It's still too wet to do anything in the ground here. Cary did manage to get those railroad ties the propane man ran over fixed and replaced. Looks nice again. He also plans to get out the weed eater today, and do some much needed weed eating around and about. Thankfully, the grass doesn't need mowing. It's still a bit early for that. We could still get a late frost.

We spent all day, yesterday, at the Cardiac Clinic getting all of Cary's heart tests done. We won't know the results, until Monday. The testing was more extensive than we thought they were going to be. Took the whole day, since he had another doctor appt, beforehand. They are supposed to call with those results. He also has to go to the hospital for his pre-op tests, Monday.

I'm spending the whole weekend trying to get everything ready and organized.

I bought an electric bike a week or two ago. My wife wanted to try and see if she could ride. So the bike I got was a women's bike (I don't care which I ride). We both knew my wife has balance issues, so yesterday I made some outriggers for the bike and she was able to use it. She rode maybe three miles. She wants to try it some more before she decides whether we should buy another so we both have one.
Note: I was on my regular bike and I could not keep up with her!
Just trying to use up Dollars before they become worthless.

DH bought the thing that can make a regular bike electric, actually he bought three of them. He is yet to find a bike though.

DH has also told me to quit stocking food. Of course I won't, but I'll have to be more covert about it. Although gone are the days of huge buying trips because I only need to replace what we use.

Since we only shop twice a month, replacing what I use out of my pantry turns out to be a big run. I always add extras if on sale, or I see a new item I want to try just for variety. Cary doesn't mind. He's as much into food storage as I am. I can see, though, where he would begin to frown if our food storage becomes impractical. I only have so much room, before food storage becomes a hindrance to our quality of living space.

Since we only eat two meals a day, we just don't go through that much food. First meal is usually eggs, we get an average of 18-20 eggs a day (and now he hatching out more chickens) and second meal is what ever I can figure out something he might eat. The first meal is around noon, we don't eat breakfast the first thing in the morning. Personally I don't think its necessary to eat first thing, but that's just me. I think all that crap about breakfast is the most important meal a day comes from the breakfast food industry. Probably the same folks that condemned eggs years ago.

The other night I fixed fish sticks and french fries, he complained. So the next night he had summer sausage with cheese and crackers that he had to slice himself (oh the horror of it). maybe he will learn to eat what I offer and shut up but I doubt it. he is so good in so many ways that I really do let him slide on other things.

Yesterday I put a turkey breast in the crock pot (it came from commodities) and he said he would only eat it if I made turkey salad. I told him it would be sliced turkey with gravy on it. He said okay. I'm thinking mashed potatoes and green peas to go with it. He likes green peas, I do not. Awhile back I gave away quite a few cans of green peas, I had forgotten he like them, so I had to buy more. The person that I gave them to, along with a lot of other food, complained that she didn't want any more green peas. I don't share food with her anymore. She complains that she has no food in the house, oh well. She also didn't want any more dried beans.

I don't have a regular shopping schedule. Mostly its every once in a while.

There are only a very few foods that I put on the table that Cary refuses to eat. I only buy, in quantity, those foods that we both like. He never complains. If I want food that only I will eat, I buy that occasionally to add a bit of variety to my diet. He likes certain types of cheeses from Germany. I can't stand the stuff. He buys those for himself as a treat from time to time. I guess you could say that we have worked things out.

I don't share our food with anyone. Those that I might share with are already preppers, and don't need it. I don't want anyone thinking that I have so much food in the house, that I have plenty to give away. It's an OPSEC thing for me. If we got commodities, I might consider sharing with others. I could always give an excuse that we don't like a certain thing, and they are welcome to it.

We only eat two meals a day, too. Late morning brunch and supper. We just snack for lunch.

I only share food we get in commodities so no one really knows I have an exploding pantry.

I have a friend’s hubby who raises beef cattle. He posted on fb to see if there was interest in ordering a quarter, half, or full cow. I messaged him about it, and we’ve now ordered 1/4 cow. It will be $600 for approximately 210 pounds of beef (steaks, roasts, and the rest ground). We are debating getting 1/2 cow but have zero idea of how much freezer space 1/4 will take. Any ideas?

So this was an unexpected prep item that came up this week. Excited though!

Maybe this will help.

I’m jealous of that beef! I couldn’t get any last year (what I did see was so $$$!!)

I think I was late to that party but at least we got the half hog.
