Our magnetic shield is down by 40% from 1859. Four high intensity and long duration CMEs can cause the magnetic shield to not block out enough of the solar energy to stop damage to our grid. There are four CMEs coming and will hit earth this weekend. I hope everyone is prepared. If nothing happens no harm no foul.
Perhaps your air got cleaner?I have my doubts. First off there was just about no one on the planet at that time even knew it happened. As far as I know it only affected telegraph systems, and that wasn't universal world wide. There wasn't the slightest bit of equipment in existence that could monitor or record anything whatsoever.
So it is all supposition, all of it, with no data or real world information to back it up. In addition the Sun, our Sol, is NOT the same as it was in 1859. It isn't the same sun we gazed upon 25 some odd years ago. It is now White. It was Yellow during most of my life.
It changed in the 1990's and most people missed it.
The USA and Europe have differing opinions on how large the massive X class CME of 2004 was. There WAS no X class until only very recently.
The Sun has changed.
O.T. EMP devices can be non nuclear...In the main thread DainelBoone said it's now up to five CME's. This does not bode well for our tiny planet.
There was even a very small earthquake here in GA yesterday--in the area near the mtns where they were having all the bad storms. How close are you to any fault lines? I know the Niagra Escarpment goes to the south of where you are at and meets up with the Mid Continental Rift, and of course there's Chicken Bone Lake in MN. And then there's all of those quakes that have been popping off in west Texas, and also New Jersey.
They just said on the nightly news that the "northern lights" would be seen even very far south. (haven't said yet HOW far).I think this needs to be on the main for a few days until these flares are gone, as they are unusual and are starting to become major news items. By the way, I just checked, and the link goes to the start of the entire thread. You want to look at a few stories on the last few pages.
So far, everything seems OK (for now), but this needs watching. On the good side, I have seen predictions of possible spectacular auroras, which we might even see here in Ireland if the clouds clear.
They're about to report on it NOW after the commercial--it's ABC World News tonight. They just said on the nightly news that the "northern lights" would be seen even very far south. (haven't said yet HOW far).
If memory serves---Don't forget the blue/green comet went past the Sun during the eclipse last month. I'm seeing several NA youtube channels referring to it as the blue/green kachina.
And Facebook is deleting them as soon as the posts show up.Wow, all of the weather groups are sharing this all over Facebook!
So, SOMETHING is spooking people and it’s not only us WOO heads paying attention
I don’t know how it would be affected, but I don’t think it’d be good for those on board. If memory serves---
The prophecy was that we first would see the kachina--
then that "a house in the sky" would fall.
What would major CME's like these do to the space station, if anything?
Speaking of faraday cages, I just tried the microwave, wrapping cell phone in aluminum, and our all metal gun safe. All three failed the cell phone test. Tomorrow I may clean out one of my empty galvanized feed garbage can and give it a whorl. I agree with PW, I don't think I will need it THIS TIME but, only God knows.
I believe one mentioned Alabama. They just said on the nightly news that the "northern lights" would be seen even very far south. (haven't said yet HOW far).
On my feed they seem to be staying up?And Facebook is deleting them as soon as the posts show up.
Use Twitter then they dont careNot sure what the bots at Facebook know, however, they keep removing all spaceweather and solarham posts about these incoming CME's, and spanking members for posting false information.
Well, glass half full...that would fix many issues. To be honest if it’s that big of an event phones probably won’t work ever again. See the video I posed in the big thread in the OP, Ben explains it way better than I can. A truly huge solar event will send us back to the Stone Age.
You are absolutely right PW. I just told my husband what you said and he agreed. The faraday cage hunt just ended. One less thing to worry about :-)To be honest if it’s that big of an event phones probably won’t work ever again. Ben put it into a calm sane scenario. The extreme end has a ten percent chance of happening, it’d be a total reset. And not a pretty one.You are absolutely right PW. I just told my husband what you said and he agreed. The faraday cage hunt just ended. One less thing to worry about :-)
How about tinfoil? Works on the mind control beams.
I hope to get to see them here in Iowa, but it’s always cloudy when they happen.Gonna be some great Northern Lights if the skies stay clear and anybody wants to stay up past dark.
Figure that will be the most impressive part of it.
Our glass is too big….Well, glass half full...that would fix many issues.
If the cell sites aren’t hardened it won’t matter. You are absolutely right PW. I just told my husband what you said and he agreed. The faraday cage hunt just ended. One less thing to worry about :-)

Looking forward to seeing the videosI will be posting photos and maybe a livestream on X. I will in Grand Marais MN and traveling northwest from there if needed due to clouds.
Probably gonna see lots of areas without power tomorrow, most of which will be random in nature.
I don’t know how it would be affected, but I don’t think it’d be good for those on board.
Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) are massive releases of plasma and magnetic field from the Sun's corona. If Earth were to be hit by four CMEs in a short time frame, it could have several effects:
The severity of these effects depends on the strength and direction of the CMEs, as well as the Earth's position and its magnetic field orientation at the time of impact. While such events can cause disruptions, modern technology and infrastructure are generally designed to withstand moderate solar activity. However, intense CMEs have the potential to cause significant disruptions, especially in vulnerable regions. It's always a good idea to stay updated on space weather forecasts and any potential impacts they may have on Earth.
- Geomagnetic Storms: CMEs can trigger geomagnetic storms when they interact with Earth's magnetosphere. These storms can cause fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field, potentially leading to disruptions in satellite operations, power grids, and communication systems.
- Auroras: Increased solar activity resulting from multiple CMEs could lead to more intense and widespread auroras, also known as the Northern and Southern Lights. While this is visually stunning, it's a result of charged particles interacting with the Earth's atmosphere and is not harmful.
- Radio Blackouts: CMEs can cause radio frequency interference, leading to disruptions in radio communications, especially in the higher frequency bands.
- Satellite Damage: The increased solar radiation during a CME event can potentially damage satellites in orbit, particularly those without adequate shielding.
- Increased Radiation: CMEs can also increase radiation levels in space, which poses a risk to astronauts and passengers in high-altitude flights.
Try turning the microwave on for 30 seconds or so, then test your phone. I bet that'll fix it.Speaking of faraday cages, I just tried the microwave, wrapping cell phone in aluminum, and our all metal gun safe. All three failed the cell phone test. Tomorrow I may clean out one of my empty galvanized feed garbage can and give it a whorl. I agree with PW, I don't think I will need it THIS TIME but, only God knows.
Can you provide a link? I haven't seen anything about this. There was even a very small earthquake here in GA yesterday--in the area near the mtns where they were having all the bad storms.
