Putin Asks Reporter If US 'Assassinated' Ashli Babbitt

Days ahead of his summit with President Biden in Geneva, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the United States was being hypocritical in its criticism of the way his country handles internal dissent.

During an interview with NBC News, Putin said Russia was no worse than the United States in this regard, and used the government's handling of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as an example.

He even pointed to the arrests of hundreds of suspects in the U.S. Capitol riot and the death of one rioter as proof that the U.S. also targets its citizens for their political opinions, just as Russia is accused of stifling dissent. (The FBI has arrested people for the violence inflicted on the seat of government in Washington, rather than for their political opinions.)
"We have a saying: 'Don't be mad at the mirror if you are ugly,'" he said. "It has nothing to do with you personally. But if somebody blames us for something, what I say is, why don't you look at yourselves? You will see yourselves in the mirror, not us."
Putin showed flashes of defiance when he was asked whether it was a "coincidence" that several other political rivals had been assassinated in recent years.
"We don't have this kind of habit, of assassinating anybody," Putin said when he was asked whether he ordered Navalny killed. (NBC News)
He then countered by asking whether the U.S. was guilty of assassinating Ashli Babbitt during the Capitol riot.

“Secondly, I want to ask you: Did you order the assassination of the woman who walked into the Congress and who was shot and killed by a policeman?” Putin said. “Do you know that 450 individuals were arrested after entering Congress? And they didn’t go there to steal a laptop. They came with political demands. 450 people have been detained. They’re facing jail time, from 15 to 20 years. And they came to Congress with political demands. Isn’t that persecution for political opinions?”

Babbitt's family has filed a lawsuit for records from Washington, D.C., that would name the identity of the officer who fatally shot her. The Department of Justice said in April it would not pursue charges against the U.S. Capitol Police officer responsible for her death.

"The investigation further determined that Ms. Babbitt was among a mob of people that entered the Capitol building and gained access to a hallway outside 'Speaker’s Lobby,' which leads to the Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives," the DOJ said in a press release. "At the time, the USCP was evacuating Members from the Chamber, which the mob was trying to enter from multiple doorways. USCP officers used furniture to barricade a set of glass doors separating the hallway and Speaker’s Lobby to try and stop the mob from entering the Speaker’s Lobby and the Chamber, and three officers positioned themselves between the doors and the mob. Members of the mob attempted to break through the doors by striking them and breaking the glass with their hands, flagpoles, helmets, and other objects. Eventually, the three USCP officers positioned outside the doors were forced to evacuate. As members of the mob continued to strike the glass doors, Ms. Babbitt attempted to climb through one of the doors where glass was broken out. An officer inside the Speaker’s Lobby fired one round from his service pistol, striking Ms. Babbitt in the left shoulder, causing her to fall back from the doorway and onto the floor. A USCP emergency response team, which had begun making its way into the hallway to try and subdue the mob, administered aid to Ms. Babbitt, who was transported to Washington Hospital Center, where she succumbed to her injuries."

The statement continued: "The investigation revealed no evidence to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that the officer willfully committed a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 242. Specifically, the investigation revealed no evidence to establish that, at the time the officer fired a single shot at Ms. Babbitt, the officer did not reasonably believe that it was necessary to do so in self-defense or in defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber."

Babbitt was unarmed at the time she was fatally shot.

Putin to press Biden on human rights of Capitol rioters, Russia says

Russian President Vladimir Putin is prepared to press President Biden on the “human rights” of Capitol rioters when they meet this month in Switzerland, the country’s top diplomat says.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said alleged rioters are being “persecuted” and that Putin will turn the tables on Biden over US support for Russian dissidents, such as jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who last year survived poisoning attempts.

“We are ready to talk, we have no taboo topics. We will discuss whatever we think is necessary. We will be ready to answer the questions that the American side will raise. This also applies to human rights,” Lavrov reportedly said at a press conference Monday in Moscow.

“For example, we are following with interest the persecution of those persons who are accused of the riots on January 6 this year,” Lavrov said.

