Yesterday I used a $5 coupon that Ace Hardware sent me for my birthday and bought a case of the half gallon size canning jars. Helped bring the price down a bit.
Today I stopped by Winn Dixie and bought some sugar at a BOGO, and I had coupons! Also got 3 containers of the land o'lakes butter in a tub at a great price. We didn't need anything else.
Gas finally dropped 10 cents a gallon and I filled up at $2.82 a gallon.

When we were out in town, yesterday, we noticed that gas prices were still the same as last week, or it had dropped a few cents. My car was still full, so I didn't need a fill up.
Eye exams, yesterday, went ok, I guess. Doctor cut me back on my HCQ to half a dose a day. 200mg instead of the 400mg I've been taking daily. The Macular Degeneration is still only mild with no change from last year. I ordered new glasses. I didn't get the style I wanted, but I settled on what I could afford. When Cary retired, I lost my vision insurance coverage. I should be getting them around April 10th. No Scleritis, yesterday, so I didn't need another script for steroids.
It has turned cold on us. Today's high only in the low 50's with a hard freeze warning tonight, and tomorrow night! There goes my apples and peaches. No rain for the next several days, so we should be able to dry out some.
If all goes as planned, I'll finally be able to get to the grocery store tomorrow for some much needed pantry restocking. We've been eating only out of the pantry, since right before Cary had surgery, without being able to go grocery shopping. Some holes are beginning to develop. I also plan to buy the new shrubs for the new landscaping we plan to do, once Cary is able.

No, I've never checked them out. Thanks for the link. Zenni did have the exact style I wanted, but mine are already ordered, and paid for. Oh well.
I'm riding herd on one grandson and the grand-dog today; waiting for a call to go pick up the other grandson, who was at a sleepover. I still have some Easter Basket shopping to do - they are getting active toys to burn off some of their energy. I haven't managed to find any swim trunks that suit me, nor a toy for the dog, so that will have to wait. Older grandson is easy to shop for - he's getting a gift certificate to the local firearm emporium.
My order from Daisy Farms for strawberry and raspberry plants came in, but it was short 5 raspberry plants. I called to report the discrepancy, but haven't heard back yet - not too worried about it as they are good people to deal with. I'm going to have to mud in the raspberries anyway - no way I can get the tiller anywhere near the garden yet.
I'm getting garden fever pretty bad - but it's supposed to get down to 23*F tonight and 34*F tomorrow night, so maybe that will cool the fever down a bit

fortunately for me (although I didn't think so at the time) I had cataract surgery a couple of years or so ago and all I need are readers. Since I'm use to wearing glasses and I kinda feel naked without them, I wear bifocal readers. I bought a nice selection from ebay after my surgery. I have several different colors in a style I like, but I usually wear red, which is my favorite color anyway.
I also get the bifocal readers in sunglasses and safety glasses. All my glasses averaged about $12 a piece.

I'm behind the curve right now. I've increased my cardio (walking) and added more (but shorter) training with light weights. The goal is to further build up core strength and get my arms and back in better shape for paddling my kayak, but I'm having to sleep a little more. I'm going to add a little more red meat back into my diet and see if that helps. I've mostly been eating fish and pork because it's more affordable.
Overall, getting my body back into better shape is a prep, no matter what. I know I'm not going to be Ms. America or compete on American Ninja Warrior at my age, but I can do better. I would like to be able to hike several miles (flat trail), ride my bike 8-10 miles on a somewhat flat trail, and paddle my kayak across and back over the shortest part of the lake (not far from shore), all in one day without dying for the rest of the week. I think that's reasonable for me to work toward. No time limits will be involved. I will rest whenever it's necessary.

I am with you Meermur. As I have aged my upper body strength has just ebbed away. I started walking with weights several months ago anticipating lots of gardening. Hard work! Good news is that I am gaining some strength back! Used the weedeater this week with minimal soreness and ability to finish. Planted 300 feet of seed potatoes several weeks ago and my legs survived. Feeling better about myself! Ummm no Ninja Warrior here either but I can still run pretty fast!

I wish I only needed reading glasses, but I have to wear mine all the time. I can't wear contacts, because my eyes are too dry. All of my jewelry is gold, hair is auburn brown, and I wear mostly neutral or earth tone colors, and I wanted gold frames to match. I got the gold frames, but they aren't the style I wanted. I just hope these new ones don't make me look too much like an old granny. I'm 62 almost, but I feel a lot younger. They'll have to do. Cary likes them, so I guess that's all that matters.
I could have shopped around more, but I just wanted to get back home. It was so cold, raining, and windy, and I was sooo tired.

I always had trouble picking out frames. I wore rimless frames for awhile, but the people that make the glasses had trouble with no rim with my prescription, so I had to go back to rims. I mean if you can't see well how in the world can you see how frames look. For now though I don't have that problem.

