Some good coupons and good sales help a lot this week.

SAV-A-LOT--
5 oz Sweet Sue white chicken-.99 + .55/2 coup--4/2.86
12 pack Ramen noodles-1.00---24/2.00

FOOD LION--
chunky brand chili-1.25 +.75/2 coup---2/1.75
48 oz Wesson oil--1.79

PUBLIX--
32 oz jar mayo or Miracle whip-1/1---2/3.29
quaker oatmeal (10 pack)-1/1 + 2 .50/1 coupons--2/2.49
del monte peaches-.99 +.40/3 coupon--3/2.57
Krusteaz pancake mix-1/1 w/circular coupon--2/1.49
progresso soup-1.25 + .50/2 coup---2/2.00

TOTAL--$20.24

Let's see, pancake mix is a great price. Pancakes are good with lots of stuff besides syrup. Need the mayo for all the tuna. The price on the chicken is fantastic and that is the cheapest I've ever seen Ramen noodles around here. The chili and the soup are good additions to the "ready to eat" category. The oatmeal is also a good price after coupons and a nice addition to the breakfast category.

Here's a quick and easy recipe for using the peaches:

1 Jiffy yellow cake mix and 1 can diced peaches (the kind in cinnamon are best)

dump cake mix into a 8x8 pan--drain juice from peaches into the cake mix and stir until well mixed--add peaches and stir to cover--put in 350 oven for 20? minutes or so, until med brown on top--best eaten when warm-cake will not slice, but you scoop it out, delicious with ice cream or cool whip

I think I could make this easily with my new Coleman oven.

Any good sales in your areas? I'm getting the feeling I need to have all of my prepping done soon, so I've been busy organizing and inventorying stuff to see what I am missing. Hope you are too.

Beefribs .99 a pound. Bought 60 lbs. Sorry. I know that's not within the $20.00 limit, but I couldn't let that pass me by! Ann

I'm not sure if Aldi's is nationwide or not. But I buy all my staples there. There are very few of their products that I won't use...the vegetable shortening is one...too waxy and not creamy enough. But most are close enough in quality to the name brands to warrant using them, because of the $ savings.

I just bought:
48 oz veg oil...$1.59
9.75oz chicken breast in water...$1.69 (your coupon price beat this)

Several of this weeks items were better with your prices and coupons, several Aldi's are "everyday price" better.

I'm a "newbie" so please forgive me if this has been discussed. I don't keep it up like I should, but a few years ago I started a Price Book in my dayplanner that I have with me all the time. It is invaluable if you are watching pennies/nickles/dimes. A year or so ago I priced the 50 lb bags of flour at Sam's. It was cheaper to buy 10 5lb bags at Aldi's. But prices change, and you can find great "loss leaders" weekly at the grocery store. With a price book, you know where your best price was, and whether the sale is really that good.

Aldi's doesn't take coupons, and, as you've shown, they can make some GREAT prices! Don't you just love a good deal?! It's like a treasure hunt.

Publix is clearing out it's stock of Mincemeat. I love the stuff, and use it for more than just pies. I picked up 4 jars for $3.78, and the expiration date is Oct 07.

Hi CherylOK--we don't have an Aldi's here. Have heard a lot about it and wish we did. Closest we have is SAV-A-LOT. I did notice on this last visit that prices have gone up even there. Veggies are now 37 to 39 cents per can, up from 33 cents a few months ago.

I agree wholeheartedly about a pricebook. You have to know the prices to know if you are getting a good deal and advertisers are sneaky and something sounds like a good deal, but if you look at it, it is really not so great. The prices I use here are the lowest that I could find from ads or in the stores for that particular week.

Great deal on the pork. How do you can yours? I tried canning it as BBQ, but it didn't turn out as well as I had expected or hoped. Looking for a new method. I did buy 8 lbs of chicken breasts (boneless, $1.49/lb) to can tomorrow.

Anybody else?

Chicken breasts @ 48 cents per pound. Bought $20 worth. We are skinning them--deboning--dehydrating for jerky. Skins go to cats--bones will be used to make soup.

Chicken jerky? That's a new one on me. I just love chicken. What kind of spices/flavorings do you use and how long does it take to make it? More info please. ;) Thanks!!!
