"Sanctuary State." Anything conservative, MAGA, implying responsibility or consequences to one's actions are verboten in Vermont - and the state protects anyone subject to any of these.

Owner says the state was changed in the 1960s and 70s with what he calls "The back to the landers." These were not really back to the land but were willing to take on government largesse so they could "do their own thing." Bead Stringers, "artistes", "Hand painted clam shells" (no clams in Vermont mind you), "Leatherworkers" (anything artistic, labor intensive, and "different") all glommed onto that "Vermont is Pure" advertising persona.

Ben & Jerrys was a direct recipient of this effect (Later sold out to a European conglomerate) As was Simon Pierce Glassworks, as was Shelburne Farms.

Vermont has overtones of the "elite." The winter ski industry is certainly part of this, as is Woodstock and the Woodstock Inn (overnight rates run $350 plus.) Everyone loves the Julie Andrews "Sound of Music" but most don't realize with the end of WWII, the Von Trapp family money followed Maria back to Vermont, along with their friends and acquaintances and "hangers on" (including NYC Rogers & Hammerstein Media-connected.)

Bernie Sanders is a direct beneficiary of this effect. A "back to the lander" himself he found his "gig" in politics. His family was part of the post WWII "transference" of elite from a war ravaged European Theater.

Owner says the days of the hard working solitary self sufficient "Vermont Dairy Farmer" are long past.

One expects that Alec Baldwin has found and rallied with his "friends" in Vermont.

Alec Baldwin feared Trump comments on 'Rust' shooting would inspire 'violence' against him

Fox News

4-5 minutes

During an exclusive CNN interview, actor Alec Baldwin stated that the “only time” he was “worried” about the consequences of the fatal “Rust” movie set shooting, was after former President Donald Trump weighed in on the tragedy.
Implying that his physical safety was in danger, Baldwin claimed that Trump had “instructed people to commit acts of violence” on January 6, and now “he was pointing fingers at me.”

CNN “New Day” aired Baldwin’s interview with CNN entertainment reporter Chloe Melas on Friday, where they discussed the fallout from the tragic shooting on the Hollywood set of the movie “Rust.”
Baldwin maintained during his interview that he didn’t pull the trigger, telling Melas, “I never once said – never – that the gun went off in my hand automatically. I always said I pulled the hammer back, and I pulled it back as far as I could. I never took a gun and pointed it at somebody and clicked the thing.”

Baldwin also noted that he hired his own private investigator to look into the alleged accident, who was assured by the sheriff’s department that he would not be charged over the “Rust” shooting.

“That private investigator, as you probably know, did not have a difficult time accessing the staff of the sheriff’s department and that person told us, quote, unquote, ‘We have known in the department since January that Alec would not be charged with a crime,’” he explained.
Melas spoke to Baldwin’s attorney, who insisted that if Baldwin were charged with a crime over the shooting, it would be a “huge miscarriage of justice.”

CNN claimed Trump antagonized the actor, stating, “but the then-president fanned flames against him.” (Though Trump had been out of office for nearly a year by this point.)

Baldwin described to Melas how he was victimized by Trump over the shooting. “The former President of the United States said, ‘He probably shot her on purpose.’”
He then implied that Trump was physically endangering him because he had allegedly done the same to his political enemies on January 6.

“To me [that] was the only time I thought that I needed – that I was worried what was going to happen. Because here was Trump, who instructed people to commit acts of violence and he was pointing the finger at me and saying, I was responsible for the death,” Baldwin said.
Deadline Hollywood reported last November that Trump stopped just short of accusing Baldwin of purposefully shooting Hutchins, openly pondering, “maybe he loaded it.” As The Hill noted, the former president added, “he had something to do with it.”

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died on set after being shot by a prop gun being used by Alec Baldwin.Anadolu
As Fox Digital reported, during filming on October 21, “a gun Alec Baldwin was holding discharged during a rehearsal for the film, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.” Since the shooting, Baldwin has maintained that the shooting was an accident and that the supposed prop gun had fired off live rounds without him pulling the trigger.
Last December, he stated, “The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger.” Though an FBI investigation revealed that “the gun used on the New Mexico movie set could not have been fired without the trigger being pulled.”
Scrutiny fell upon the “Rust” set’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, as to why a gun with live rounds was passed to Baldwin during filming. Gutierrez-Reed has since sued Seth Kenney, “the man who provided the prop ammunition used by the production team.”