Exactly! Cary took a photo of me with the new glasses on with his phone. That way I could see how I looked in them. Still think I look like a granny! LOL!

Me, too! Before I moved, I'd go to an eyeglass shop with a fashionable friend and have her help me pick out several
different frames. Then I would try to order those from Zenni or find something similar for a cheaper price. I sure don't
want to pay $200+ for frames!

Thanks! This is encouraging. It seems like it's taking so long to see some progress, but I haven't been keeping good records, either. I used to do "strength tests" once a month, like seeing how far I walked in 15 minutes (without killing myself). I need to get back to that. Then I have actual numbers about what I can do vs. what I think I can do.

I didn't want to pay that much for the frames, either, especially since I no longer have vision insurance coverage for all my glasses. Our soon to be ex-DIL was sporting a new pair that cost our DS $600 when she showed up at my sister's funeral service. I can't afford that for a pair of glasses that might last me two years. Not now.

When younger both my wife and I wore glasses. Then we each got Lasik eye surgery. It was wonderful. I still wear no glasses (except for reading) but my wife is again wearing glasses due to eye problems.
Our oldest son also got Lasik done so he now wears no glasses either. Youngest son does wear glasses even though we told him that we would pay for him to get Lasik. He is just stubborn(I think he gets it from his mother
).

Ultra liberal SIL said that and I told her she needed to know the secret passwords. She listened very attentively as I told her she'd need to come up to the gate and shout out: "We brought our own food and ammo!". I swear if looks could kill, I'd be pushing up daisies.
Oh and tell her to bring her own tent because there's no room in the house for her and her kin.

Do you have a cache outside of your home? My bet is they'd sell you out for "hoarding" in a New York second, especially if it was to their advantage no matter how fleeting.

I get my glasses through the VA, as I am a service connected veteran, but usually their free frames are horrible and they break easily. So I have paid for better frames in the past.

For anyone who really NEEDS their eyeglassesto function, I'd strongly suggest getting a spare pair from Zenni. I'm terribly nearsighted. I'd be in real trouble if my glasses were broken or misplaced. I've purchased single vision readers (I have severe astigmatism: the dollar store readers are useless for me), single vision distance and bifocals from Zenni... even the "flex hinge" titanium frames, high index lenses and top antiscratch coatings end up being under a hundred bucks... local equivalent pair would be $800.
I also bought prescription sunglasses for driving...just a generic frame without all the fancy add-ons.. I think they cost me $27, which is about what a good, nonprescription pair would cost here. I keep them in the truck in a case, and they've held up well.

Since I kept my prescription for my glasses, Cary says it's ok with him if I order a second (back up ) pair from Zinni, plus a pair of prescription sunglasses. I'll use the nice pair I found at Zinni for my regular use, and use the ones I have ordered for back up. I think I'm getting a bargain, and will be more pleased with the outcome.

I've been getting my glasses from Zenni for 12-15 years now, and have been very happy with them for the most part. The only quibble I have had with them is that the frames never look quite like what I thought they were going to look like from the pictures on their site. But, I can't see them when they are on my face, so I guess as long as I can see, it's all good. Nobody beats their prices, though.

That's the only concern I have. How they look on my face. Will they be too big, too small, or make me look ridiculous? It's the same reason I try on all my clothes, before buying them. Unless I've used a company before, and know what my size is when ordering from them, I never order clothing online, especially shoes.
I'm not ordering from Zinni, until the ones I have already ordered come in. Who knows? I may like them ok. I still want to order some prescription sunglasses from them, though. A back up pair is always an option, too.
One thing I found to be helpful is to measure your current frames (in millimeters)... all Zenni's frames have their dimensions clearly marked on the site... you want to compare both the total width of the frames, as well as the height and width of the lenses... you can then get a better idea of the actual size of the ones you want to order.

I've always had a difficult foot to fit, need a wide width. And I never bought a shoe that needed to be broken in, that is later in life. Earlier on there was no choice. However, for the last several years I've had consistent luck with buying particular brands. My new shoes came last night and I just tried one on and they will be fine. Although I was a little concerned after reading the reviews, I went up a half size and its a good thing I did. So I buy vionic in flip flops and lace ups and sloggers in rubber boots and have had no problem ordering them on line.