He said that in the US, “a lot of really interesting things are happening from the point of view of the rights of the opposition and protecting those rights.”

The Capitol riot delayed certification of Biden’s victory in the Electoral College and resulted in significant property damage to the building. Former President Donald Trump was impeached a second time for allegedly inciting the mob, but the Senate acquitted him after he left office.
About 440 people have been arrested for participating in the Capitol riot, including 125 people charged with assaulting or impeding police, according to the Justice Department.

The FBI is continuing to distribute wanted fliers to locate additional participants. Some critics say many defendants allegedly did little more than trespass inside the building.

Three Trump supporters died of medical emergencies during hours of mayhem, and another, Ashli Babbitt, 36, was fatally shot by a police officer as she tried to climb through a busted-out window into the House Speaker’s Lobby.

One Capitol Police officer, 42-year-old Brian Sicknick, himself a Trump supporter, died of a stroke after fighting off the crowd. His death originally was misreported as the result of a bludgeoning with a fire extinguisher. At least two police officers and one alleged rioter died by suicide following the riot.

Biden will meet with Putin for the first time of his presidency in about two weeks in Geneva.

The meeting follows a rocky period for US-Russia relations punctuated by the hack last month of the Colonial Pipeline by cybercriminals suspected of residing in Russia. The hack caused gas stations to run dry throughout the southeastern US. This week, a large US meat company, JBS Foods, revealed its operations have been crippled by a similar cyberattack.

Biden in April offered Putin a summer summit during a phone call in which he informed him of US plans to expel diplomats and apply new sanctions as punishment for the SolarWinds hack and alleged Russian meddling in the 2020 election. The Biden administration last month, however, decided not to pursue sanctions to deter the construction of the Nord Steam 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, which the US fears will make NATO allies economically dependent on Russia.

If you get called out by a former KGB agent for human rights abuses face it, your F'd.

In one corner, you have a president who cowers from reporters in fear of not following his handlers' instructions.

In the other corner, you have a president who asks the questions of reporters that the reporters themselves dare not ask.

And of all things, the latter is from a country that we not too long ago associated with the kinds of things America is now doing...

Those who were paying attention know THEY assassinated Ashli - this is obvious because absolutely nothing was done in public about her shooting. THEY decided the guy was a 'hero' and swept it under the rug. And ANTIFA was right there to instigate and record the whole thing. And that cop was waiting....

Putin is absolutely correct in his assessment of this, imo. A bunch of thugs are running the country. And Putin knows this. He can't trust THEM.

And, not to mention the fact that people jailed for this "crime" have been kept in solitary confinement for months now with no access to lawyers, no bail, no hearings - the DOJ is sweating them trying to wring some conspiracy out of them when every sound-thinking person knows there was only criminal intent in the minds of the planted leftists who stormed inside the building.

Putin is right on the mark and I hope he throws it all in Bai-Den's face repeatedly while Pedo Joe doesn't even have the ability to do anything but offer blank looks and angry stutters.

Putin's a little guy but I doubt Pedo Joe will threaten to take him behind the barn and whoop his ass (at least until he's safely back behind the DC barricades back home). Vlad has been a daily-practicing black belt for decades, I understand. It'd be funny to have the two security detachments stand by while Putin wiped the floor with the sorry bastard. Well, not funny but still .....

It’s beyond hypocritical for the US government to lecture ANY person or nation on human rights abuse when the drains of American cities are clogged with the blended remains of 60+ million human children!

Seriously, who’s the real monster in all of this…

I can respect President Putin far more than I can 99.5% of the people running my own country. I believe he does care about his country and people, knowing if they are doing well, he will be doing well. There is never any doubt about where he stands. He tells you. I may not agree with his actions but I can respect him.

It was probably the right decision to have Slo Joe back out. How does that old saying go? Better to keep your mouth shut and leave people wondering than to open it and remove all doubt.

Putin is MRGA, he'll never be about MAGA.

This is all calculated to divide and weaken his #1 enemy..US. If he could get the US in a civil war we'd be eating one another and Russia would be stronger for it.

