Go Woke, Go Broke: Sunday Night Football Ratings Crash by 17%

Whoever advised the NFL that turning their games into a showcase for leftist activism was a good idea, should be probably be declared non-essential.

NBC’s Sunday Night Football showcased two of the best franchises in the NFL over the last decade, despite that, the ratings crashed by nearly 20 percent.

“Pulling in 12.22 million viewers in the early metrics and 3.5 in the ratings between 7 -11 PM ET, last night’s big NFL game was down 17% in audience and 25% in the demo from the early numbers of last week’s SNF official season debut,” Deadline Hollywood reported. That hometown win on September 14, 2020 by the LA Rams over the Dallas Cowboys shifted up a bit to 18.94 million viewers and 6.2 ratings for the Comcast-owned network and the league in the final numbers.”

The NFL has suffered tremendous drops in viewership and ratings, particularly among their primetime offerings, since their return nearly two weeks ago. Last week’s Sunday Night Football match-up between the Cowboys and the Rams, suffered a 28% drop in ratings.

People are discovering they don't need professional sports as badly as they thought they did and thanks to the situation right now they don't have the money to spend to go to the games and buy their knick knacks even if they wanted to. And then these overpaid imbeciles basically defecating on the fans that help underwrite their paychecks the days of multi-million dollar contracts to play a dumb game are going to end.

Get woke go broke indeed and we'll see if when they don't get the big contracts anymore if they still think it was all worth it.

Yeah, I have a stupid neighbor who not only still watches, she wears her team jersey while doing so. Brain dead. And doesn't prepare for anything because "God will provide" and she thinks they won't be here at the end...

Woke?

look up how many people canceled cable and dish.

The decline in NFL watching is less than people cutting cable/dish.

I think very few people actually stopped watching because of the National Anthem issue. I know very few people that stopped watching the Packers.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving group . . .

I watched a bit last night. Thought, "What a terrible product." These guys have ONE job. Catch or throw a pass or block and they can't do it successfully even while getting millions per season. It's like when Shakill Oneil couldn't make a free throw and the other team knew it. As soon as he was in the paint they'd foul him and let him shoot/miss.

She, probably, won't be with that mindset

Which, of course, didn't work out as a game plan as you only get so many fouls per player... Hack-A-Shaq was a stupid idea when he played in college and it was a stupid idea in the pro's. Nothing but a desperate idea because coaches could not improvise and adapt a defensive plan to stop him.

Not surprised, They didn't have spring ota's, Or full summer practice, or the 4 preseason games to practice up and really be in football shape. So these games could not be anything other than a misshapen and unready product, and I expect the decline in ratings to continue over the next several months as these people continue to misbehave.

Pathetic.

Still way to many brain dead jock sniffers.

We need a new sport ball leagues. Maybe have a all patriotic and nationalistic league, where all the players and teams love The USA!

Then they can have their own American hating league. Sing their own songs, pledge their allegiance to who ever...

I'll might watch that.

I'm laughing out loud here. I didn't know it didn't work. I'm ignorant about the sportsball game of basket ball. Thanks for clearing that up. I stood next to a guy for 20 years who played for Versace at Bradley. I heard a LOT of Bball talk. I pretended I kind of knew what they were talking about. chuckle. Now when it came to automobiles, I know my stuff.

I really like this idea. We could sort what we wanted to watch.

It's sad that college sports is following suit but with alil bit less in your face antics. I live in a state were college basketball is king with football loved by many. Having seen both head coaches sport blm shirts etc, I'm basically done with them along with many long time fans. It's not easy to turn your fandom off, not here anyways

I grew up a mile from a paved quarter mile oval and went to sleep as a youth listening to the races. I've had Hot Rods my whole life. You name it, I've probably owned one. Never have owned a GTO though. That's about it. They ruined NASCAR with the template cars. It was way better when you could at least try to cheat. Restrictor plates? WTH is that?

Heh, yep. I was just jerkin' your chain.
I gave up on NooseCAR when they got away from actual production models on the track. When I saw a Lumina on the track, I asked how a front wheel drive car could accelerate out of a curve like that. That's when somebody schooled me and said it really was RWD with a Lumina-like shell.
The end.
BTW, is that what you were referring to as a "template car"?

ETA - still a 1/4 mile dirt track fan!

Yeah, they have a template they put on the car to make sure they didn't change the shape of the car the way Smokey Yunick did back in the day in his Trans Am Camaro that absolutely whooped everyone's ass. He changed the drip rails and the fenders and a lot more. It looked like a regular Camaro until it was parked next to another Camaro.

I got to go into the garage area one year in Chicongo. Very cool. I had met an owner of two cars and got invited. Very cool.

I remember someone on a board saying they, "Really liked the new stickers on the Dodge's this year!" My jaw hit the floor. I agree with you on the cars. A Camry? Really? Please.

I'm able to attend races when I go to a lake house. 3/8ths mile paved. Angola Speedway. Angola, Indiana. What a hoot!
