Etsy shops?

More and more members here have mentioned having Etsy shops. I'd love to have everyone chime in here that has one so we can have a list to check whenever we want to look for or buy something on Etsy. I'd much rather support a fellow tb2k'er there. :)

So, please, if you are selling on Etsy, or even Handmade at Amazon, chime in here.

Thanks for the thread, Deena in GA. At the end of December last year, I opened my little bakery shop on Etsy. I already have established a presence in our town with the weekly farmer's market, baking take away goods for a local restaurant, and private orders. My specialty is Shortbread Cookies and I had so many people asking if I can ship them, I decided to open a shop on Etsy ~ it has been slow going as I work to get my shop up and running (must make the product, photograph, do a write up, figure out shipping, etc..) and my local market just opened up for the season, but over the past couple of weeks, I've made a few sales ~ in fact, I shipped out 10 boxes of cookies this morning (that was just 2 of my sales last week). I do have a certified home kitchen, and I'm allowed to sell baked goods, and jams, both of which I do. Here is my shop if anyone would like to take a look ~ Swoon the Bakery at Garnet Creek Road

So glad someone started this post. Wonderful shop! You found a lazy cookie lover here and I just placed an order for your chocolate cherry cookies.

I see that, and I want to thank you here so very much! Those are my best sellers at the market. I'll get those baked for you and get them shipped out soon!

Awesome! I got loads of help from people here who have shops on etsy, I got mine going but it wasn't too successful due to my inability to navigate the esty site. It never occurred to me to sell food on etsy, though I've been considering selling Keto foods at the farmer's markets here, I'm not sure how much demand there is for it.

I've phased out my artsy stuff and went back to doing natural cosmetics-lotions, lip balms, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, perfumes, colognes, mineral makeup (the makeup is new but so far I've got rave reviews on my anti-ageing liquid foundation!). I also have a men's line of products including beard oil and conditioners, shaving soaps and deodorant bars, and a baby line, too. Once I find space I'd like to do a young girl's product line, ages 8-12 who are wanting to be like mom but need something much less adult. Main thing holding me back at the moment is really crappy product photos, I have my website name and a wix site I'm working on, I really need to get with it.

Garnetgirl, I wish you massive success, your products sound so wonderful, I'm off to go look at your site. Oh, how hard was it to get your kitchen approved? I live in a commie state (WA) so I am expecting it to be a real line of hoops, probably not worth the effort just to sell something at the farmer's market.

LOL, Garnet, you used as your backdrop and labels my all time favorite graphic from Graphics Fairy!!! I've slapped that thing on cans, matts, even my business card! LOVE your site, awesome. :D

Isn't Graphics Fairy great! I discovered her several years ago and use a ton of her labels in my packaging!

Flippper ~ it was not difficult to get my home kitchen certified. I did have to go through the process of having an inspector come from our state Ag office ~ some of the requirements ~ no animals that live in the house, well water to be tested once a year and documents kept on file, access to a bathroom with hot running water and disposable towels, covered garbage can, all light fixtures covered (no open bulbs), that type of thing. I'm sure each state has their own requirements. This allows me to sell baked goods and jams at any venues (markets, restaurants, from home, from Etsy). I can get further certification for pickles and salsa, but that requires a $400 class (which I could probably teach with my experience ~ lol), and batch testing at $100 per item. So, that's a little pricey for the small seller.

Flippper, you should try Etsy again with your line of natural products.

Goosebeans and garnetgirl, I love both of your shops! Wishing you many sales!

I know there's more people here with Etsy shops, so I hope they will chime in.

I have my jewelry, calligraphy, whatever (I don't have any whatever loaded yet - like upcycled clothing, etc, but hope to get there eventually) shop: EvenTheStones

NONE of my twisty necklaces get any views any more, so apparently something changed with their search. I still sell the long necklaces & pearl necklaces, but the collage and twisty ones are pretty much just sitting there.

Oooh, I like the black collage necklace, WG!

