    Trump will veto.

    Final vote 59 - 41 to terminate.

The U.S. Senate has 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats (including two independents).
There are 34 seats up in 2020 - including a special election in Arizona - of which 22 are held by the GOP.
Democrats will need to gain 3 or 4 seats to take control.

Take note of these R senators who are going to get primaried out in 2020. I don’t agree with the executive having so much power for the executive orders but it’s established law and they haven’t kicked over the years voting against all the other executive orders.

12 GOP senators rebuke Trump, vote with Dems to block border emergency

    by Susan Ferrechio

    March 14, 2019 02:51 PM

A dozen Republican senators on Thursday voted with Democrats to block President Trump's declaration of an emergency at the southern border, a politically embarrassing rebuke to Trump that will set up the first veto of his presidency.

Trump declared the emergency to justify moving $3.6 billion from a military construction fund to a project to build physical barriers along the southern border. But that plan is opposed not just by Democrats, but by many Republicans who worry Trump is testing or exceeding the boundaries of the National Emergencies Act.

In the House last month, 13 Republicans helped Democrats pass the resolution aimed at rejecting Trump's declaration. Thursday's 59-41 vote in the Senate will send it to Trump's desk, and Trump has said he would veto it.

The 12 Republicans who voted against Trump included Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate leadership team.

"There are several existing authorities that could be used to support what President Trump wants to do at the border without creating a court case or declaring an emergency," said Blunt, R-Mo., who is the Republican Policy Committee Chairman. "I have encouraged him to use those authorities."

Other Republicans who voted with Democrats were Lamar Alexander, Susan Collins, Mike Lee, Jerry Moran, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, Rob Portman, Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey and Roger Wicker.

Trump on Thursday made a last-ditch effort to salvage GOP Senate votes with a tweet promising to back future changes to the National Emergencies Act. But his sudden willingness to cut a deal with Congress came too late. On Wednesday, he rejected a bill authored by Sen. Mike Lee that would have given Congress veto-proof power to block future national emergency declarations by the executive branch.

By the time Trump was tweeting his willingness to back such a plan, some Republicans were publicly declaring support for revoking Trump’s current national emergency declaration.

But Trump made progress with one Republican: Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, who said he would vote for the resolution but changed his mind after having what he called "very, very productive" talks with Trump about the issue.

Republicans who voted against Trump fear the president's declaration sets up future unilateral moves by the executive branch to implement Democratic priorities such as gun control or measures to combat climate change.

“This declaration is a dangerous precedent,” Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said Thursday morning. “Already, Democrat presidential candidates are saying they would declare emergencies to tear down the existing border wall, take away guns, stop oil exports, shut down offshore drilling and other leftwing enterprises — all without the approval of Congress.”

The resolution won’t immediately stop Trump from using the money. After Trump vetoes, it, the House and Senate can vote to override that veto, but the votes don't appear to be there in the House to overturn Trump. About 50 more Republicans would have to vote with Democrats in the House to override, well short of the 13 who voted against Trump last month.

In the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., won't be required to take up a veto override vote even if the House somehow finds a way to pass it.

Trump will face more significant obstacles in the courts.

Sixteen states so far have sued to stop him from using the National Emergencies Act to fund the wall and legal experts believe Thursday’s congressional rebuke will hurt Trump’s chances of winning in court by giving opponents more legal standing to argue the move is not sanctioned by Congress and is not constitutional.

The fact that Trump's Emergency Order has now been voted down in both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. Of course Trump will veto the bill. He will most likely be upheld, but I can't rule out another 8 Republican Senators being bought off, or blackmailed, or threatened to get to 67. the level of corruption in the USA of 2019 is so vast anything is now possible.
Finally, Searcher when Trump's veto is upheld, his executive order will then be challenged in court. The Democrats will get an Obamabot judge, just like with the Muslim travel ban, and he/she will issue a restraining order with immediate effect. This will be followed by a year and one half, until the 2020 election, of legal wrangling until it gets to SCOTUS, where it may be upheld. Even if it is, the Democrats and RINOS will have won since Trump won't build another inch of border barrier the rest of his first term.

