High-end stores across the country have been boarding up their stores in anticipation of civil unrest due to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.
In Beverly Hills, the Pottery Barn and West Elm stores near Rodeo Drive were spotted with boards across the windows according to TMZ.

Meanwhile, stores in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Paris, Vancouver and elsewhere were similarly boarded up.

The “Magnificent Mile” in Chicago today. It looks like Chile in November. All fancy stores boarded up. Are they afraid of #Covid19 or of something else? @DMatamala

I was never much into the consumer mentality...I shop quickly and get out at least as fast as a man would. But this makes me sad for my grandchildren because the country, the world, has changed from the incredible, astounding bounty we had. At the same time...perhaps things will tilt more to what they should be for families, socially, spiritually. I pray God that we come thru this better, not defeated. But it will, no doubt, be hard. Much harder than mere stores boarding up - but I think they do presage what comes.

By the time the chimps pry the plywood, it'll be, baked into the cake over! But yeah, things are definitely different now. How many will realize it?

an interesting observation fox . . . my immediate though? - those who survive - and by that I mean those who will survive on either CULTURAL SIDE of the encounter(s) we see being anticipated here based on the OP's pix . . .

interesting times - in the Chinese sense of the word.

The fact we do not have hordes of hungry people running the streets, tells me that we still have a bounty. How much longer that lasts is the big question.

This is why I scan these pages every day. I am looking for "real" shortages that are not being replaced

I was in the Grants Pass Walmart last night and things look to be getting back to normal on most food items. Interestingly, I purchased a plastic storage box last week and the gauge of the plastic was significantly thinner, and not of the flexible type. I wouldn't stack anything on top, well, except maybe a package of toilet paper.

Saw some pics, which may be in those that you snipped out (no problem I understand) which looked like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. That were the same way.

Dear ol' Tucker Carlson last night, as he ended each segment was showing pictures of town down NYC,
LA, Naw 'leans etc., all deserted. Reminded me of Rick riding his horse in Atlanta, in the first few episodes of Walking Dead, until he went around the corner, THERE THEY WERE.

those stores are closed and the coppers are elsewhere >>> they are loaded with merchandise eazily snatched & grabbed - just taking robbery precautions

I have been getting the 4 or 5 qt versions from Home Depot. They have a split top that is attached. Does a decent job of organizing the Christmas stuff. We even stuffed our emergency food preps for bugging out into one.

Yes, but the police said they won't arrest for such things in far too many states or large cities....

I was just looking at two packages of Ivory soap. The ones I bought years ago and one I bought last year the bars are significantly smaller, I'd wondered how they were able to keep the prices about the same for the last several years.

In our house it's called: Philippined the product. If you've ever been to a 3rd world country, ya go into say a Mc Donald's, you can get a Big Mac, but it's the size of a 7 11 slider biscuit. Yeah, been Philippined.

Check Costco. They have sturdy 27 gallon yellow and black totes pretty cheap. I have 6. Almost filled with food and such.

What I'd like is for a store to leave a potential weak point, like a boarded access door. If the rioters break in, herd them into a steel box made of nice thick bars surrounded by a hired security force.

Let's Go Brandon!
its coming

you know its coming

I spend a lot of my time online, on African centric websites.

No doubt, IMHO, that the Africans are being ginned up to riot.

They are claiming that it will be systemic racism, when the Covid-19
hits the inter city ghettos, and nothing can or will be done,
to stop the massive deaths, that they are expecting to occur.

They go on to state, that White flight and gentrification,
have destroyed their areas of the major metros,
that have in fact been destroyed, by their Stone Age Tribal Jungle Culture.

It is always the evil White man's fault, and once Covid-19 does hit
the major metro area 3rd world ghettos, they are going to strike back
with a vengeance that has never been seen.

Add to that, that most major metro areas, are opening the jail house doors,
and no longer even attempt to stop the criminal savages,
nothing in history has been as bad, as to what is coming.

We ain't go no time left. The day that we have all prepped for,
and believed would occur, is finally here.

Please be safe everyone.

Regards to all.

Security force? No need. Just weld the entrance shut after they go in. Give bait, like the're rats

Up here in portland the pioneer place mall has boarded up most of the windows along its south side. It is most of a full city block.
