Houston Mayor Pleads with Criminals to 'Chill' Until Coronavirus Over

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) on Sunday urged would-be criminals to remain in their homes and “chill” until the Chinese coronavirus epidemic subsides in the Texas city.
“The best way to help police officers is to not commit a crime,” Turner told reporters during a press conference on his city’s latest efforts to combat the deadly illness. “Until the coronavirus is resolved, criminals, take a break.”

“Stay home and don’t commit any crimes. Thay way, they will stay safe and out of jail and police offers will stay safe and go home to there families,” the mayor added. “Crooks, criminals, you chill.”
Earlier in his press briefing, Turner confirmed 53 new coronavirus cases in Houston, bringing the city’s total number to 937. 9 people have died from the illness and 57 recovered.
11 police officers and firefighters have contracted the virus, according to Houston Police Department (HPD) Chief Art Acevedo. As of Sunday, Texas has 2,552 total cases and 34 deaths.
Turner noted the jump in cases is likely due to an increase in testing.
“I fully expect the numbers will continue to rise and that will help us address our situation in the city of Houston,” he said.

When your opponent is showing signs of exhaustion or lack of cohesion....that is when the full court press is most effective. Pretty sure the mayor has played basketball at some point.

The good mayor just signalled weakness to the opponent.

I'm not a bad guy, but if I were....these times would be very fortuitous.

Weren't a lot of the Katina model citizens relocated to Houston?....................Do you remember how they looted and shot at people trying to save them while in New Orleans during the flooding?

If they acted like that during a hurricane disaster why would their jungle DNA be any different this time around?

What an embarrassment to Western society this mayor and his people are...........

While the verbage is hilarious, it does bring to mind the fact that LEO won't really have a soft option if this keeps going where it's going. "Chill or be killed". Just a thought

Reminds me of how a few years ago a Houston mayor (don't remember if was same guy or not) who estimated that HALF the Uber Cab drivers had outstanding arrest warrants and/or previous felony convictions. Seems that just sending enough paddy wagons and JBTS to pick up everyone in certain buildings or locations (whether a housing project, would net a LOT of known criminals.

It's Houston. From my understanding it isn't really Texas anymore, but California East..... if so, I doubt they will do much to protect themselves.
