WTF?!? Now that was weird!

So.....early this morning a little past 0400 there is this TOTALLY weird sound outside. We sleep with a window cracked for fresh air and our bedroom is on the second floor....."SOMETHING" was outside, slowly moving around out in the front of our place. OK...here's the weird thing....the sound. It was NOT an animal. I've heard a lot of animal and ambient sounds at night out in the forest, city, suburbs, jungle, desert, middle of the ocean, etc., etc., etc. and never heard anything like this.

To me is sounded like a kind of electronic "fuzz" with voice like modulation, just barely audible and slowly moving from right to left in front of our cabin. My DW thought it sounded like some form of water going down a drain, but....not water going down a drain.....? It wasn't like anything either of us have ever heard before. The closest thing to something I've heard before was like the electric buzz around high tension power lines when you have a heavy heavy fog....however, we didn't have either of those in our area, no high tension power lines in our immediate area, nor was there any fog last night or this morning. The air is actually pretty dry at the moment as we have Santa Ana Winds coming out of the desert......usually dry & hot.

We live on the lee side a mountain ridge at approximately 5,600 feet surrounded by National Forest in Southern California. We have all the usual wild critters you'd expect here. We've seen Bobcat's, Coyote's, Fox, Raccoon's, Coyo-dogs/wolf and our neighbors have seen Mountain Lion and Bear in our immediate area as well as a fair amount of birds....this was none of those possibilities.

It lasted for over five minutes, maybe ten and then as I crept around to different windows to look out to see if I could locate the source, the noise just suddenly faded away. Didn't see anything with nigh vision. TOTALLY WEIRD!! :shr: Oh...and none of our motion lights were activated?!?

Perhaps.....little green men?

And since most motion sensors are aimed at ground level, it would not set them off.

Would a drone even set off an IR "motion detector"? A microwave based detector?
Some of them are designed to filter out smaller animals like a house cat. I dunno!


You can get quiet(er) propellers for drones too.

A drone flying around at four o'clock in the morning?!? Hmmmmm possible, but I think flying around a forest covered hillside in the dark would be a bit of a challenge. Hmmmmm......could be. Very weird.

No reason to think it would set off IR. Dunno re microwave.

Sure sounds like it was a drone. Presumably it has night vision if it was flying around in the dark. So when you crack the window do you also open the blinds? Who is looking in on you at that hour?

From your area description, I'd first think about someone researching nocturnal animals, who just for fun took a look at your place.

I wasn't thinking it was anything sinister, but maybe something like a neighbor with a new toy, who wouldn't really mean to spy but wanted to work with someplace familiar to be sure he was operating it correctly at a distance. And who wouldn't want it to look like a possibilty for future spying, no matter what his intentions might be.

Park & Forest Rangers are now using Drones to check out campers and car campers.

Same thing along the coast south of Bir Sur. Friend told me a couple years ago he was pulled over to sleep in his car. He had driven a mile or two up a mostly dirt road. Awoken by a weird buzzing sound. Couldn't tell where it was until he saw a couple flashing lights on the drone. Park Rangers and Sheriff Deputies checking out people at 2 or 3 am. He took off kinda unnerved by the survellience. Later he noticed the Law Enforcement vehicles coming down to connect to Hwy 1.

OMG! Your motion lights not activated? Alien snooping around? They can shut down things AND they like to hide in large forests. I've heard of that. And they like to come around when people are sleeping. Don't know a solution as they can't be stopped. Creeping me out now.

Check surroundings for sign. Animal tracks, scat, or disrupted garbage cans, and such.

I'd seriously check for samples of shrubs, bark off trees, turf, etc bring gathered too.

I had a "crazy" old great aunt,who lived on the very sparsely populated prairie, show me clean, long, deep strips of trees taken by "those visitors". I asked her if she's scared of them, as she said they'd come and went all her life there on her homestead. Nope. Not scared at all. I don't bother them, and they don't bother me., she said.

Could be a drone but why at 4 am? Generally speaking, there isn't much going on at that time of the morning. Even is someone wanted to do a littl peeping tom work, all they're going to see is you sleeping and maybe a nocturnal trip to the can.

Bear peels, they strip the bark in long peels up the tree and scrape the cadmium layer. Trees store starches and sugars in the winter during hibernation and bears get it in the early spring.

After it warms up the trees pull it back up and start new growth.

Im fairly certain the only bears in Kansas are in the zoos, on wall mounts, or sitting in State Highway Patrol cars.

This is in limestone prairie country in Ks. Kansa indian lore of the area backed her experiences up fairly well. Who knows?

As suggested by others, above - cartel drone surveillance for the purposes of learning about your property, with regards to illegal activities of drug and/or human trafficking - that the cartel perps may wish conduct in your AO.