Gutierrez-Reed’s lawyers have criticized the Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sheriff’s Department for not clearing up the question of where the live rounds came from. It has “made a conscious decision not to pursue this question at all by refusing to ask the FBI to test any of the rounds for fingerprints or DNA,” they said.

So is he trying to say that he kept live ammo in that gun because he was afraid someone on the set was hired by or inspired by Trump to do him in???

Well that would explain the live ammo.

Someone brought in the live ammo and put it in that gun.

He better be careful with what he says.
All eyes are back on him.

In a genuinely just justice system, this POS would be on his way to prison by now. I've read recently the the FBI just concluded that the trigger had to have been pulled for the gun to go off. That little tidbit could have been figured out by the local authorities in a day or two. People here figured it out right away. This guy arrogantly violated the most basic of gun safety rules.

At a bare minimum this waste of human flesh should be charged with manslaughter. I mean, for crying out loud, if any of us on this forum took a loaded gun (known loaded or not), pointed it at another person, squeezed the trigger, and whacked someone, we'd be jailed instantly. There would be very specific charges almost immediately. I'm so sick of the elite getting by, literally with murder.

Actor Alec Baldwin doesn't think anyone will be charged for fatal shooting on movie set

Matt Delaney

Actor Alec Baldwin says he thinks no one will be criminally charged in last year’s on-set shooting that killed a production team member for the unfinished movie “Rust.”

In a Saturday interview with CNN, Mr. Baldwin said he hired a private investigator to look into the incident in which a prop gun in the actor’s hand discharged and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza on Oct. 21.

Based on the investigator’s report, Mr. Baldwin said he believes that he, armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed or assistant director Dave Halls will not be charged.

Ms. Gutierrez Reed was responsible for checking the weapons on set and making sure that the gun was “cold,” or did not contain live rounds. Mr. Halls handed the gun to Mr. Baldwin before the fatal shooting.

Prosecutors in Santa Fe, New Mexico, are awaiting the completion of the criminal investigation into the shooting before deciding to press charges.

That being said, Mr. Baldwin finds his role in Hutchins’ death to be minimal.

“There are two people who didn’t do what they were supposed to do,” the actor told CNN, referring to Ms. Gutierrez Reed and Mr. Hall. “I’m not sitting there saying I want them to, you know, go to prison, or I want their lives to be hell. I don’t want that, but I want everybody to know that those are the two people that are responsible for what happened.”

An administrative complaint filed this month by the New Mexico environment department’s occupational health and safety bureau against the production company, Ms. Gutierrez Reed told Mr. Halls to let her know when Mr. Baldwin arrived so she could perform a safety check on his firearm.

The complaint says that the armorer walked away from the set expecting Mr. Halls to find Ms. Guiterrez Reed when the actor showed up. Mr. Halls wound up handing the revolver directly to Mr. Baldwin without checking with the set’s armorer.

Ms. Guiterrez Reed is alleging that the movie’s guns and ammunition supplier mixed live rounds in with dummy rounds in a lawsuit. The movie’s weapons supplier has asked a judge to dismiss the suit.

A recent FBI report found that the 45 Long Colt caliber F.LLI Pietta single-action revolver used by Mr. Baldwin on set would not and cannot fire without the trigger being pulled.

But the report noted that the gun malfunctioned during testing after internal parts fractured. That caused the gun to go off in the cocked position without pulling the trigger.

The FBI report also said that ammo cartridges found on set were not consistent with live ammo cartridges.

An 8 year old 4H participant has better handling skills than all these people. Let's see if I have this straight, nobody checked the SINGLE action revolver. Then the gun aims itself at the woman which then fires itself without touching the trigger? Sure, right..... Even if the revolver had 6 rounds loaded, the hammer would have to have been cocked to fire. Who did that? When loading said single action revolver the rounds are inserted with the loading gate swung out inserting each round when rotating the cylinder until full. Gate is closed and the hammer is still down. Entitled cheesedick claims the gun went off by itself but in reality the entitled cheesedick cocked the gun, aimed it at the woman and then the space aliens directed the SINGLE action revolver to fire by itself alleviating said cheesedick from all prosecution cause he wrote some large checks.... Gosh the hammer is down so it couldn't have been fired seems to be the level of competence of everyone involved in this whitewash.

