This lays out, or tries to, JUSTIFY IMPRISONING INNOCENT PEOPLE WITHOUT TRIAL, OR EVEN THEIR CONSENT! They say they can get rid of the lockdowns , masks, and other precautions and limitations Of the general population if we submit to “sheilding (read imprisoning) certain, “at risk populations”!
For Arresting, relocating, AND actually IMPRISONING, HEALTHY, INNOCENT, mostly older, US Citizens that have “underlying conditions” they deem make us “high risk” to catch COVID19, forbidding contact with family, friends, and other “low risk Americans”. I do not doubt that the first arrested will be conservatives, Christians, Republicans, writers, speakers, and people with influence. Their document asserts they will be kept under MINIMAL Humane conditions indefinately! Nothing I read provides for their release! They say they estimate 6 months to implement this!

What is the Shielding Approach1?
The shielding approach aims to reduce the number of severe COVID-19 cases by limiting contact between individuals at higher risk of developing severe disease (“high-risk”) and the general population (“low-risk”). High-risk individuals would be temporarily relocated to safe or “green zones” established at the household, neighborhood, camp/sector or community level depending on the context and setting.1,2 They would have minimal contact with family members and other low-risk residents.

Current evidence indicates that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.3 In most humanitarian settings, older population groups make up a small percentage of the total population.4,5 For this reason, the shielding approach suggests physically separating high-risk individuals from the general population to prioritize the use of the limited available resources and avoid implementing long-term (virus) containment measures among the general population.

In theory, shielding may serve its objective to protect high-risk populations from disease and death. However, implementation of the approach necessitates strict adherence1,6,7, to protocol. Inadvertent introduction of the virus into a green zone may result in rapid transmission among the most vulnerable populations the approach is trying to protect. (Yeah, Oops!, we killed them all!, SO SORRY.)

A summary of the shielding approach described by Favas is shown in Table 1. See Guidance for the prevention of COVID-19 infections among high-risk individuals in low-resource, displaced and camp and camp-like settings 1,2 for full details.

You know, they had this plan all ready to go if they got into power THEN TRUMP SPOILED IT BY SUCCESSFULLY GETTING A WORKING VACCINE BEFORE THEY TOOK POWER!

i bet if they did not have the vaccine they would have not only implemented this “shield” program, but would NOT have tried to get a vaccine too hard!

WTF?!

Tired, just skimming, but my naive side hopes this applies to:
  • Camps (prisons, immigration, etc.)
  • Households as a "best practice" (physical distancing if someone is sick)
I say the above, based on the two footnotes - articles referenced - in the first sentence of the OP CDC article.

My paranoid side hopes there is NOT talk of people with guns dragging you away!

There is no way they would not work up their vaccine as it would be worth too much pesos for their pockets.

I've always believed in fighting for your home not from your home. This may change the dynamic considerably. It appears they will be coming to our doors to takes us as individuals. This won't leave much choice.

We are way to dependent on how things WERE, and not how things WILL BE.

Way to many history books teach us that a totalitarian government will implement measures to protect the people. That will be the reason they will use.

In late 1930's Germany, the Nazi's implemented a heath program (to serve and protect the people). Under that health program ambulances would pull up to a home, and take the old folks, to provide health benefits, and protect the families from disease. They never saw them again.

BTW with this election, trust in the government is gone. If they say it is for health and protection, it's a lie.

These regulations govern the isolation of "sick" people.

The application of these laws to healthy people is not covered under these laws. They are contrived.

I want to point something out with the "Nursing Home Death" discussion. When Hitler endorsed the "Final Solution" regarding the Jews and the other undesirables, he did it publicly and proudly. Now look at what Cuomo and DeBlasio have done during Covid: The same actions, just without the fanfare. Sadly, they learned a lesson from Hitler's hubris.

At least the Jews in New York have the sense to complain. No More Free Warsaws!

Without saying that killing undesirables was a good thing. That fanfare. He didn't say that, and he won't. Hitler was open about his goals, Cuomo (and his toady DeBlasio) are not.