Or, could be the FedGov looking for signs of cartel activities in your area.

Is your property located near to any known cartel drug/human trafficking areas, or drug-grow areas?

What about a wood thrush singing---I always thought they had a mechanical sound--- beautiful, but mechanical or even electronic sounding.
But I re-read your post and now realize you don't live in the right area ( deciduous woodlands).... sorry!

there was a wild bear running around in Western Kansas one time. It was a young male and the experts figured he got lost looking for new territory. He eventually disappeared but there were plenty of pictures taken of him.

I understand that the movement of the sound was from right to left here.

Just a note on motion detectors. Many of the motion detectors only detect
lateral movement, not movement directly towards or away from the detector.

For movement directly towards or away from the unit, an advanced motion
sensor technology is required, like doppler radar.

That would be disturbing to me too. It is odd at 4am in a remote region. That tells me they are looking for someone/something. It could also be a kid at heart with a new toy that likes to play more extreme, like at night.

As some posters have stated, I am going with the .gov operating the drone. Looking for drugs or whatever, maybe training. I've heard that various agencies are using drones more to patrol larger areas. On the other end, a person could be missing and the drone is part of a search. If you are near a national forest, it is technically their land. I think it would be a great place for training.

If you are concerned that it might be cartel or some bad guys, make a report with the sheriff, forest service, or whoever is in your area. It might help them and you would have something on paper

No animal signs that I noticed this morning. I have a game camera covering the creek behind our place. I'll check that. The creek is seasonal and the bed is a traffic avenue for critters. I'm sure the sound wasn't a thrush or other bird, especially at four in the morning. We've been here over a year and a half and know most of the native game and bird sounds and it was quiet except for that weird sound that woke us up. I know we have deer here on the mountain but haven't seen them in our immediate area. Not enough forage for them yet in the season.

No cartel / drug / human trafficking / or growing going on in our immediate area...and remember it's California so growing up to 6 cannabis plants for home consumption :groucho: is totally legal. I don't know anyone that does. Most of our neighbors are our age and retired. It's mostly full timers living here on the mountain and then the vacation homes. A little early for summer vacationers. Just nothing really happening in our area. Very boring.

We like boring.

Or not. We had tons of drones, flying in formation, out on the eastern plains last spring/winter of 19. Lots of calls to law enforcement. Never any answers, except to not believe our lying eyes.

ShadowMan, I just had to knee scooter into the office and post when I read your thread.

I have to think that the 'Veil' is thinning more.

My sister this last weekend messaged me about the Vardøger activity taking place at her house down in Fort Worth, and I told her that I was having the same thing happening this last weekend.

And then, last night as I lay on the downstairs couch (since I've had foot surgery and that's where I will sleep for the next 8 weeks),as I lay on the couch giving myself Reiki treatments on my foot and other parts of the body, I started hearing what sounded like a radio playing out on the back patio.

I thought my husband had left the speakers on with his Radio Margaritaville station on but I just could not pinpoint what songs etc.

So I knee scootered with great effort to the sliding glass door and checked outside, no neighbor had left their radio going outside, I then checked the garage to see if he'd left it on there. Nope.

I couldn't pinpoint the sound from anywhere.

It went on for over an hour at least.

It was just 'there'.

So I laid down again to resume doing Reiki and was also thinking with great intent how I had wished I had known that Mrs. Hawayo Takata who had brought Reiki to Hawaii from Japan and was third in line as Reiki Master, was living and teaching in Kapa'a Kauai back in the 70's because if I had known, I would have flown over there and had her personally teach me.

I was a very young teen and used to being on my own and homeless, due to being thrown out all the time by my mother, by no fault of my own.

And I had also learned to save (and hide) my money from working since I was 11 and living out of a small bag.

So if I'd have known about her back then, I would have just got on a plane and then lived on the beach while learning Reiki from the Master.

These were things I was intently thinking about and doing my Reiki treatment on my leg and foot.

I was also thinking about how I have this great compelling urgency to make it to the level of Reiki Master by this Fall.

It has to be this Fall and no later.

My hands by that time were very hot and tingling and I could feel the heat and tingling go down my leg to my foot.

All of the sudden, I heard very loudly, like right by my ear in a really tin-ie sound, more like a robot tin sound and then a woman's voice with a distinct Hawaiian accent I well know as I have a home in Kapa'a, Kauai, it was like she was trying to talk through a tube, or through 'time and space'.

And she said quite clearly and with compassion in her voice, "I will teach you", and I had a very clear image of her but as a younger woman.

So with all that said, I think that the 'Veil' is thinning and you may have experienced the sound coming from 'Over There'.

That sort of thing or a 'Portal' opened up outside your house'?

They Will open up, when and where it wills. V