Yep, I'm not sure if Trump can get anything done at all at this point. The RINOS have crushed him.

A judge can write the restraining order, and the wall will continue to be built with funds not included in the emergency funding. So that effort marches on. Beyond that, a judge can write an injunction on anything, it doesn't mean the President has to follow the injunction, unless the judge has force of arms to address the issue. Good luck with that.

If and when his vetoing this bill gets it tossed to the courts, Trump will demand it be 'fast tracked' to the Supreme Court...because it *is* an emergency... Pray that the SC votes for Trump.

The wall is already being built as we speak, and the ones working on it have been busy little bees. I'm hoping that, by the time the democrats manage to push any blocks through--if they manage at all--that Trump will say: "Oh, okay, you win. By the way, the wall's already been built. Have a nice day!"

And as the Wall continues to block areas which are now used for drug and people pushing, it will gradually make the open spaces fewer and smaller, so the bad guys will have less option as to where they play. And the BP can enforce those funnel-type areas better and interdict the drugs and force the people to climb higher through horrible terrain. More will die, but as the risk becomes known, fewer will try it.

    Win-win-win.....

As someone else has said, if a million illegals crossing the southern border every year isn't a national emergency, just what the hell is??

Let alone it being "another" million, or two, of which they recieve financial support from the sweat of the backs of every producing citizen. The laws that demand such welfare need to be rescinded to nothing. zippo THen let them run for the border going south.

I called Roy Blunt's office in Columbia to let them know I am disappointed, in the middle of a sentence I was hung up on. I don't believe it was an accident as the guy who answered said "thank y" and hung up.

what did you learn from that experience?
would you waste your valuable time in a similar fashion in the future?
will you vote for Roy or those of his ilk in the future?

Within a short period of time, there was multiple breaking news and I couldn't keep up with all of it....Israel, Christchurch, Lil Kim making a not-so-veiled threat and I read 60+ illegals stormed thru the fence and I have been dealing with multiple tornadoes and storms. (I haven't found that tweet/article again on the illegals, will post it when I find it again.)

I think I have had enough info thrown at me for tonight....

Thank you, Lilbitsnana. You have done a tremendous job on reporting the news for everyone here. I don't know how you do it.

Just voted for the lying worthless Hawley to rid ourselves of Claire and will continue to vote against the incumbent who does not represent my views.

Boy burns me up, Roger Wicker scum bag low life. So many things wrong with that man.

BUT he won't get voted out either. Reason: He lives in Tupelo. Big Democratic stronghold, very progressive, big supporters of Agenda 2030. The mayor is one of the biggest crooks in the state. Attends First Baptist in Tupelo. A very liberal church, have cousins, and friends who go there, along with the local media.

The big democratic machine in Tupelo will vote for him, because he is a liberal. Then in the outlying counties will vote for him because he is a Republican, and a big church goer.

He's in there for life. Will die in office.

If Trump were to do an Emergency Declaration that was a full attack on the 2A, every one of these rotten, commie, cork soakers would be doing the happy dance in support.

THAT would be well within the purview of his power...by their standards.

Wish this was a real GC to a day spa, instead of a digital flower.... But the thank you is 100% real!

Um, the facts show that Trump has built ZERO miles of actual border wall at this point. He has upgraded 26 miles of border fencing with new bollard type fencing. Considering the border covers 2,000 miles, even if he doesn't have to block all of that off, it is simply a fact that Trump lost. Granted, he will veto it, but so what? Two years from now we will still be having this discussion, and Trump will still have not built one inch of border wall. He may, repeat may, have increased the border fencing from the pathetic 26 miles. Again, it will take months before SCOTUS hears any appeal of the inevitable Obamabot judge restraining order. Look how long it took to deal with the Muslim travel ban!

Sorry, but we are dealing with TREASON here by the RINOS! And yeah, wtf happened in Utah? Utah is now a bastion of RINOISM? is that a real word? he he he Anyway, I think I will add RINOISM to the political agenda, much like Communism, Socialism and all the rest.
