MonkeyPox Treatments / Planning / Prevention
[No Politics / No Reporting / No News]

Starting this thread for the ideas for treating MonkeyPox, per request by SouthernBreeze.

What is this thread for?
  • Ideas for the treatment of Monkeypox.
  • Items for first aid kits, emergency kits, SHTF kits, etc. specifically for Monkeypox.
  • Devices, processes, methods for the prevention of Monkeypox.

Please keep jokes and satire OFF of this thread. Some jokes and satire are not obvious as jokes or satire to everyone (especially in the crazy world and with unfamiliar topics).

Please Keep ALL politics, blame, reporting, news articles, current number of cases, discussion, etc. on the main Consolidated Monkeypox thread, located here:

Looked thru pages 50 to 56 of the Monkeypox - Consolidated Thread, and made these notes for myself. These include some of my ideas, as well as ideas from others listed on those pages.

Monkeypox Prevention Kit:
  • N95 Mask (not cloth masks), nitrile/latex gloves, face shields or goggles, and hand sanitizer.
  • Laundry HOT water, sanitizing cycles, extra laundry soap, Lysol Laundry Sanitizer
  • Hand washing soap
  • Extra pairs of shoes for everyone in household, to separate on-property & off-property footwear.
  • Trash bags big enough for holding clothes that may be infectious until they can be washed.
  • Bleach, concentrated Lysol
Monkeypox Treatment Kit:
  • Sarracenia Purpurea tincture*
  • Band-Aids, 2x2 bandages, gauze wraps
  • Bacitracin or Neosporin ointment
  • Saline wash/spray (wound cleaning)
  • Pain Killers
  • Eye Injury Kit (Sterile eye pad & roll of medical/paper tape)
  • Refresh eye drops, saline eyewash solutions, and eye cup
  • Epsom salt water (diluted until it does not burn) in a sanitized spray bottle.
  • Sleeping pills and aids (itch will make sleep almost impossible).

Anti-Itch Kit:
  • Calamine or Caladryl spray/lotion, cotton balls
  • Hydrocortisone anti-itch cream/spray
  • Lidocaine Topical Numbing cream / gel / spray (Alocan burn gel)
  • Benzocaine, a topical local anesthetic cream / spray (itch versions of Dermaplast spray)
  • Summerthyme's Soothing Salve (for itch)
  • Baking soda, zinc oxide cream, raw rolled oat oatmeal

Additional Useful Items:
  • Antibiotics, not for the Monkeypox virus but for co-occurring bacterial infections especially in the lungs.
  • Mupirocin antibiotic ointment: Is by RX only, is effective for MRSA and other serious Staph infections. Will not help with the Monkeypox virus, but will with co-occurring serious bacterial infections.
  • Tea tree essential oil, clove essential oil, and lavender essential oil.
  • Strongest pain relievers you can (legally) get. Monkeypox can be extremely painful, requiring daily morphine for some.
Methods & Uses:
  • For itching "my grandmother used to add some baking soda to my bathwater. For flea bites, she followed up with some zinc oxide cream."
  • For itching "an oatmeal bath works very well... put a cup of raw oatmeal (rolled oats) into something... old pantyhose, tied up in a handkerchief... and pour your bath water through it. Soak in it for 10-15 minutes."
  • Build a strip-down room, were any clothing that touched something can be removed and replaced before traversing household. Ideally the room would have a sink or way to wash hands.
  • Designate a quarantine room (for future use) in the household. Ideally with it's own bathroom, far from any AC/Heat air return intakes, that can be reasonably sealed. Pre-position some supplies that the infected might use on themselves in that room. Also have disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils for use by the infected.

*Sarracenia Purpurea tincture is a old alternative treatment that was believed by some to help with (or even cure) smallpox infections. There is quite a bit of reported anecdotal evidence, but no known scientific studies proving effectiveness.

[Note: Currently editing this list, so it might change]

Dang. Feels like Christmas in July; I'd just wanted a list of this info, but the ban on politics and joking make it extra yummy.

Yes, mupirocin was touted in big thread, proven with staph, and at one time available at our favorite pharmacy online, we are told.

Thank you, phloydius for starting the thread! I'm just now getting back to it. I've been pressure canning all day..........

Now, I can make my lists for medications, and try and come up with a plan of action/treatment for me and mine should it become necessary. I already had a list of items I wanted to get, but I just didn't have time to go back through the main thread to make sure I had everything that was mentioned, and especially, how to use some of the remedies.

Great information all in one place.

OK, this feels ghoulish to me... but I'm developing a skin/pox treatment for my family. Should I offer it for sale? I'll have no chance to test it (at least I hope not). But I have seen some of the active ingredients cure viral skin conditions and help heal open wounds.

After talking it over with an astute member, I decided it would have to be a two part treatment. A spray with anti viral, drying and painkilling properties, and then a salve with antibacterial and herbs for itching?

