6 ft chain link fence with barbed wire on top around my 6 acres, thats over 2,000 ft of fence,

new back, mine hurts

be 30 years younger
DH has fenced a large part of our 12 acres, mostly in field fence but some in chicken wire. He expanded the chicken yard by 100 feet, so that was fencing inside of what he had already fenced to keep the goats in, the grass always looks greener to goats and they wander. DH is almost 77, but he does have reasonably good health, although bad back and knees, he wears braces for his back and knees. He does have some of the fencing topped with barbed wire, and some electric.

God is good, all the time.

Chest freezer dreamin'?

We run a 10 cf chest freezer on off-grid solar. We filled two 7-gallon cubes with water and put them in the bottom to freeze hard.

Then we put the freezer on a timer so it runs when the sun is up and turns off at night so it doesn't draw down batteries. YMMV

That's ingenious!!! I LOVE IT!!! I'll have to put pencil to paper and get to calculating how to do that. THANK YOU.

Personal energy. Seriously. It's not realistic to expect to be able to work like I did in my 20s, but even with a great diet and good sleep, I still get to about 1 pm and that's about it for the day.

If I could at least hang in there until 5:00 pm (with some short breaks), I would be able to accomplish a lot more of my prep goals.

A mini barn to lock the goats in at night. More cattle panels and gates. Can never have too many.

On the subject of backs. I've been living in constant pain for the past two years. Some mornings I didn't know if I'd be able to swing my legs out of bed. This week has been fantastic, no pain! I've no idea what's changed but it's wonderful, I'm bouncing off the walls :) Praying it lasts. I immediately dived back into working with my horses and pack donkeys. I'd begun to break one of the donkeys to ride but had to put it all on hold. Can't wait to get her in the round pen tomorrow to see how much she remembers. I've sat on her a few times and done lots of ground work so I'm not expecting any major blow ups. Donkeys are so cool and pretty good at retaining what they learn. Her face lights up and she starts braying when she sees that pack saddle. She thinks she's the bees knees when she can help to carry stuff. I consider the donkeys as part of our preps.

Just buzzin along
Long term stuff: there are too many things to list.
My wish list would make “Atlas Shrugged” look like a phamplet.

Short term stuff: I’d love to get my hernia fixed so I can pick up more than 20 pounds at a time.
Surgeon is willing, Hospital says it isn’t severe enough yet, still considers it elective surgery.

On TB every waking moment
Well for the garden with some sort of solar pump.
Freezer full of meat and dairy
Larger kitchen with pantry storage
electric bike or scooter

Nothing unreal exists
  • 2-3 cords of firewood
  • Stock-up on all vitamins/supplements (NOTE: I recently discovered that you can buy powdered pure vitamin D3 on Amazon; a single 5,000 IU dose weighs only 46 mg; a little goes a long way, and it's pretty inexpensive)
  • I'm currently trying to get all of the stored gasoline turned-over; hard when the wife and I are not driving much these days
Most everything else is in 'maintenance mode'.
