BLOG How has everyone been enjoying this free 90 day trial of communism?

I can only eat at .gov approved food establishments...
I can only shop at .gov approved stores...
I need papers to show I am essential so I can travel...
I was stopped this morning on my way to work for violating curfew...
The media is endless propaganda approved by the .gov...
I cannot attend my church because it does not have the .gov stamp of approval...
And at least half of the country wants me dead because I am white, christian, heterosexual, and male.

Must say, I didn't care much for the free trial and would like to return it...

I have been “enjoying” communism/socialism my whole life, which seems to date back to at least Fabian Socialism of the late 1800s.

I think what you describe is really better described as fascism. Fasces were a Roman symbol of power and authority: a bundle of wooden rods. At the Lincoln Memorial, Lincoln is resting his arms on fasces. I believe the term fascism was derived from fasces. More on Google...

I am no political scientist: nor am I an historian. The better read here probably have additions or corrections.

If it's Abraham Lincoln (may he burn in hell) resting his arms on fasces; might want to look twice.
I'd bet it's feces he's squiming his hands in. Deservedly so too.

You should see what my Niece is going through. She along with a partner owns a beauty salon in Upstate, NY.
She was finally allowed to reopen but with so many rules it's ridiculous. Only one customer at a time, they stay in car until ready, she has to take their temp. Both have to wear a mask and she wears a welding helmut, they have to use disposable capes which of course they are backordered, so they are using garbage bags wash, everything down in between. On and on ad infinitum. The powers that be better watch out because they are pissing off the people that when riled you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy or maybe you would.

I'd be happy if the grocery stores could be open past 7 pm. Between the CV-19 shutdowns and now the countywide curfew so the police are free to watch the protesters, we are all reduced to shopping between 9:00 am - 7:00 pm. If I had wanted to live in Cuba or the Soviet Union, I would've moved there!

Idiots.

Oh, and I have to stand in line on little white Xs, 6 feet apart, if I want to get into Walmart and don't get there first thing. Nope. They've lost my business for now, too. I'm not standing there in 90 degree heat, waiting for someone to come out.

Meanwhile, each night there have been protests in downtown Des Moines with hundreds of teenagers, few masks, little social distancing. Rant over. I'm going to drink a Rusty Nail cocktail on my deck.

About the only two things I have enjoyed is less traffic and the lack of college kids.

Otherwise, tired of not being able to buy the usual things at the grocery store. Still no yeast, but I did manage to score 2 5lb bags of King Arthur Bread Flour.

BTW - must be another run on TP, the limit 1 signs are back up and stock is very limited to one brand.

People worried about their safety on a grocery run? Can't blame them... one of the biggest advantages of being prepped is that you avoid needing to make a "quick run" to the store when it's not really safe, whether that's due to bad weather or riots.

Which is exactly why I have been quietly stocking more again every chance I get. Think I'm now up to about 5 months worth of TP and paper towels, also both freezers are pretty full of meat. I only go to the grocery store during senior hours and they now have security posted at the door and watching the parking lot. I want to get in and get out as fast as possible. I'm only going mostly for fruit, dairy and produce because the garden won't be producing for another month or so (depending on the weather).

Other than that, I'd like to find a DO OVER button, kind of like the EASY Button for this entire year.

You know how your kids as they are growing up start to think you're dumber than a box of rocks, worry about everything, prep because you're paranoid, etc., etc., etc. Then once their out on their own they start to think...."Well maybe the old guy isn't so dumb after all." Well as a result of all this crap going on: the political unrest, Corona virus, and now this BLM/AntiFa rioting garbage, they now think I'm a FREAKING GENIUS with a Crystal Ball!! Everything I've been preaching and practicing for the last thirty some odd years as they were growing up is hitting them squarely between the eyes! Pop just might actually know what the hell he's talking about.....imagine that!

Didn't change my life style. I still do what I want when I want. If they would jest send me that 2000 dollars per month then I could do more of it.

Its hard to believe we have posts like these.(on communism) So glad to have had a forum like this with such good people giving great advice on what to do when all this hits. A lot of us hopefully are a little ahead of the game and not so shocked or afraid. I didn't like the trial, try to stay out of the way.

In general we still are not seeing daily traffic / people out and about up to normal yet. We do see normal or near normal rates of cars and people when the beach weather is good. Then it is all bets are off.