Charge him and let the jury figure it out or wait, why waste the taxpayer funds when "restitution" is paid directly to the one's who made the decision to let him skate. It's good to be the jester of the king.....

Nope the gun manufacturer will be held responsible for the "unsafe" product they foisted upon the unsuspecting Alec the victim. Let's not forget also the vehicle that transported the deadly killer and single action assault revolver to the set. Maybe Alec's third grade teacher too and the miner working in China that loaded the ore into the cart. See if no process in the chain of events that led up to victim Alec's distressful "accident" had happened then he would not be so victimized. Everyone should pay, just not the real victim Alec. Shed a tear for Alec day should become national holiday.

A demonstration of gross arrogance and total lack of guilt. He is the one that pulled the trigger, he is the one responsible for proper gun handling and safety, he is the one to verify the thing was not loaded, his actions alone killed the woman.

These elites just drive me bananas. If he is charged, if he is found guilty, if the sentence could only be the needle, I'd volunteer for the administration and give him the full injection, one little baby drop at a time. Try to spread it out over a couple hours.

I very nearly added that exact statement to my post - lol.

Yes, and since Baldwin was also a producer for that movie, he also bears responsibility for hiring these people, and whom would he hire but an orange and blue haired twat who was riding on her father's coat tails of gun expertise, but didn't know a hammer from a waffle iron.

Decision on charges in fatal 'Rust' shooting to be announced Thursday, district attorney says

Alec Baldwin's first words to detectives revealed as cops release trove of 'Rust' files

Alec Baldwin appears on bodycam video telling Santa Fe investigators he felt "no recoil" when he inadvertently fired a .45-caliber Old West revolve in the fatal "Rust" movie shooting that took the life of Halyna Hutchins in late October.
New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies will announce if charges will be brought in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Thursday.
There will be no press conference regarding the announcement.

"Regardless of the District Attorney’s decision, the announcement will be a solemn occasion, made in a manner keeping with the office’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the judicial process and respecting the victim’s family," Heather Brewer, spokesperson for the office of the First Judicial District Attorney, said in a statement.
The DA's office did not release any further details at this time.

Deadline nears for Alec Baldwin in deadly movie set shooting

MORGAN LEE, Associated Press

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Prosecutors planned to file felony charges of involuntary manslaughter Tuesday in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by actor Alec Baldwin during a rehearsal on the set of a Western movie in 2021.
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died shortly after being wounded at a film set ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico, in Oct. 21, 2021. Baldwin was pointing a pistol at Hutchins when the gun went off, killing her and wounding the film’s director.

In recent weeks, Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies has outlined two sets of involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the shooting against Baldwin and film set weapons supervisor Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.
The district attorney said through a spokeswoman Monday that her office will release charging documents and a statement of probable cause outlining the evidence. Hutchins’ death already has led to new safety precautions in the film industry.

Involuntary manslaughter can involve a killing that happens while a defendant is doing something lawful but dangerous and is acting negligently or without caution. Special prosecutor Andrea Reeb has cited a pattern of “criminal disregard for safety” on the set of “Rust.”
Prosecutors also said they will release the terms of a signed plea agreement with assistant director David Halls, who oversaw safety on the set. Participants in the un-filmed rehearsal have given conflicting accounts of who handed the gun to Baldwin.

Halls has agreed to plead guilty in the negligent use of a deadly weapon, they said.
Heather Brewer, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said in a statement Monday that prosecutors are “fully focused on securing justice for Halyna Hutchins” and “the evidence and the facts speak for themselves.”
Baldwin, also a co-producer on “Rust,” has described the killing as a tragic accident. The 64-year-old actor said he was told the gun was safe and has sought to clear his name by suing people involved in handling and supplying the loaded .45-caliber revolver.

