The sun just put on a dazzling show with three X-class solar flares, including the mighty X6.3 - the peak of the 11-year solar cycle. These bursts of radiation disrupt radio communications on Earth, causing three consecutive radio blackouts over the Pacific and Indian oceans. Dive into the...

I am in the process of looking to buy various solar lights for different reasons.
Some ideas I have for lighting when TSHTF:
-Small solar lights (pathlights?) that can be charged during the day and brought inside at night for lighting instead of candles.
-Small solar motion pathlights to...
I was thinking that solar panels and battery backup systems would be good to have should the grid go down for an extended period. I know the jury is out on how much damage an EMP blast could cause. If it were bad, wouldn't it take out solar panels and the newer more sophisticated charge controllers?

Was wondering what I would need for a solar panel setup if the grid went down. Was thinking about putting fans in the windows to help circulate air in the house and my wife wanted to know about power to a mini fridge also.
Looked up some panels and they said 12v. Are those the wrong kind or do...