But ya, its still fun to watch the left squirm when he calls them on their hypocrisy

Putin has to deal with the same see eye aye and their NGO's working on regime change in Russia, who accomplished the regime change here last November.

The people in Washington on Jan 6 were against the coup here, and that's why our regime hates them so.

The globalist cabal wants absolute power, and I'm in favor of anyone who stands against them.

Kind of hard for the "pot" to call the "kettle" black when we don't have our own act together. Not to mention sending a senile political hack to do mental battle with a black belt KGB veteran. Bidet's not going to scare or intemidate anyone with his moronic babble!

We are soooooo screwed!

Russia calling the US out on Human Rights violations? Russia leader supporting political prisoners in the US and their right to political demonstration? I admire him for calling our government out for their hypocrisy. I'm also sad that he's right.

I was just wondering if we could send in an extraction team to bring Biden back to US. I feel like he has embarrassed us enough in one trip.

True enough.

Putin didn't rise to and remain in power by being a choir boy.

But since the current US regime/deep state seems to hate him almost as much as they hate US patriots, I have to believe he's doing something right.

Don't believe we are his #1 enemy. Eastern Europe and associates and NATO are his biggest headaches. China is a paper Tiger and he wants to reinstate the Russia during the cold war.
Our presence in Europe is now minimal and we are a country far away. Although we are still the elephant in the room, he is pushing toward that which is on his border, (Eastern Europe and the Baltic area).

Again this is just mt ancient opinion and quite possibly outdated.

I said the same thing to my wife a few days ago.

While Putin and Trump would never be buddies, I firmly believe that they respected one another. With Trump we had a President. Now, all we have is comedy relief. And it ain't the kind of comedy you want to laugh at.

I think we need to keep an eye on the comments and rhetoric that Putin is putting out there. It might be a signal of sorts. Anyone read this book? THIS IS HOW THEY TELL ME THE WORLD ENDS by Nicole Perlroth

I just started it, and it's seriously chilling! This is one review of the book from Amazon:

This is an eye-opening book that contains so much data that will likely be new information to most readers. For example, many Americans might have heard of various exploits of Russian hackers, but I don't think most are aware of the damage that these hackers did in Ukraine. To hear about how comprehensive and dangerous the attacks on the Ukrainian systems have been is pretty frightening; considering that the US has much more infrastructure that is remotely accessible or somehow connected to the internet. There is clearly the potential for far more severe attacks, and hearing about the concerns of those in the intelligence and security communities is at least a little disturbing.

Reading this book was frightening, but very informative and interesting at the same time. Hearing stories from the front lines of this global cyberwar might make me a little more paranoid; but I'm glad I'm at least a bit more knowledgeable about the potential risks, and current capabilities in this new frontier of digital dangers.

Putin Asks Reporter If US 'Assassinated' Ashli Babbitt

I like Putin and actually trust him more than our oligarchs. I don't see Russia running around starting wars and fomenting the overthrow of governments. However, assassination is premeditated. In her case I think a cop panicked and she was in the line of fire. Assassination, no. Negligence or gross negligence or manslaughter, yes.

Remember President Putin knows the people behind the scenes well. I don't believe he is afraid of them either.
He has fought against them his entire life and FOR his Nation of Russia.
He has stated that he Trusts in God and he acts like a Man of Faith, just as well as President Trump did.
Remember David was far from everyone's choice...
God has His Say.

And yes the bear do get hungry.
However right now...

They just murdered her, they didn't assassinate her.

Everything was too hinkey with how she passed. I think she was a high level operative double or triple agent and they wanted her taken out. I have zero to prove this it is just the manner on things indicates that there was much more at play than we are being led to believe and the manner in which things are unfolding I think we may find out the truth soon enough...

I am really tired of hearing everyone say that Russia hacked the US. I don't know. How do they ? What proof has been submitted that Russia did it? How do we know that China did not do it ? How do we know that elements in the US govt did not do it ?

I can see where China, or elements in the US govt would have had more motive !
