GUNS/RLTD Ammunition madness

The ammunition madness continues and grows! (Formerly) cheap, steel-cased, 5.56/.223, Eastern European ammunition is now commonly going for over $1 per round! See the Gunbroker.com auction I attached to this thread. No, I didn't have to cherry pick an example; there are many of them. I have a spare case of the stuff I'm sorely tempted to put up for sale!

Did my usual trip to Academy Sports today and it appears that they are no longer able to get ammo on a regular basis. They now say the Monday shipments are no longer happening, but rather they will be getting it whenever it shows and no one knows when that will be.

Save your ammo folks.....

22LR is up to $0.34 per round.
9MM is up to $ 1.00 per round
223/556 is up to $1.00 per round....

So even though you may now be a millionaire, you might want to hang on to the ammo for a bit longer.

I feel bad for people. I'd try and lighten up if I could use Fb for it. Too unhealthy to ever use up what's there now.

I guess you could look at ammunition as a form of investment.

What would your return on the investment be if you sold that case of 5.56?

I’m not there yet, but it’s kind of nice to know if I needed some cash, I could raise it quickly.

Actually found some "relatively" good prices on 7.62x39 and x51 on Friday at AIM. Glitch in the website so I could not check out. Forgot about it over the weekend. Went back this morning and all sold out.

Speaking of ammo madness, last week Midway had the Caldwell AR mag charger on sale for $40. That price included 5, 50-rd ammo boxes.

Anyone use that? What kind of results do you get?

Not just ammo, any of you looked for reloading dies lately? They are ridiculously priced now. I'm a 10mm,.357 sig guy. Never had dies for them, started looking and wow. Fortunately I continued my search and found both for normal prices. It's insane.

.22 magnum Just spent $250 bucks forf 300 rounds.
But my cousin needed them at any price, so I made 25 bucks for my efforts. Bought out all the studd my supplier had and he couldnt get anymore before march.
I did learn though that at 22 LR and a 22 Mag are different creatures. Never knew tat as I never had a 22 mag.

Midway is outstanding based on a couple of things i have ordered. constant email communication and they send orders out same day and give you a tracking number if it is a weekday. unlike some other places I have dealt with.

on a related note - think i will set up another booth at a small gun show in two weeks. offloading things I bought but no longer need or have duplicates of. Have done it a couple of times before. it is with the $30 dollar table fee.

at least that is a auction, people are bidding what they think it is worth to them, Its not someone gouging by putting a very high price and cheating people, but its still high,

Ive been thru several of these dry spells. first was the klintons assault weapons ban, ammo wasnt as bad but weapons were not available, along with magazines, then when sparklefart got in, another big shortage, I hope that after this settles down, ( it might take awhile until Trump gets his second term)) but every shooter had better buy primers and powder, even if you dont reload,, someone will help you,

also stock ammo, that never gets used for play,

I don't have the Caldwell one, but I have the Maglula, and the MagFeeder from Tactical Development.
Both work very well, and have a slightly different place in my box of tricks.

It's definitely an upgrade from .22 LR in terms of energy.

An interesting point is that the .17 HMR round appears to essentially be a necked-down .22 mag case. My hypothesis about why the .17 HMR is so much more accurate is that it's a reasonably new cartridge and manufactured to a higher tolerance, while .22 mag has been around forever and is probably still being manufactured on older equipment to lower tolerances.

I have no clue whether or not that's actually correct but it's my story and I'm sticking to it. Until I get set to rights LOL

You mean like Palmetto who bills the same minute, prepackages and then actually sends it out in a week or three.....?

Just asking....

Hit a WM yesterday. Nothing. 1 box of 28 gauge shotty. That was it. The only guns looked like kids stuff with crazy color's and weird stocks.
