Think "Grand Solar Minimum" for the cause of this, its only going to get worse.I just saw an article in the economic collapse saying some lice was destroying the Florida orange crop back to 1945 levels when we had 139 million people versus 329 million in 2022. Massive pricehikes for oj plus supply issues. I just bought 2 florida natural 89 oz since they last till mid march.

Around here, (N MN) ring sausage commonly comes in two varieties - ring smoked sausage or polska kielbasa. Usually goes on sale for 2.50-3.00/lb. You can find it everywhere. Most places also sell potato sausage in a ring.I just found out something I grew up on, ( in MICHIGAN) that I thought was as common as potatoes, is UNHEARD of, here in Washinton state! We had it at least 3 to 5 times a month because it was CHEAP, served as the meat and came in different flavors, It was about a pound of meat, or pound and a half, a RING BOLOGNA. A short very fat (big, not greasy) sausage, enough for four people that was shaped in a plump ring. It was almost like Hot Dog meat, but not quite, it was more moist. It popped with juice when mama cut it. I liked garlic flavored the best. We ate it with beans or macaroni and cheese. Back then, I am sure mom didn't pay over a half dollar for one that fed the four of us.
Any body else ever heard of it ?

They must not have any Germans or Pollocks in Washington State.

I remember having it. I haven’t see it in a long time.
I love this recipe:If it’s what I’m thinking of, yes!
Keilbasa rings!
To this day I buy that to put in green beans and potatoes just like mom did!
Yep, she’d feed all six of us on a huge pot

NOPE, it's NOT Kielbasa. We got plenty of that here. But not RING Bologna. The sausage at least twice or more, as fat ias kielbasa in diameter,, and has no lumps, more likeIf it’s what I’m thinking of, yes!

Update. I'm talking meatloaf, not Meatloaf. For me, meatloaf needs a double loaf pan. The interior pan has drainage holes, to get rid of excess grease while baking.

Just got back from Safeway. More holes than I have ever seen in the store.... low on milk, no biscuits, no ramen, very little soup, bread, frozen meals, frozen potatoes. Lots of people shopping for a meal or two.
I ate my y2k pasta that was 14 yrs old and it was perfect.Fortunately pasta can be stored for a very long time.
the pizza places around here haven't had celery since summer. Said they can't get it.I ran to Harris Teeter on my way home from work today. We have a winter storm watch here in Charleston, SC. We expect freezing rain overnight and possible ice on the roads and bridges into tomorrow morning. They even closed schools here because of the potential for inclement weather. I know y’all up North are probably laughing at us. Our bridges get very icy though and they take no chances since we don’t have the equipment for the roads. We are on the edge of the system so hoping not too much ice. I thought I’d make a beef stew tomorrow since I plan on staying in. The store was a madhouse. I’ve never seen the produce look so sparse. And the meat was decimated. I was lucky to get a pot roast for my stew. But there was no celery to be had. Zero regular, organic, stalks or chopped celery. I guess everyone is making soup tonight. Every aisle was packed and it was hard to move. Lots of holes, but I got what I needed other than celery. View attachment 314840
I rarely if ever drink it, but a yr ago I drank a small bottle and in an hour or so my throat started getting thick like gonna close up. It lasted for hours. Allergic? Can't drink it anymore. This^^^ I love, love, love potatoes, but I'm deathly allergic to them now. Every time I'd eat potato products as a kid I'd get a migraine. I'm also very allergic to citrus, even though I enjoy the tartness and the flavors of the various fruits, eating citrus always left me with a weird stomach ache.
possums are sweet and docile and they only live under 2 yrs in the wild. They can have ten babies. They stay on Mom's back till they fall offMy 2 1/2 cats are outdoor cats that have all adopted me. They get a tiny can each of canned food every morning and if Mr. 1/2 doesn't show up, the others get his wet food. I also put about a cupful of dry food in each of three bowls and if any of them don't like their breakfast, they can just eat dry food or go hungry and one of the others will get more canned food.
There's usually a little dry food left at the end of the day and then after dark, there is a possum that comes around and cleans up any remaining food, including what may have spilled out of the dishes. I used to trap all the wildlife, but I've heard that possoms will sniff out ticks and eat them, so this one can be my fourth adopted stray, as far as I'm concerned. A side benefit of the possum's clean-up might be that there's no food left to attract my former problem of skunks and raccoons. Plus I no longer get swarms of ants in and around the bowls, which are very near my back porch door.
Bad food. Has corn and soy in it. GMO. Yrs ago had recall cuz of some kind of deadly mold from corn. I give mine lamb and rice Rachel Ray. I tasted it. Real good tasting. I ate 5 pieces it was so good. Has no corn, wheat or soy.Ol' Roy is the WORST dog food out there. It's actually a joke amongst animal caregivers. It should never be fed to an animal one loves.
I never buy most can dog food cuz they have "animal byproducts which could be brains, feathers, chicken feet and beaks etc. Horses??You’re much much better just making his good at home than that Ole Roy stuff.
But I guess if making homemade is out of the question for whatever reason then it would have to do.
Gas? In NY we pay $3.49 for the cheap fuel.Errand morning today because the weather for the rest of the week is on a downhill slide. (N MN)
Did another Walmart pickup order, and there were no substitutions, even on what I'd consider to be a low-stock Monday after the weekend. The usual, fresh produce like leaf spinach, bell peppers, yellow onions, mushrooms, clementines, bananas. Eggs, butter, cheese, and added on 20 lbs of chicken quarters at .66/lb....maybe not the greatest price, but good enough for some variety from beef and pork, and you sure as heck can't grow 'em for that. Household, like aluminum foil, garbage bags, cleaning supplies.
I love to eat Chicken breast. Very tender.I use chicken breast. So no bone problem’s
A young laying hen here in Hawaii sells for $35 to $40 dollars. Her eggs will sell for $8 a dozen !
A baby chick goes for around $10.
I've noticed that too. Here's what I do. After I take out the numbers of crackers that I need, I fold the paper sleeve into a triangle shape and then over again several times. Then I tape it closed. It doesn't let the crackers go bad.
I totally agree. I always thought that I would die before I ate my preps, but it looks like I may eat them after all. I have rice, barley, oats, beans, lentils, pasta, popcorn, split peas.....and I forget what else. I have a little of those prep foods from survival preps or whatever it's called. Mostly dry goods, but spam too., And extra bags of dog kibble and dry cat foodI went to the store this afternoon. I picked out what last year would have cost me about $85. The bill was $135!!!!!!
I don’t see how lower and fixed income people are making it right now. I really don’t.
This is beginning to look very scary. I have SOME powdered potatoes and pd milk saved but not much.My GF picked up a couple Rib eye steaks Sat for dinner good size steaks and only 13.00 for two. Went to get a couple of potatoes to bake and there was zero stock of fresh potatoes. She said they had just a few sweet potatoes. Instant potatoes was her next choice and she said that section was bare bones.
Over all lots of holes and every week it is getting worse.

You may be shortening your dog's life by feeding inferior dog food. I used to buy the frozen pork roll, cook it with a good amount of water and add either elbow pasta or dry oatmeal. Mixed good. They loved it.My dog is not crazy about olroy but will gobble it up if something tasty is poured over it. I have a large amount of soft canned beef stew that we get in commodities. DH doesn't like it and it makes me gag. Yesterday I had the bright idea of using i with the dog food. Its free and "lucky" will love it.
God is good all the time