I wonder what changed. Etsy can be really strange. Fifty views every day for a week and then less than five for days on end. They seem to be always making alterations to the site. It makes it very hard to project ahead. I do find that I have to go in and change things a couple of times a week: raise a price, lower a price, change titles etc. It seems to help generate traffic. I think it brings the shop up higher in searches.

If anyone finds themselves in desperate need of chainmaille, I'm on Etsy also.

garnetgirl, I love your photos! Product pictures are the bane of my existence. I have over a dozen new items I need to do photos for now and get them listed. Maybe this thread will get me motivated. Thanks Deena!

WG, I have a section of items that sold well also, and then all of a sudden....crickets. They don't even get any views. Strange, isn't it?

I just looked at all of the shops and love them all. Very creative bunch. I am a textile artist and have had my store on and off for a few years but unfortunately no sales yet. I did do an Etsy pop up market this past Saturday and had excellent reviews and feedback plus sold quite a few smaller pieces - $5.00 - $15.00 range plus two more expensive items.

According to one of the organizers she suspects I am seen as well as I could be and is willing to help me figure it out as my products are light and easy to ship. Hopefully, I will be able to succeed as I am getting closer to retirement and a little extra income would not hurt.

My shop is: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/handstitchedhome?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Thank you, garnetgirl! The hemp soap bags are my best sellers, along with my scrubbies.

Gizbe, I love your work!! Do you have the Sell on Etsy app or the Etsy pay thingie (gone braindead, lol) where people can pay you on your phone? When you're at a market or craft fair, if people want to pay by credit card, you can use one of those to take their payment and it will show as an Etsy sale. I've only used it a very few times, but one young man I know hasn't sold hardly anything from the Etsy site, but has a number of sales showing there because he uses the pay thingie. Hope you don't mind some advice, but you need to use more tags and make your titles longer (match the words in both). That will help you get seen more. Also, more items always gives you more chances of being seen. And a lot of people like to read the "About" section to know more about you, the artist. I would suggest filling that out.

Juco, that's so funny about you admiring garnetgirl's photos because I've always admired yours so much. They are so sharp and clear!

Love everyone's shops!! I should have you all favorited now. :)

Thank you for the comments and feedback Juco and Deena. Several people sent me a payment on their phone during the market which was a new experience. I do have the etsy pay thing set up where Etsy deposits into my account.

Deena, I love your ideas and will try and figure out more tags and adding to my titles and matching them up. Over the next couple of weeks I will be adding more items and will also take a closer look at the 'about' section. So many great ideas which are very much appreciated.

Thanks to all for taking a peek at my, work, too. So glad you started this thread.

I started an etsy account a few months ago..I do wedding items.

https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/WeddingsByDorinda

I kinda fell of that track when I came up with a few idea's for preppers asking what gifts do you get a DGI.

I have made angels from cord, I am just at the final stages of completing those and the cord in a SHTF situation can be used as candle wicking. This is a picture of an incomplete angel still need to put something in the hands. There are two difference sizes of the angels. I have posted to this link the medium sized angels(sold in sets of 4) pictures available at the link

http://prepareforfuture2.forumotion.com/t162-medium-angels-made-with-candle-wicking#349

I am making decorate wall hangings with small tea candles that can be hung on the wall(usually done in a set of 2)

Last few days i have been making washable period pads.

Since the new stuff I am making is more of a specialty item for preppers I am using my old back up forum to start posting these items, once I have more pictures up of the items the link will be in my signature line

here is link to the few pictures I have right now

http://prepareforfuture2.forumotion.com/t161-emergency-candle-wall-hangers

I am in not any way trying to promote the forum style in which I am posting the DGI items for sale..it was there from years ago and I am using it to post new craft items I am making.

Thank You for starting this thread..I have been brain storming these ideas and working on them in between working regular job.