In his lawsuit, Baldwin said that while working on camera angles with Hutchins, he pointed the gun in her direction and pulled back and released the hammer of the weapon, which discharged.
Defense attorney Jason Bowles, who represents Gutierrez-Reed, said the charges are the result of a “flawed investigation” and an “inaccurate understanding of the full facts.”

Defendants can participate remotely in many initial court proceedings or seek to have their first appearance waived.
Involuntary manslaughter linked to negligence is a fourth-degree felony, punishable by up to 18 months in jail and a $5,000 fine under New Mexico law. The second set of manslaughter charges allege recklessness with a provision that could result in a mandatory five years in prison because the offense was committed with a gun.
The decision to charge Baldwin marks a stunning turn of events for an A-list actor whose 40-year career included the early blockbuster “The Hunt for Red October” and a starring role in the sitcom “30 Rock,” as well as iconic appearances in Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” and a film adaptation of David Mamet’s “Glengary Glen Ross.” In recent years, Baldwin was known for his impression of former President Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live.”

One needs to remember that there have only been two (2) negligent/accidental gunshots killings in over 40 years on set(s). Brandon Lee and Halyna Hutchins (Hexum doesn't count as just before he shot himself he said "They're only blanks." so he KNEW it was a loaded weapon), and BOTH of them got killed by a weapon HANDED TO OTHERS by Mr. Halls. HE would be the FIRST person who should never be on a set where weapons are in use.

Baldwin, by his other actions before the shooting gave the Armorer a perfect alibi. He had one of the most important duties for safety on a set with firearms (Armorer) not a dedicated stand alone position. He had her tasked with Prop Master, one of the busiest jobs on the set. Both need to be stand alone positions as they require complete focus. The only real and main fault of the young armorer was in accepting a job where that was being treated as an additional duty instead of her main and only responsibility.

She didn't hand him the loaded gun. She wasn't in the building, due to the other things Baldwin had her doing. Shmukatelli (not the armorer picked up the weapon and without checking, declared it cold and gave it to Baldwin the actor. The chain of failure had Baldwin on both ends of the string of failures. The producer made things unsafe, and the actor pulled the trigger.

NEW MEXICO – The Santa Fe District Attorney has officially charged Alec Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed with involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”

The charges follow DA Mary Carmack-Altweis’s announcement to prosecute the case, which stems from the fatal shooting that occurred at the Bonzana Creek Ranch near Santa Fe on October 21, 2021. The DA filed a 10-page statement of probable cause on Tuesday, supporting the charges against Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed.

Additionally, the film’s assistant director, David Halls, has agreed to a plea deal for a single count of negligent use of a deadly weapon, with a suspended sentence and 6 months of probation. Prosecutors claim Halls provided Baldwin with the gun that killed Hutchins, while Gutierrez-Reed was responsible for weapons on the set.

Aesop has a LOT of reality and cold water for all y'all who're salivating for Baldwin's balls and his blood.

He goes point by point in the indictment. And yes, he uses the STANDARDS AS SET BY CONTRACTS WITHIN THE INDUSTRY.
Watch those CAREFULLY as Elastic-woman-DA-has NOT got them right in the indictment.

It takes 2 posts, is NOT a short read and indicates that when the lawyers get down to it, the DA has NO CHANCE with what she has written.

Aesop is, as usual, pithy and adult in his word choices.

TL;DR: Baldwin had NO responsibility as a "Producer" except to provide the script and to show up and DO HIS OWN JOB...
There were around a dozen "producers".
And HIS job was to follow the rules (which he DID, based on the contracted rules). He had NO RESPONSIBILITY to make sure that others (ESPECIALLY [killer] HALLS) did THEIR jobs.

The trial will be EPIC and a LOT of folks will learn a LOT about stuff they THINK they know all there is to know.

(It ain't what people DON'T KNOW that is a problem, it's that what they THINK they KNOW that jest ain't SO!!!!!")

Yup I recall that horrible recording of him shaming his teen age, or preteen daughter. Shit like that leaves a lasting scar, and she had to endure being shamed in public. Decent men do not do that to people, let alone those that love them.

Too bad that I don't have the Lords wisdom, then I'd not be wondering why the wrong guy got to take the bullet.
