RadarScope put a tornado watch box up over my part of central Iowa, north of Des Moines. We’re under a severe thunderstorm warning and flash flood watch.

We got a good storm last night. Our next round of severe weather got moved to tomorrow night. Which probably means we will get hit again tonight.

Hi Guys,
This is just east of us. It passed over us. The damage is significant. All the local fire depts are busy with wires down and lightning strikes. We haven’t had a storm like this since the one that nearly destroyed downtown Kalamazoo when I was in high school. (In 1980…40 years ago this week)

According to our local news, no casualties yet.

The weather guys are saying that this latest storm is following I-94. Pray for these poor people…they are sitting ducks on the interstate!

Blacknarwhal…this thing is headed toward your neck of the woods…heads up and prayers for you!

I'm not seeing any oficial watch boxes in Iowa?

I think it was a localized storm that just popped up: it was a fast mover. Within about 15 minutes we went from sunny to black - to - green looking clouds and then it poured rain, so hard that I couldn't see across the street. Glad that I was home and not out on the highway. In about 10 minutes or so, it moved out.

Ankeny got a ton of rain from what I saw on the radar.

Ye gods and little catfish I don't know how you all live with these storms. I'm afraid to read this for fear one of your towns will be destroyed. Please stay safe. Oh yeah the green skies I remember my Grandma saying the same thing. Tornado sky.

They just upped the warnings for us this afternoon. Hail and the whole box of possibilities. Our skies turn yellow before tornadoes but the storms are due after 4 pm so that clue probably won't be visible. Stay safe everyone.