Personally, I think its well worth the time and effort to have a shop, but everyone's opinion is going to be different. You can't just throw some things in a shop and sit back, thinking they will sell with no effort, like some people seem to think. It takes some work to come up with effective titles, tags and photos, along with work just getting your name out there and your shop seen. Last I saw, there are 1.7 million Etsy shops, so I'm happy just to know I'm seen in that number. I will never get rich from my crocheting, or even really make a living, but at the same time, my expectations were so low that I'm thrilled with what has happened with my shop. ;)

Btw, if any of you are 60 or older, we have a great little team on Etsy just for us "older" folks. You can find us at https://www.etsy.com/teams/25288/the-sixtys-club-team

Once I get my business up to speed I'll likely order some of your hemp soap bags if you sell wholesale, bad thing about living in a poor county is that everyone is super tight with their dollars and rightfully so, etsy helps distribute home crafted products to people who would never see them in Podunk, Washingtucky.

Deena, if you use the phone app cc payment method and it goes on as an etsy sale, does paypay take their usual pound of flesh too?

In case anyone is interested I buy a lot of merchandise on Etsy and the way I usually search is "handmade". Recently I purchased handmade wooden box with hinges, handmade cosmetics,
Handmade leather goods, chocolates hand dyed silk scarves,, and cloth bags to put gifts in. I am not interested in vintage so the keyword in my search is handmade. It always gets me to where I want to shop. Don't know if this helps.

I can give a discount for bulk buys, but can't do wholesale because hemp is expensive and I keep my prices reasonable. When/if you are interested, just pm me and we'll talk about it. Thanks! PP won't get any unless you have only PP as a payment option for your shop (which as you may know is going away in May). The normal Etsy fees do apply though.

Thanks! I never thought to use handmade as one of my tags because I just assumed (yeah, know what they say about assuming) that everything there is handmade, if its not vintage. I will add it to my tags.

I could be wrong, but I think when you list an item if you put "I did" on the "who made it", that puts the "handmade" tag on your listing automatically. For sure, it does show your listing that way - I guess the question is whether the search finds that without a special tag.

Edit to add: when someone searches on "handmade" as part of their search, it automatically limits it to those who put "I did" on the "who made it".

The name of my shop is siriusmosaics. I mainly sell vintage to newer jewelry - a lot of Native American. Also if there is something you are looking for, I add it to my list when I'm out and about. I try to have great customer service, fast shipping, and don't have a problem with anyone asking for a lower price - sometimes I can give a discount, sometimes not.

I willtry to get an Etsy shop back up and running Deena. I have so many crafts it's really quite ridiculous. Some of the things I make are fleece hoodies with pixie pointed hoods, ladies clothing such as batik summer tops, skirts, chamile tops, velvets and satin dresses and small jackets, ladies and kids hobo purses, barefoot sandals, all kinds of jewelry out of paper beads including hair sticks, adult and kids totes and all kinds of herbal products. I'll post some pictures in a bit if anyone would like to see some of my work.

Thanks for giving me a kick Deena. ;)

Tno5, you have a cool shop!

Vicki, you really do need to open a shop! Sounds like you have tons to stock it with. Love your hair sticks!!!

I love seeing everyone's shops!

On the handmade thing, I checked my listings and they don't have handmade as a tag, but WisconsinGardener is probably right about it filtering if you chose "I did" when you listed an item.

Thanks for encouraging me Garnetgirl and Deena. I see we got moved to the corkboard but then only members can see the shops. Wouldn't it of been better in the Artistic License forum where anyone could see it and access them? Just a suggestion.:)

Here's a few adult purse pictures. They are hipster length and the inside are vinyl for easy cleaning except the yellow one which has a pretty yellow flower cotton inners. Most have small pockets inside and sometimes out and all of these were sold.

Ok, a few more things.. clothing. Some of the pictures aren't great and I apologize for that. The one top on top of the others had glass beads sewn all around the bottom in baby blue. I know it's harder to see. It was cute. The front picture of that batik was too blurry to post so you get to see the back. :) And the girl in the picture was 14 and a daughter of a good friend of mine. She loved modeling for me as you can tell. lol
