Are you sure about that?

I’m confused. Are there two or three separate events? There’s a fire in an Emirates market and a fire in multiple warehouses in Najaf, Iraq. Are these the same incident?

At this point there is:

1. The harbor explosion that blew up a good chunk of Beruit -mostly Syrian Christian and Shia Mulsim

2. A very large fire at a famous Mall in the UAE, a place where many ex-pats live and work (especially Europeans) - Sunni Muslim

3. A fire in Iraq at a bunch of warehouses - both Sunni and Shia areas

4. Multiple Explosions and fires all over Iran (especially electrical supply stations, probably military installations/labs, etc) that have been on-going for at least a month.

There's that's my scorecard so far, anyone else feels free to add as I don't think this is over, and yeah I see a pattern...

Ajman is a suburb north of Dubai. Driven through there, had a friend who lived there... many many years ago.

Which market got hit?

My housemate said you can add another "candidate" for the "list" at least for this fire, Saudi Arabia has been at odds with the UAE over Yemen.

That said, I am starting to think this may be a great "cover window" for anyone in the Middle East who wants to settle a score and then hide behind the general chaos...

While working in Dubai, I was up in Sharjah a time or two checking on a couple of drilling rigs which were being worked on in Khalid port. (You can see idled jackup rigs when you zoom into the port on satellite view) I don't recall seeing this market but we swung around on the desert route to avoid the heavy traffic at the time. The main highway always was a parking lot.
