Alana McLaughlin, the second openly transgender woman to compete in MMA in the United States, won her debut Friday night via submission at the Combate Global prelims in Miami, Fla.
The 38-year-old used a rear-naked choke against Celine Provost to end the match 3 minutes, 32 seconds into the second round.
McLaughlin, who began her gender transition after leaving the U.S. Army Special Forces in 2010, said she hopes to be a pioneer for transgender athletes in combat sports.

“I want to pick up the mantle that Fallon put down,” McLaughlin told Outsports before the fight, referring to Fallon Fox, who in 2012 became the first transgender woman to fight in MMA. “Right now, I’m following in Fallon’s footsteps. I’m just another step along the way and it’s my great hope that there are more to follow behind me.”
Fox, who sat cageside Friday, last fought in 2014. Four years later, Patricio Manuel became the first transgender male to compete in a pro boxing match in the United States when he beat Hugo Aguilar via unanimous decision.

McLaughlin began training a year ago and was cleared to fight by the Florida State Boxing Commission after having her hormone levels tested, according to ESPN.
She said it was a “nightmare” finding an opponent.
“I have nothing but respect for [Provost],” McLaughlin said.

The fight was originally scheduled for Aug. 6 but was postponed after Provost, a 35-year-old boxing and MMA veteran, tested positive for the coronavirus.
Provost landed multiple punches in the first round before McLaughlin came out on top.
As she was declared the victor, McLaughlin wore a shirt with the phrase, “End Trans Genocide.”

Her debut comes as multiple states argue bills aimed at restricting transgender athletes from participating in youth, high school and college sports.
“If we want to see more trans athletes, if we want to see more opportunities for trans kids, we’re going to have to work out way into those spaces and make it happen,” McLaughlin told Outsports. “It’s time for trans folks to be in sports and be more normalized.”

Kaitlin Jenner spoke up on this. He/she said that if an individual goes through puberty, the testostrone leads to higher bone density and more muscle mass. It's giving an unfair advantage to the tranny. Sorry, if there is a "y" chromosome, you cannot compete against those having just "x" chromosomes.

It should always be female vs. female (both with only "x" chromosomes); Tranny vs. tranny or fantasy league (those with a "y" chromosome but want everyone to pretend they are female); and male vs. male (those with a "y" chromosomes). The amount of transition completed and testosterone in ones system at the time of the contest should have nothing to do with it.

BTW...it's beyond obvious that McLaughlin is a male with a good amount of testosterone floating around in his body. The first clue was the jaw line. Shame on the MMA. They will lose more fans for allowing this farce than it will ever gain them. What was it that Trump said...get woke and turn to shit?

Wrong. They should never be allowed in women’s sports. They’re bone density and muscle mass will always be double that of women. As long as MEN are allowed to compete directly with WOMEN, women’s sports is dead in this country.

Oh I definitely understand those points and agree. However, it the ring masters running the circus want to keep the monkeys from running amok there has to be some rules. Even if the rules look crazy ... crazier ... that the lunacy that is already taking place.

There will ultimately be no female monkeys (at least real ones) to run around the rings. Thus, "women's sports" will become "men's sports, trans division."

Well maybe fag boys have fantasised about beating up 'tough girls' but I'd think that market is fairly small. I wouldn't be surprised to see MMA viewership take a drop when such pairings are on the card. Time will tell though.

there's levels in everything 'former special forces' doesn't clearly say this is an actual acredited operator. McLaughlin may have washed out before graduating; still, in my eyes, this is some guy beating a woman up. 'Choking her into submission' no less which conjures up some very ugly images.............

see if there was an 'I wanna be a woman' division, that would keep the field level. As it stands, if I see any hype about 'trans' anything competing in the female class, I'm pretty sure to pass on it.

If I told my wife about this, there'd be a little mushroom cloud over mid-town Memphis

Reference point: I'm 65.

This is the aspect of the whole transgender-rights issue that really chaps my arse. It was explained to me by a millennial that women in my age group are considered "second-wave" feminists. The suffragettes were the first wave; those of us who backed equal pay and Title 9 in the '60s, '70s and '80s are the second wave.

Now we have the third wave that supports gutting everything women gained in the second wave, to appease a confused and disordered minority. Or maybe that's the fourth wave. I do not know and I no longer care--Google it if you do. I am locking the door, closing the blinds, turning off the TV, stuffing my feet into my crappy old Crocs, and heading out back with my dog to prep the potato buckets for fall.

NOPE!! They should NEVER be allowed to compete in female sports or anything else for that matter. Until the actually DNA of every single cell in their bodies is fully FEMALE (which will never happen).....they are male - PERIOD! You are what your DNA says you are. Anything else is either an EXTREMELY rare genetic mutation or a MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... they hate genetic females, they want us all dead except a few that will give birth to genetic males and females... they believe when all of the genetic females are dead/gone that genetic straight males will submit to laying with them... Sodom and Gomorrah anyone?