Any interest?

I need to ask, because I'll need to harvest the base herbs now, and order more oil. Otherwise, I'm going to make a smallish batch and pray I never get to test it for real! (Although I will be providing samples to family to see if anyone has any sort of adverse reaction. )

We probably should start a new thread for this, so I .don't derail this one! I'll start one in the Corkboard.

Damn, I REALLY can't believe we're doing this again!

I remember reading somewhere here that chaga could help, but don’t know if it was mentioned how or in what form (tea, etc). Just thought I’d mention and hopefully someone can chime in with more information.

I also had written down on my list of notes (that I had started when reading on the MP thread) someone mentioned Defense soap. Again, I need to read upon more information for this -

Curious on thoughts to using apple cider vinegar (diluted) as a spray? I imagine would sting but would it help with infections or healing?

My bottle says: 150 lbs and under 20 drops 3x daily.
150 lbs and overup to 40 drops 3x daily.Children5-7 drops 3x daily.
I have read elsewhere you mix with 1/2 glass water.Ive also seen every 6 hours.
I don't know about topical use,not alot of info out there!

What is the strength of the Sarracenia Purpurea bottle you have? I have three bottles each a difference strength: 200CH, 6CH, 30CH.

My understanding is that the 6CH is the strongest of the 3.

My treatment/prevention list so far, which is subject to change as more recommendations are listed, includes gloves, masks, hand sanitizers, bandages of all sizes, clorox, epsom salt, baking soda, white vinegar, natural honey, eye wash solution, eye drops, anti-itch steroid cream, antibiotic cream, calamine lotion, tea tree essential oil, clove essential oil, coconut oil, Tylenol, and Aleve. I have prescription pain killers if they should be needed. I also have Lysol laundry sanitizer for washing clothes and antibacterial soaps. I like Dr. Bonner's pure hemp peppermint castille soap. Also, homemade lye soap with cinnamon and oatmeal.

I just thought I would post my list to give others an idea.

Found this google document, made by one of the positive cases in the hospital (listed in the main Monkeypox Thread) with what they found helpful in the treatment of the symptoms of Monkeypox.

Specifically listed in the document:

Remedies that might help and/or to ask your doctor about:
  • Antivirals, primarily Tecovirimat, but can be hard to get**
  • Narcotic painkillers, especially for constant pain and sleep issues
  • Hydroxyzine pills for itching and to help sleep
  • OralJet for oral lesions
  • Epsom salt sitz baths for perianal/genital lesion pain
  • Steroid/cortizone creams for lesions (debated by doctors, more info needed)
  • Sleep aids (meltaonin, etc)
  • Tylenol and Advil to alternate and maximize daily dosage allowances
  • Lidocaine cream to numb pain (mixed anecdotal results)
  • Vaseline for perianal area
    • Air interacting with the sores can cause pain. Adding a thick layer over the area to completely coat before bed might help with sleep.
  • Anti-scarring ointments for when the lesions have scabbed and are falling off

Sorry if discussed elsewhere and I missed it, but what about Ivermectin?
I have seen Nothing either.
The 'rona was rna.
The mp is DNA.
Completely different structure.

I guess we'll wait for anecdotal evidence whether or not it may help.

This is a heck of way to go through pandemics. Anecdotes, witch doctor remedies and lyin' health care professionals.

No offense to witch doctors including them with the Faucis of the world.
I bought another bottle of "blu kote" for animals. I'm not above trying it on myself if needed.
We ordered the s. Purpurea early. It took about 3 weeks for delivery.
Order it yesterday if you feel it may help.

Eta: no one has mentioned "sugar-dine" yet. Mixing sugar and povidone iodine into a topical dressing may be beneficial. Just a guess...

In the event that I or mine actually experience any lesions or pocks as this rolls through.....I intend to rely on strong white oak bark tincture, common plantain leaf poultices and varying concentrations of peroxide (call it experimental ?) for skin treatments.

Maybe someone else would consider any of those worthy of looking into ?

Would that be a make your own white oak bark tincture, or store bought? There are plenty of easily identifiable white oaks around here.

Making White Oak Bark Extract (Tincture)
Posted on November 14, 2010 by Bettina Colonna Essert
I have heard that using white oak extract on dental cavities can help stall progression of the cavity. It’s worth a try, I think, since we’re not willing to have one filled just yet. Here is the method for making white oak bark extract.
Gather white oak twigs, pruners and a sharp, strong veggie peeler. You will also want a large napkin or piece of newsprint to catch your peelings.
Use a hand towel to rub the loose particles and dirt off of the twig, then use the peeler to peel them. Make sure you get the green part as this is the important part of the extract.

Once you have all of your twigs peeled, toss them aside for the kindling pile and gather all of your bark curls. Put the bark into a large Mason jar and cover it by at least 1″ with vodka (or brandy or Everclear).
Label, date and sit in a cool, dark place to draw for at least 2 weeks. It’s best to start extracts (or tinctures) on the New Moon and let them draw until the Full Moon. If you can let this sit for a month, that’s good, if you can only let it sit for 2 weeks, okay.

