FOOD Those with air fryers-

My oven went out again. The guy who fixed it in December was an asshole. He put in a new igniter and then like a week later it went out again. Of course when he came back out it worked perfectly. He was angry that I wasted his time and said I don't know what I am doing. Seriously?

Skip forward to this week and it's out again. I don't want anyone in my house right now. Landlord called the repair guy anyway and they got into it because he blamed me again. I mean there's only one way to turn an oven on and off....

Anyway, I ordered an air fryer to help in the short term. I have all the stuff to make pizza with homemade crust but nothing to cook it in. Have you ever made pizza in the air fryer? Any other good recipes? I'm upset because I was baking some good stuff while home. I really wanted to order the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Oven but over $200 is not in my bidget.

Had one, YS tried it, we hated it, gave it to my brother. YS tried to do battered fish in it - came out like covered in concrete. Not impressed, but that's JMO. Other's may have better luck than I did.

Don't think Pizza will work as it's waaaay to small to even put a small one in.

How about a small toaster oven?

my oven has been not working right for the past 4 years, Ive been using a delonghi multifry cooker. Every time I think I’ll get a new oven I think why even bother the multi cooker can do it and not heat up the whole house. I love this thing and I can do pizza in it but the only ones I found that fit are the small digorno natural ones (Garden vegetables is my favorite one)

I would totally lose it if my oven quit working! Had that happen in my old Amana - not fixable, so I bent over and bought a new one.

We use it just way too much to be without. Especially now when I'm baking lotsa stuff to keep the teenager happy and in snacky stuff plus food and bread.

I LOVE my Cuisinart. You can make anything in there, just check your setting. You can reheat everything even on the fry setting in just a few minutes including a toasty pizza. Don't be afraid of it...you'll be so glad you did!

That's what I am struggling with right now. I love baking and have made banana muffins, chocolate chip cookies, and bread in the last couple weeks. I can use my bread machine of course but it doesn't taste the same.

To keep from heating up the whole kitchen, we use what used to be called a toaster oven. It's a small electric oven that sets on your cabinet. You can get them from $25-30 all the way up to several hundred. You just have to get one wide and deep enough to cook what you plan on cooking most.

I also get crunchy French fries, onion rings, etc. from it using the same rack spraying oil thing.

Ours has an air fry setting. It works ok, but I use a lot of sprayed on vegetable oil (spray bottle, normal oil) on it as it cooks and things like fish I cook on a rack and pan to give it air space off the bottom of the pan. It's also big enough to make a pot roast for just the two of us. For that you have to make sure the one you get fits your pan with its lid on.

We get four years or so out of them then it is time for a new one.

My igniter is finicky. Sometimes it works on the first try other times it takes several tries. I have to be sure and turn it all the way off before trying each time. Try tuning on the broiler and lighting it with a match, safely of course.

The Nuwave is not an air fryer but has served me well. I also have a Power Air Fryer which works well also

We use our air fryer to cook everything...except pizza, can’t help you there. One trick we found out is if you can, put some water in the bottom of the air fryer. It will release a little steam to help keep things from drying out. Not sure how yours is setup, but ours has a small grill/grate in the bottom to put the food on. It leaves about a 1/4” space underneath and we just pour some water in the bottom.

we have one too and love it. So far the only pizza I've done is with pita bread. There are just too many of us to reasonably cook pizza in the air fryer. I'm on a strict low fat diet though and it does great french fries! Ours is one with shelves and even has a rotisserie (never used that).

Just found this thread after the topic of buying an air fryer came up in the $15 minimum wage thread.

I'm looking to buy one but need something that's simple to use and easy to clean. As for our baking needs the oven on our stove died in 2006, it's a 1952 Roper. Anyway, we are currently using an Oster counter top oven. I think it's this one, I love ours it has two racks and I can get a 9x13 inch pan into the oven and our smaller cookie sheet on the rack beneath the top rack. I can bake a small ham or a small turkey in this oven.

which one do you have, I'm on a low fat low sodium diet and miss fried foods.

I have a toaster oven. Works great for what I want it for. Fast cooking, preheats in minutes, and doesn’t heat up the kitchen.

Works great you can cook just about anything in them.

I like the Nuwave and the Power Air Fryer series and Power Pressure Cooker. The Pasta Boat works well too.

If you like the crispy thin pizza crust, you can make pizza on the stovetop with tortillas. Put a little oil in a frying pan and cook the tortilla and add whatever toppings you want.

We have a Presto Pizza Pizzazz, it works great. Got it at Walmart, cost around $55. Makes terrific pizza, etc. I've cooked fish patties and chicken patties on it also, and fries (like oven baked). I don't have an air fryer, but my daughter is giving me hers next week. That doesn't bode well for it.

Do you use Pinterest? If so there are quite a few recipes for Pizza in an air fryer. Haven’t tried it myself, though. Pinterest has tons of air fryer recipes!

Let us know how it goes if you do cook one!

Here's the one I have Annie.
Amazon.com: Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven 7 in 1 with Rotisserie, 10 Qt, EvenCrisp Technology: Home & Kitchen

I've been relatively pleased with it. I think you could do a small personal pizza in it. I think there may even be an instapot airfryer facebook page to ask questions and get answers.

I have pretty much been doing all my cooking in the air fryer oven, the instapot and my crock pots. It's just hubby and me. The only time I have used the regular oven was at Thanksgiving and New Years...whole turkey and a ham. But don't let them fool you. The oven does NOT make good toast! I had to buy a cheap toaster for that.
