by Daniel Torok.

The reverse (tails) design features the Presidential Seal, which shows an eagle holding an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, with a shield on its breast and a banner inscribed “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak. The shield contains the inscription “250” to honor the Semiquincentennial of the United States. The additional inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.” Former Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro designed and sculpted the reverse.

Authorized by 31 U.S.C. §5112(y)(1)(C) and the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-330), the Secretary may mint and issue a new $1 coin for one year beginning January 1, 2026, in celebration of the Nation’s Semiquincentennial.

AFAIK it's the same size and composition as the Sacagawea dollar coins. I'm thinking about getting a couple of rolls and then sending one at random to my brother to trigger his PTSD (President Trumpmatic Stress Disorder - after Trump it will become Post-Trumpmatic Stress Disorder).
 
I see they are asking $61 for a roll that comes out to $1.44 each for a roll of $1 dollar coins.
Charging a $1.54 each coin for a 100 count bag of the same coins.
On the street these coins have a value of $1 dollar and there is 1/4 of a million of them floating around.

That's for uncirculated coins that most people will continue to leave uncirculated for collector purposes.

Look at it like a new car, mint condition ... then the moment you roll off the car lot the price/value decreases. As soon as a coin becomes circulated currency it drops in collector value ... unless it is some weird defect coin that you find at some point along the way then it doesn't really matter.
 
Nope, I can find nothing saying the Trump dollar coins are already in circulation. eBay is only showing pre-sales.

That's wrong...it's $2.44/coin in the roll.
 
Just to counter the TDS articles that insist this has never happened before and that it's illegal ... it has happened before and it's a gray area of tradition rather than the law. Twice. Making Trump the third (sorry, Donald, you ain't #1 for this) sitting U.S. President to appear on a U.S. coin. Calvin Coolidge (in office until 1929) appeared on a half-dollar commemorative coin in 1926 that may have seen limited circulation (definitely not widespread, though). Franklin Roosevelt (in office until 1945) appeared on a 1936 2 Peso coin for the U.S.-occupied Philippines that most definitely saw wide circulation -- you might argue that was a "foreign country" (occupied and a de facto quasi-U.S. territory or not) and doesn't count, but in fact it was the U.S. Mint who made them, the U.S. that distributed them, the U.S. that backed their legitimacy, and the coins were directly convertible to U.S. dollars. Not that anti-Trumpers are going to let facts and history stand in their way.

Edited to add: Sneer if you like, but I've already bought a pre-sale coin for $4.50. It is history in the making, and if nothing else the controversy surrounding it makes it a (to me) legitimate numismatic coin.
 
The Trump $1 coins went on sale at the U.S. Mint today. Apparently the response was an all-time record high for a U.S. Mint offering and practically crashed the site. Some people spent up to an hour constantly refreshing their browsers before they even got on the Web site, much less bought anything. Lots of media stories being downright insulting about the coins, including being indignant that the coins are described as "golden" but don't have any gold in them (and heavily implying that Trump is personally being deceitful about that), despite the coin's composition being identical to the Sacagawea, Presidential, and Innovation $1 coins that have been out for decades now and also long described as "golden." But my favorite is the breathless report about how selling a $1 coin for $1.50 is a "staggering" markup and implying the profit is going straight into Trump's pocket (it's not, it's going into federal coffers). Most of the stories grudgingly admit the coins are legal but are also quick to point out that individuals and stores don't have to accept them, so I'm half-expecting a "grassroots" campaign telling people to not accept or spend the coins. The pre-sale coin I bought on eBay is expected to ship around mid-September, which may be an indication of when we might start seeing these things in circulation or available at coin shops.
 
We had an entire day full of errand and appointments. I forgot about it until like 1pm EST and by then, I couldn't even get the site to load on my phone. When I got home and on my computer, they were sold out.

Well crap. I wanted a couple just because the whole stink about it will give it some value. Eventually. Maybe?
 
Who knows if these things will ever increase in value. So far I've been wrong that the 2026 Independence quarters with the special privy mark will eventually drop to around $25-$50. Instead, they're being fairly persistent in selling on eBay for around $150-$200. A huge drop from the initial $2,500 each, but still surprisingly (to me) fairly expensive.
 
I didn't catch this before, but they did the same thing with the $1 Trump coin that they did with the Independence quarter. The U.S. Mint produced 250,000 of the $1 coins with a special "July 4th" privy mark and mixed them into the bags and rolls that just went on sale. Since they didn't actually release these directly into circulation, there should be just about zero chance of finding one with the privy mark in your store change. Oddly enough, the sales on eBay for the $1 coin are pretty much going for the same price as the privy marked quarters (about $200-$250).
