What doe we do, DH has treated it with motor oil and diesil (I think) and it has gotten worse. He's old school is why he has done it this way. But poor little fellow is losing hair around his neck.

TIA

Ivermectin for the win, just do it.... i aint no vet but i would estimate that the topical preparation many have mentioned would be best...

Thanks all, I think we have Ivermectin and I also ordered some sulfer powder. If we don't have the ivermectin on hand I'll go get some, the sulfer powder will be here on Monday.

This too shall pass.
Use the ivermectin, but also Vicks vaporub is what I've used with success in the past. One of my does had some on her last year and I treated it with Vicks and it worked. And have treated it several times in the past with Vicks.

Old folks always added Sulphur to the oil, works for dogs.

AC Vinegar is a wonderful tool to have for the house.....and so is BORIC ACID

An apple cider vinegar bath can help get rid of the mange mites. Mix 2 cups of apple cider vinegar with ½ cup of boric acid and warm water. Be sure the boric acid powder is fully dissolved before sponging the mixture on your goat's skin and coat.

When the mites are gone, you can spray just the ACV [ no boric acid ] to keep the skin healthy.......and a monthly dusting of diatomaceous earth [ DE ] never hurts either.

He knew about the sulphur but didn't have any, he is giving the goat an ivermectin shot right now.

Thanks,

Back in the day we didn't have ivermectin, i never knew about using it for mange until this thread. That is why i love this place. Always something new to learn.
