It has six zones of heat and massage too. Everything works perfectly. I feel so empowered! I can stand up without killing myself. It has two controls: one for the recline/lift and one for the heat and massage. (I’m using those functions now, and it feels so good.) I’m very pleased right now. This is a mid-priced chair, so great value. Now I have to go finish cutting up the packing boxes.

WOOT!

I've been looking at those. What kind did you get? The think I'm worried about is what happens if/when the power goes out? And especially if it is in the up position?

I'd like to get two of them, but it would probably be hard to even find one, at this point.

Awesome! Glad it works well for you. I’m always furniture fearful because what you choose can seem like the right thing at the time and you move it in and find all sorts of things that you hate about it.

i had never heard of a lift chair before. i went and looked them up. interesting. i have had times that my body is messed up something awful, and yah.....getting up from sitting can just feel like everything is falling apart.

this seems like an awesome idea for people that have difficulty going from sitting to standing. my dad would like one i think. bad backs just suck.

and this product has chairs for little people. i think it goes all the way down to 4'11.

i put my height in (5'2"), and saw they can accommodate us runts! that is very nice. it is tough when you are hurting so much and trying to climb UP into a chair to sit down and get comfortable and your feet don't touch the floor. it makes me feel like edith ann.

Lily Tomlin as Edith Ann And that's the truth! | Edith ...

i know that sounds funny, it does. but on a functional level, it is a huge pain in the butt (sometimes literally lol). or trying to get up from the chair, but your feet don't touch, you are in such pain, you are stuck until someone comes along to help you out of a chair. this is a great thing. all you need to do is push the button and it helps to stand you up!

i'm am glad you found something that will help you get up and sit down more comfortably!

It’s a CANMOV model PUG258Y.

The seller had a $100 off instant coupon plus free assembly (worth $94.) However, once you get the components out of the boxes, assembly takes 10 minutes and no tools at all. Shipment was quick; I had both cartons within 5 days.

Note that this was a purchase through Amazon, so I knew I was protected if I needed a refund.

It took Hairy a few minutes to figure out how to climb on me over the arm of the loveseat plus the arm of the chair. Once he had that down, he’s happy again. That heat feels incredible on my lower back.

ETA: I researched these chairs for months before I got this one. It’s very important to read the negative reviews on any big ticket product from Amazon.

There are aftermarket emergency power packs you can get, usually powered by two 9v batteries.

I'm glad you got one with heat and massage. Does it do zero gravity, too? Our dog likes to sit along side DH's chair when he has the massage going. I think it helps his old bones. Your pups might find comfort there, too. The only complaint about the chair is that it is not soft and comfy.

Note that over this past week, it had become very difficult for me to get off the couch. If I was half-high on Vicodin I could do it, else it was agony.

I don’t know about 0G, but it reclines almost to a bed. Additionally, the cushions are very firm, which is important for heavy people.

i noticed certain things on the website, and then you said this.

i don't want to sound like jerk, but i don't know how else to ask it.

are these built extra tough and durable for very heavy people? is that part of the marketing? i didn't go over the whole site, but it seemed like they were trying to say it without actually saying it?

I think the firmness is to help one get out of the chair easier. It's harder to get out of something soft. When you are trying to get up, you grab onto something solid, not a pillow.

CANMOV makes a whole line of "lift chairs", including models aimed at large and/or heavy customers. For example, my stepfather would need the model for large people because he weighs around 300lb, but he also stood 6' 6" when he was healthy. So yes, in this case, this is one of their models for larger customers. And all companies that sell such products tend to tread a bit gingerly around the actual reason for the substantial-ness of their products, because it never helps your marketing campaign to tell your customers that they're fat-asses.

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
Great buy! If it’s helping you out AND you’re happy with the purchase it’s a double bonus.

I have to admit that various parts are starting to get a bit creaky, but at 61 with some time in then body shop it’s to be expected.

Glad Hairy has adapted. He’s a smart one though.

My Uncle had to have a lift chair...I insisted he get one as his Idiopathic Liver Disease worsened. He was very thankful for it. Changed what was left of his life. After he passed, I moved into the house. His mattress was SO crapped out I ditched it and slept in the lift chair exclusively for 5 months. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS!!! Almost crippled me. Just beware, the temptation to make it your bed can be detrimental.

What!!! No built in mini fridge????

No fridge, no cup holders, no USB outlets. Now, had the chair i ultimately selected had anything extra, that would’ve been fine. But I researched for reliability and the ability to adequately support a heavy person. Those were my two primary criteria. What made it so difficult was that I couldn’t try each chair out. Sure, I could have driven all over Austin and tried one here, and one there. And ultimately pay double for the item. But the thought of driving in the city was just not something I wanted to do.

I’m happy for you Dennis. My lift chair really helps me with my balance getting up and it is very comfortable to sleep in each night

There have been times when I have had so much back or knee pain or when I've had pneumonia that I COULD NOT sleep in my bed. I HAD to sleep in my recliner. That was the only way I could get any sleep. Same with my dh after he had open heart surgery. He could not get in and out of bed. Several times, we slept in our recliners for several months at a time. And it didn't hurt us at all! In fact, it was the only way we could keep moving and living. Otherwise, we would not have been able to get any sleep. So there are times that people may need to sleep in their recliners. However, I am not advocating that people do this all the time, forever and ever. For the sake of back and body and leg circulation, most people need to lie down and stretch full out on a bed at night.

Thanks for the info, Dennis. I'm going to talk to my dh about getting a couple of these. I have been looking off and on at lift chairs/recliners, but hadn't seen anything yet that met my qualifications for durability, price, use, etc. So thanks for doing the research, the information, and the "plug" for your choice.

ETA - Did you get the battery pack for when power goes out? If you know where to get it, can you give a link?

I have not yet tried to find a battery pack. One thing at a time. A big reason this chair is needed is because I take a diuretic. Once it kicks in, I have to get up and pee about every 10 minutes for a couple of hours. This put a huge strain on my back and left knee. Not any more. :D

My lift chair is 20+ years old and creaks when I operate it, and has no bells and whisles but I love it. I've been sleeping in it for over a year . I don't wake up aching all over anymore.

God is good all the time

Judy
Heck fire - I creak upon operation also. Lol. Glad you like it though. I know a couple of back sufferers who could use this!!

Where I am supposed to be.
I love the heated seats in my car, never thought I'd need such a luxury but dang is it ever nice when I'm in a lot of pain.
I love that feature of heated seats too!!! First vehicle I've had with them. I've used them with the AC on....lol...soothing to the lower back. And I have a huge recliner that knocks me unconscious EVERY night. Mouth open, laptop on my lap, hand on the mouse. I'm sure it's a scary sight!!!:geek:

Glad to hear it went well, anyway.

I had a recliner maybe 15 years ago that had heat and massage. Could spend all afternoon in that chair. Hopefully yours works out as well!

Dennis all I can say is, that will be the one of the nicer things to happen in your life. I remember after my car accident in the 80’s when I got home, blue cross put one in my house when I got home, one of the greater things built for the handi-cap next to the stair lift.
