WEATHER Sally: On the ground updates

Has No Life - Lives on TB
We're just outside of Poplarville, MS. That's roughly fifty miles off of the Gulf Coast and thirty miles east of the Louisiana border. Yesterday they were predicting that Sally would pass over us or slightly west of us. As of now the predictions are that it will land due south of us with the eye passing to our east.

As of now we are just getting the first breezes from the storm. I'll will post updates as I can, though I expect our power and internet to go out as the weather gets worse. I can produce our own power, but there's nothing I can do about the net.

Best

Nothing from my cousins that work in the casinos on the MS Coast, but I'll keep checking.

Geeze Doc, when I think about a storm where you are concerned I remember what your place in Bay St. Louis looked like after Katrina, and the Hurricane bus you had. You are a smart man, and it was a pleasure to meet you all those years ago. We got out of the line of fire about the same time. My how the world has changed since then. Praying for you and your lovely wife, Stay safe.

God is good all the time

Prayers for your safety Doc1.
This morning when I was waiting for some minor repairs to my car, the tv weather channel had it aiming at Atlanta.

Stay safe Doc. Don't use this as an excuse to get an entry on the other thread, (stupid things I have done) to go bike riding in the storm.:sht::D

Quick update: Our winds and rain are picking up, though nothing severe just yet. Our internet has already gone out once, so I'm posting this now while it's back up - perhaps briefly. Don't worry. We have satellite internet and rain and even mild breezes take it out frequently.

Thanks Doc! I understand about your satellite internet going out because of rain and wind! Ours does, too.

We're up here in Tupelo, so holler if you need anything. We'll be glad to help. The same goes for mawmaw.

Praying for you! It's gonna be a long night!

I grew up near the beach in SC, lived on a beach near Southport, NC (hurricane magnet!) and now 15 miles from the west central Fla Gulf. Seen a bunch of hurricanes in 70 years but never personally seen one hit during the day when you could get an idea what was going on - always just wind/rain & DARK! Good luck!

Prayers for safety for all in the path!

This could be a nasty rainmaker if it stalls out. If it strengthens at all, the wind won't be nice either. I guess if you want to be anywhere, you'd rather be on the west side of it, the "cleaner" side...

I would tell you to hunker down, but I know there's no need :D

Tell me, do you still have the bugout bus? That was a classic story.

Mississippi Casinos closing. Sally is getting stronger, but the weather peeps are saying right now that it is going in at Biloxi and turning east putting us one the west side and for now even out of the cone !! We will see !! Watching it anyway

I live in Gulfport MS about 4 blocks north of the beach. I just finished boarding up my windows and trying to decide whether to leave or not. Most of the motels from Hattiesburg south are booked solid. I looks like I might be riding out the storm. At least I've got an unopened bottle of whiskey waiting for me if I need it. The local weather just said it is a strong Cat 2 and only one mile per hour below a Cat 3. Scary.

Doc, really? My old stomping grounds when I was in Air Force tech school. Some of the best times of my life were there.