Busy week this week. Finished the maple syrup. Best year ever. Still need to get all that stuff cleaned. Got our oil delivery. Got 20 yds of wood chips delivered so we have started mulching. I think our other pair of rabbits finally had a successful mating. We will know in a couple weeks. Starting a bunch of stuff for the garden. Ordered a number of woodland shrubs for more permaculture additions. Siberian Pea shrub, bayberry and highbush cranberry. I am also going to try some American chestnut and more hazelnuts. Unfortunately my logger ran over my big hazelnut. My plan is to take the area he is clearing the hardest and run rows of shrubs in there. And then let them go and do what they do. Low maintenance food for us and for the animals. We got willow bushes on order for the rabbits. Talked to a buddy of mine and he is going to come reclaim the small hayfield I have in back. Get that cleaned up and replanted so I can have hay for the rabbits. Most important is my parents are coming. Havent seen them in almost a year due to the VID. My sister got diagnosed with breast cancer so they isolated to help her family with the kids while she went thru treatments. Good news is she is doing great. Her immune system is back and they are coming.

I ordered some honeyberry bushes, more grape vines for wine, and more hops plants. We found pasta on sale at Kroger and stocked up on that, along with Ragu spaghetti sauce. Tuna was on sale , so we grabbed some of that too. I added more laundry detergent and dish soap to the pantry this week too.

We just got back from doing our much needed shopping run. We stopped in at TSC for dog and cat food, plus their treats. They had begun to put out their Carhartt brand of women's v-neck short sleeve tee's. On sale at 3 for $20. I got 3 in different colors. That was a steal! They still didn't have their azaleas in yet, but said they would be arriving in another week. I was hoping to get those today, too. I need 5 to replace the ornamental shrubs that have died along my front porch.
Went to Food Giant for groceries. They had a huge sale going, and I managed to refill all the holes in my pantry. Both freezers are also full. All of the over flow that I couldn't get in the pantry room, I stacked in our bedroom. I've got a pretty good stash going in there, too. When you have a small house, you have to do what you have to do.
Cary has to see his surgeon Monday for a CT scan on his kidney to make sure it's healing well. While in the big town, we want to stop at LOWE's for a few garden plants for my large flower pots on the back deck and two small raised beds we still have. Tomatoes, bell peppers, and yellow squash. I also would like to have a few pots of hanging ferns and some bedding flowers, too, but will have to see what the cost will be. All of my hostas survived the snow/ice storm we had, and I'm so thankful I don't have to replace all of those. I think I lost some of my lilies, though. They are showing no signs of coming up, yet.
Our weather is turning warm and dry for the next several days. I plan to start on all the yard work that needs to be done. My solar system kit got here and went got a YUGE marine battery, its all I could find. Waiting to hook it up a few days till it warms a bit. Excited!
Got the Easter stuff and dinner. I take the boys with me when I do shopping. No masks. We hit the library first. The boys are a great help. They know how to scan the groceries, bag them, pay with debit card, then put bags in cart. Not bad for 7 and 8. They are learning price comparisons, etc. All kinds of learning takes place in the grocery store.
We are going to Good Friday service tonight, our pastor is doing the service.
Boys are reading like crazy and librarian gave them grab bag treats. They always say Thank you, Have a nice day, See you soon...heheheh good boys
I'm cooking spiral ham, taters, some vegs, rolls, daughter has few things she is making.
Yes we will do an egg hunt too, just for fun.
Will report on solar when it gets running. Daughter is having much issues with camper heat. She is looking at either an upgrade on a better camper, or a shed conversion. I am personally a fan of rainwater, compost potty, solar. No plumbing, wiring, etc. except small bit for solar. Propane is good too. Have not decided how to how upgrade heat yet but have the warm months ahead. Geesh. Went to Lowes to check out plywood for cabin walls. Expensive! They have a type of brown board (they call it) that is thin, but might work. Its 10$ a 4x8 sheet and can be cut to fit.

Really rough day today - started when the dog stole my breakfast and just kinda went downhill from there until about noon when mom called me to tell me she'd had her first vaccine (pfizer) - I'm not pleased. Got slightly better when I stocked up in town at the local grocery, and now Easter dinner is in the oven (having tonight as I work the weekend).
I just am really feeling like I did last year about this time - depressed, overwhelmed, angry, confused. Not sure if it's the meds (prednisone, although I've tolerated higher doses OK), or the anniversary, or just all the other crap I read every day. If I'm off of here for a while, don't worry. DH reads here, and I may just need a break.

Maybe an inexpensive carport would keep the sun off the camper so it would stay cooler.

I actually did that after the first frames I got weren't the size I thought they were going to be, and I still got glasses that have smaller lenses than I intended to get. I could have sent them back, I suppose, but I've gotten used to them. I will need to order new glasses soon and plan to order some that are larger than I really want in the hopes of getting the size I want, LOL! (And they'll probably send exactly what I order this time!)

Its still cold here so issue is furnace has stopped running. We did all we know to do, its not awful cold like it was so I gave her space heater. She has electric blanket, heat pads, etc.
They are looking at upgrading to something else.
She and the boys went with me to Good Friday service. Love our Pastor
