I'm glad that both of you are feeling better!
Yes, spices are a prep! I should get more and learn to use them.
I do use the standard herbs for flavoring: parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. (I know you sang that! LOL). I grow those and dry them in the fall. They are kept in plastic containers. I also grow mint and chives.
Otherwise, it's things like salt, pepper, white pepper, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice (that's its name), Chinese spice blend (also its name), nutmeg, and pickle spice blend. That's what I actually use over the course of a year. I had more, but I ended up either tossing it or giving it away. It just didn't get used.
It looks like I'm going to have a 4-day weekend. The meetings for MLK Day all got canceled due to "illness." (I doubt anyone is that sick, but I do think others are like me and badly need a few more days off for personal projects.) Otherwise, our Friday snow totals keep getting revised upwards: the center of the low is over St. Louis, which tends to bring us a lot of snow up here in Central Iowa. I will prepare for being home for the next few days.
So I'm home for lunch, and I'm taking a quick inventory of anything I'll need. I'll go pick that up in a bit. I ran the dishwasher this morning, and now I've got laundry going. I'll run the mop over the kitchen floor on my way out so it will be dry when I get back. I'm not ready to bike for hours, but it's nice to have some energy back!