When it’s ready, line a wire mesh strainer with muslin or other clean, cotton, sheet-like material and place the strainer over a bowl. Pour the extract into the strainer and let the liquid perk through the fabric. When most of the liquid is out, use the back of a spoon or your hands to press the bark to get the last moisture (and most concentrated good stuff!) out of the bark.
It’s important to use the fabric to strain because getting the bark clean is a bit of a problem and you really want to catch any stray dirt or other debris. You can simply grab the fabric and squeeze it over the bowl. Discard your bark in the compost bin and bottle your extract.
White oak bark extract does a lot of good things. I used the bark of twigs that we pruned from our trees because using the older bark from the trunk would mean possibly damaging the tree. You can order it online.

I’ve been researching medical grade honey as well. I’ve read that Manuka honey with a UMF factor of 15+ or higher can be sued as well. Amazon has a book for .99 cents that is very informative. I know hospitals use it for wounds and burns…have not tested it yet just so you know. I figured better to have on hand than not and can be used for a myriad of other things.

Even better might be honey and betadine..

I've got my formulas pretty well figured out, and the herbs infusing in the oil are nearly done. I need to figure out the best way to emulsify the essential oils into the spray, but it seems to be coming together. I added a bunch of chamomile blossoms to the oil (DDIL has been growing some herbs for years, so I've got a plentiful supply of Calendula and chamomile... we picked 2 gallons of calendula flowers Sunday!) and it smells incredibly good!

I just wish I had a way to test it! Even cowpox is pretty well unknown these days, so my usual "testing lab" (ie: the barn) isn't available!

Testing is a problem, if we confine our thinking to not include God. Summerthyme, maybe you should ask Him, if it is right, or what to change here or there, to be of best benefit for people. He knows. Right now, He is the only answer. May God bless your efforts!

The only article I have found is linked below…BUT not for use of honey…just the Saracena Purpurea that some Native Americans used for Small pox. I believe that has been mentioned here before.

For the first few infectious days, Monkeypox may be mistaken for a cold, covid, or the flu.
Patient become infectious to others at the very first sign of symptoms, typically via airborne transmission.

--- Simple Summary ---
Early Symptoms: Swollen lymph nodes, fever, headache, cough, muscle & back pain, fatigue, chills
Middle Symptoms: Painful rash & pimples
Later Symptoms: Sores that resemble blisters & abscesses
Final Symptoms: Score scab over, dry, and fall off

--- Detailed Summary ---
Day 0: Infection Date
+4-17 Days: Start of first symptom (Mean of 8 Days)

First Symptoms (for 1-3 Days): light dry cough, tickle in the throat (caused by infectious sores lower in the throat).

Second Symptoms (for 2-4 Days): Worse cough, hacking, shortness of breath, turn into flu-like tiredness & body aches, slight headache, loss of concentration. Sores or ulcers in the throat and mouth (may be very small and hard to see), chills, mild fever (99F-100F), enlarged lymph nodes.

Third Symptoms: Red inflamed bump similar to a bug bite or pimple in body-wide random locations (not isolated to only one part of the body) or small round weeping wound with a white border. Sores in full digestive track (including anus) that may cause blood or puss in stool. Increase in fever (up to 103F). Tiredness, body aches, and headaches become severe.

Fourth Symptoms: Inflamed bumps turn into blister-like, or syphilis-like oozing wounds. Severe itching. Wounds turn deeper with a thicker wound edge. Fever (up to 104F). Morphine may not eliminate severe pain in more severe cases.

Final Phase (Recovery or Death): Recovery -- Fever & headache start reducing in severity. Wounds start to regress and itches starts to lessen over several weeks. Stay very weak & tired with lagging cough.

Note: This information is based on subjective reports on social media from patients as well as official information. It is entirely possible that there are errors, and is the information to the best of my knowledge -- but should NOT be considered medical advice!

MMS (Master Mineral Solution). I drift away from this topic and then information will pop back up and pull me back in to listening to and watching videos about this. I've purchased some Sodium Chlorite via Amazon. I copied and printed the directions for making it. I believe now is the time to make a batch. The videos I've seen show this elixir a miracle in a bottle!!! So many healing testimonies for so many virus and diseases.

There are very informative videos here:

Basic “recipe” for making a little less than 1 liter of MMS (that is, 22.4% sodium chlorite in distilled water). And HCl 4% as activator. This amount of sodium chlorite could last a four person family for well over one year depending on how you use it.

I've used it with DMSO to stop a tooth ache in it's tracks. It took 3 doses over a day and a half. I've taken up to 15 drops with no issues. Amazing stuff. Don't believe the fear porn big pharma is spreading on Google.
