Picked up a Home Run Inn, a DiGiorno and a Red Baron. I’m doing the Home Run Inn one now (after adding stuff of course.)

Will try the other two over the course of the next week.

People west of the Mississippi don't know what a good pizza taste like .

Hey! I know what a good pizza west of the Mississippi tastes like!

I just don't know what a good pizza east of the Mississippi tastes like :D

But if you want a terrible pizza, go to Canada, I swear they can fk up a pizza like no one else!

Dennis,
Will the Pizza Review be forthcoming? and what is this week's pizza challenge?

I also bought a Home Run Inn (sausage & pepperoni) this past weekend. I must say, that I was pleasantly surprised. The crust was very good...crispy and not squishy like deep dish pizzas.

The sauce was good too, just the right spices...plenty of sausage and pepperoni.

Over all, I think this is my new favorite frozen, thin crust pizza. The price was right too at $6.00

With Kind Regards on this lovely Thursday,

Jack's frozen thin crust pizza is our favorite. I always thought frozen pizza tasted like cardboard, but DH turned me on to Jacks. We eat it about once a week and generally extra cheese and other things to it. We have an electric pizza cooker, and a back up. If it tastes like cardboard then I guess I've gotten use to it. It's about 2.50 a pizza.

God is good all the time

For me DiGiorno beats Red Baron hands down! Red Baron is for when you have a bunch of teens and younger kids over, they will eat anything. Never heard of Home Run Inn pizza!

Then you haven't tried a pizza in TJ Mexico. They have no idea what pizza really is. It is like they saw a picture and decided to open a business making them with no experience and sourced everything in Mexico........ goat cheese and not good goat cheese...... the meats are suspect also..... crust is the worst.....

I have never had a good grocery store pizza, EXCEPT for newman's own. Don't know the particular name but it had white cheese and black olives on it...

Never been in MX, love the food, love the old culture, love the people of old Mexico, but it's a failed state and I've no desire to go to the new Mexico.

I’m a weird one. I much prefer the cheap Red Baron over DiGiorno or Freschetta. A cheap Red Baron is my go to for frozen pizza.

You must be a Totino’s $1.50 Party Pizza girl then? :D

When the kids were growing up we always had a supply in the freezer. My favorite was their taco pizza. I could mow through one all by myself. They were like crack.

I’ve never tried one. I will be adding to my list because now I’m just curious. Lol

As Lei said Boboli is on Amazon if you want to minimize travel, delivered to the door

Amazon.com : boboli bread

I used to roll a homemade pizza out on Saturday nights so was four pizzas a month ( we were too rural for delivery in the 90's). A block of Mozza divided into 4 chunks frozen, 4 jiffy crust mixes and 4 cans of Pastorelli sauce for 4 weekends.

Then started making my own pizza sauce while canning (like cooking down apple butter to thicken), Have since discovered Dei Fratelli pizza sauce out of Ohio and its better than my home canned. Would rather use jars for salsa or preserves.

I make all my own pizza unless going out to eat thin crust, its just cheaper, fresher with Bel Gioso mozza from Green Bay and then add toppings in season, fresh basil or cherry tomatoes on top.

Home Run Inn is good, like D'Agostino's there just west of Wrigley Field, hence its name derivation IIRC. That's what I call 'bar or tavern pizza', a thin cracker crust and nice browned bubble to the cheese with a tart, spiced sauce. I always roll mine out in a rectangle, also called bakery sheet or Nonna style pizza.

Boboli is nice as it keeps well in freezer if you crave heavier deep dish, esp in winter for heartier fare

these ultra thin at Dollar Tree are not bad in a pinch, super thin, stack and freeze well.

Even if you find a good frozen one, if you run out try this easy pizza dough recipe.
Mix it up, ignore it for the afternoon, then use it. It stretches pretty well when its ready to go. I sort of smoosh it flat on a cookie sheet then transfer it to a pan with holes in it once its nearly where it should be and finish the stretching there.

Half the recipe makes one large pizza.

I find that its better for me to bake the crust for 15 min ahead of time, then put on the toppings and bake another 15 min at 450. I don't use a stone because I'm too clumsy to deal with a pizza peel lol. I use a pan with holes in it.

Midtown result: not bad. Crust is a bit thin (i.e. crunchy.) Flavor is good (not great.) I added Italian cheese blend, mushrooms, olives, and my standard seasonings. It’s a somewhat smaller, “lighter” pie than all but the RB I tried last week. It’s much better than the RB pizza.

I have never heard of Home Run Inn, is is national or regional? Could be I just haven't noticed it as I rarely buy frozen pizzas too.

Appears to be a national brand.

From a previous post upthread:

Note that there are two types of crust: regular and thin. I sampled the regular.

Got my first order of Brew Pub Pizza. Only tried the Breakfast Pizza so far, it is awesome. I bought a lot of the 9 inch different versions to fit in my small freezer. Tad expensive, but very tasty as a treat should be.... :kaid:

We have a favorite local Italian Deli and yesterday we picked up their custom homemade Pepperoni and Salami, their pizza sauce, chopped olives, several shredded cheeses and artichoke hearts and their pre-made crust. OMG YUM-YUM!!! However I think on the next effort we'll make our own pizza dough.

I realize that a boxed store bought pizza is easy to start with and then add your own additions. But it's never going to be better than what you can make on your own.

Easy No-Knead Pizza Dough

What I would suggest is to make your own at home. So today we picked up supplies for our next homemade pizza. Pilsbury makes a refrigerated pizza dough crust, like their pre-made refrigerated biscuit dough.

Also Bob's Redmill makes a Gluten Free Pizza Crust flour that you can throw into your bread machine.

I will let you know how these two crust choices work out.

I do like my Ledo Pizza, yes you have to go there and pick it up. The best Ledo Pizza was in my home town of Adelphi, Md. they actually cooked it in a Pizza Oven back in the 50's thru the 2016's before the mexicants ran them out of business. They have a bunch of chains run by the sons that are chain driven ovens like you see today. The Pizza is still good if you order well done, but you can never ever beat a real Well Seasoned Pizza Oven, There crust is a pastry crust with sauce and provolone cheese is out of this world, I know this is a frozen pizza thread, but a well frozen ledo pizza is the bomb....

The Home Run Inn is definitely the best. DiGiorno is okay, and Red Baron is simply “meh.”

Home Run Inn is going to be in my freezer from now on.
For all the faults, Chicago has the best Pizza. I think I will take a run to one of the Original "Home Run Inn" pizza in the Chicago Western Burbs.

Thanks for the thought.
