SpokaneMan any update?

Praying for our Lord to guide all of you thru this to safety. May he watch over you and put his hedge of protection around you and all who are struggling during this trial.

His profile says location Auburn. Auburn CA is near the Dixie Fire.

Praying for SpokaneMan, his Shannon and all those in the path of these fires.

The River Fire is in Placer County and Nevada County, it started early afternoon Wednesday (8/04) and one evacuation center is in Auburn.

This should be the fire he was talking about.

This one is a big one as well right now, today was the first time I have seen blue sky in Idaho in 2 weeks. We have had numerous evacs the last few weeks. Idaho seems to be the number one spot in the country then California and Montana.

Hope your Daughter is safe spokaneman.

Effective August 3, 2021, the area closure encompasses the headwaters of the St. Joe River, from Avery upstream. The eastern boundary is the Montana state line & the southern boundary is the border between the Idaho Panhandle National Forests and the Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest.

From US Forest Service:
Extreme Fire Behavior Prompts Expanded Area Closure on St. Joe Ranger District

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (August 4, 2021) – On the evening of July 31, fires within the Stateline Complex were impacted by hot, windy weather. Above average temperatures, 25mph winds, & near-record-low fuel moisture of approximately 3%, converged into dangerous conditions and rapid fire growth. The Tumbledown fire, the largest within the Complex, made a nearly 5-mile wind-driven run downriver that exceeded existing closure boundaries. When considering area closures, fire managers and administrators carefully evaluate the balance between public land access and firefighter and public safety.

Factoring in recent fire behavior and growth, a new area closure has been issued for the St. Joe Ranger District. Effective August 3, 2021, the area closure encompasses the headwaters of the St. Joe River, from Avery upstream. The eastern boundary is the Montana state line and the southern boundary is the border between the Idaho Panhandle National Forests and the Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest. Roads that make up the area closure perimeter are not closed, but all roads and trails within the closure are. Moon Pass and the Route of the Hiawatha remain open.

An area closure will be issued shortly for the Trestle Creek Complex on the Sandpoint Ranger District to replace the previous road and trail closure. This Complex also saw rapid fire growth over the weekend that necessitated evacuations. No structures have been lost, and residents have since been downgraded to pre-evacuation status.

Maps and detailed descriptions of all active closures are provided on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests’ website (https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/ipnf/alerts-notices). Statewide, interagency information on closures, fire perimeters and more is provided on the Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s Fire Map (https://idfg.idaho.gov/ifwis/maps/realtime/fire/).

Yes, you’re right, Lilbitsnana! River fire. There are so many fires up in Northern CA (I’m in Southern California so it’s “up” to me! ). Continuing prayers!

His profile does not point to California. It points to Auburn Alabama. I found out by clicking on the link.

There are no fires in Auburn, AL

And, Bama does not have a Placer County.

I don't know what "link" you clicked on.

ETA: mzk's link in post#4 is for Auburn, Washington in King County (in the Spokane, WA area),

Click on the word Auburn in the profile. It takes you to google maps with Auburn AL. Highlighted. I don't really understand it or why a link here leads to google maps.

Here is the link from the profile. It could be that it just points to the wrong place. Or maybe my computer goes to the wrong place for some reason.

I don't even see a link in his profile although I do see "Auburn" for location, but if you read some of his past posts from end of last year, he moved from Washington and mentioned Placer County. Only Placer County is in Cali.

ETA: I see...if you hover over "Auburn" the link appears.

The word "Auburn' is a clickable link. I have all of my links show underlined. That is how I could tell. Netscape did this by default. I was so mad when it went away that I searched for a way to get most browsers to do it. Sad how such a great feature became a has been. The profile must be wrong. I am very worried that SpokaneMan did not report again.

I have friends close in (5 miles?) to the Bear River fire/Nevada County. The latest text I got last night was that the fire had been blown back onto itself with a wind shift..then of course, the usual night-time die-back.

From what I have seen this morning, its's still considered 100% uncontrolled, so guessing the excitement will start up again late morning. At least so far the predicted winds seem low, but still from the south. Terrestrial winds make little difference, these fires make their own.
