Hey, all... after seeing some first-hand reports on Facebook of noticeable food price increases, I thought it might be helpful in lieu of the current economic/pandemic conditions to keep a running list of any increases you're witnessing at the stores. Looks like for starters, the good ol' staple of beans and rice are going up significantly. Also, if you see any shortages, please post them here (with photos, if possible).

-Yes! Just noticed the beans at Sams yesterday!
-I don't have a Sam's membership, I go to Costco, but I too have noticed prices going up. Kerrygold butter and organic ground beef both are up $2/each I believe. Other food items too.

I give up.
Hmmm.... went shopping for a few things yesterday. Had a $5 off store coupon. Also had over $12.00 in my points (more dollars off). And many things were on sale. Been trying to get canned goods and package things like rice, pasta and potatoes; jarred quart sauces of different types around $1.00. Beans I can't do much. However at the end I only spent about $30.00 for over $50 worth of stuff. And I got a new bunch of points. Oh, and they remodeled the store and now have a $1.00 aisle, all kinds of stuff. I couldn't believe a large selection of Wise chips were there, so scarfed up some of those too. I will say I am getting a little twitchy about going out now though, so we try to do our shopping at off hours, and wipe down the carts before we use them. Haven't seen anyone wearing masks in the store; haven't seen any oriental-looking peeps either.

Looks like I'm in for a surprise when I get to go back into town! The last time I went, things were already going up at Sam's and Walmart.

I think a lot of people, and companies, are keeping their powder dry for a bit longer. I will be taking advantage of this. I'm going to buy food that I know I'd eat anyway, freeze the perishables, and eat it as I need it, regardless of CoronaChan teasing us or not. She's a real minx, no? ;)

Yes ole coronachan is exactly that. I took my SIL but didn't really intend to buy much due to being pretty well stocked. But I bought quite a bit of non-perishables and so did she.

Regularly scheduled checkup with my GP today. Shocked him out of his sox because usually vax averse me actually asked for the PPSV-23 pneumonia vax. They had it on hand in the practice and I got one. Discussed the WuFlu some - he hadn't known China's only level 4 biolab was in Wuhan. He said he was going to start some homework to find out what else he didn't know/hadn't been told. Suggested Chris Martenson's podcasts as a good overview.

Then down the hill to the grocery store (Grocery Store | Food Lion). No empty shelves except a couple of the special sale items, no increases in prices that I noted. Did a pantry replenishment and called it good.

DC area/northern Va are here. Wife is off this week so she's enjoying doing some shopping on her own. Snagged a huge deal on coffee (Starbucks blonde roast K cups, 18 pack) at the local PX. $1.25 for a box-6 on their shelves is now 6 boxes on OUR shelves.
She likes to shop Asian grocery stores; she said places look empty compared to before coronavirus. No shortages and some of the fresh fish (which she won't buy there) have really gone up in price. She's doing the mask thing in those type stores; most shoppers there are doing the same thing.
Local Food Lions appear to still be well stocked here; they still have great sale prices on the manager special beef and pork. Wife just jammed more chicken breasts she got on sale today ($ 1.99 for 6 or 8 breasts bagged, Tysons farms) into the already about to bust freezer.

SW VA: On Saturday WM had very little bleach. However, Sams had lots. I noticed WM had more empty spots than I've seen since the last big snow storm. I've noticed OTC meds had quite a few empty spots as well with nothing on the top shelf where they keep extra stock. I have not noticed anyone who looked like they were "stocking up". People may be on the verge of waking up. they were actually talking about Corona Virus at work today.

went to Omaha Ne, just rejoined Sams, had pallets of rice, didnt need any, had almost everything I needed, but 2 strange things were out, no shaving cream, NONE, and no stick butter, they had 5 pound tubs, but they usually carry 4 pounds of sticks. those to be gone was a suprice. and no vitamin C pills at all,

In CA's high desert things seem to be the same. Received everything on my instacart order and the ads had a lot of bargains at the Mexican markets. The only shortage I've run into is masks online and I already had some. I am finding the panic early and avoid the rush saying to hold me in good stead.

Because its a 140 mile round trip to anyplace other than our tiny local town, I shop online for everything. I have a couple large Walmart orders on the way and everything I ordered was in stock for immediate shipment.

I'm in pretty good shape, but I'm going to head into town after work tomorrow and get a few more items. Glad to hear things aren't too crazy out there after the news of the day.

The bean issue I warned everyone about last fall! It’s due to two years of miserable bean harvest due to the weather. Btw you can expect the price of beef to triple I need the next month or so, pe4 two people I know who work in grocery. Also there’s a supply issue with tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini due to weather issues in Mexico... possibly caused by the continued volcanic eruptions there and in another Central America country.

Weather issues will continue to be a huge issue in Canada and the US due to continued volcanic eruptions in the Philippines, Russia, and Alaska.

Just got back from Sam's club in Huntsville Alabama. I was out buying my daughter and granddaughter a months worth of food for a rotating pantry. Everything was in stock and crowd was low. None of the carts looked like folks stocking up.

We went back to Kroger this evening and I expected it to be crazy with snow predicted, but it was fairly quiet. No one had much in their cart, and everything was well stocked. Rural King was quiet too.

Sales prices everywhere I look and I looked plenty yesterday as it was dedicated to grocery shopping to replenish the food the family had eaten while hubby and I were out of town. Lots of people out shopping and plenty were buying. Costco, SAMs, Winn Dixie, Aldi, Publix, Dollar General, and Dollar Store. Wallyworld was something that I did on Saturday and the place was packed per usual, stocking shelves as fast as their little hamsters could empty cases, prices just the same.

I don't know where you all that are seeing price increases are at. Perhaps it is a regional thing or even related to increasing state taxes and increasing labor costs.

Our local stores here (I was in Smiths today, a division of Kroger) had no shortages or any big price increases. I stocked up on some canned chicken, already have lots of freeze dried thrive chicken slices but I wanted a little extra just to rotate out some older stuff and top off the supplies. Hit up my friend who owns a military surplus store (I do a whole lot of trading in there lol) and Traded him a few of my newer Olight flashlights (I do videos for them so I get lots every month to review) for 4 brand new cases of MREs.. those went into the store room as well.

Just had a normie lefty contact me and ask what she should be stocking up on. She's pulling her money from the market and her family is stocking up. Her daughter works for a doctor and the business trips to Europe have all been cancelled. she's panicking.

It's starting. I've been telling people for weeks to panic early and avoid empty shelves. They are finally listening.
