It's time to once again gauge the anxiety members are feeling regarding the current world situation and how they view the relative near-term future.

With a nod to JC Refuge, who developed and created this identical poll the first seventeen times, and to CfI for invaluable assistance, here we go again. The poll will remain up for three days. Your poll responses are private and cannot be viewed, but I encourage you to post your response and why you voted the way you did.

This is the first one of these polls that I cannot answer. I don't know how I feel, AND the issues today are so multifaceted that IMO, it is impossible to come up with a single response.

Are we talking about economic anxiety, terrorist anxiety, election cycle anxiety, business/employment anxiety, inflation anxiety, etc?

See what I mean? Before, I could distill it down and get some kind of overall "gut feeling" about things, but at this point in time, everything seems to be fragmenting worse than I have ever seen, and things are spinning off in different directions. It's just far too mixed overall for me to answer, and THAT really disturbs me....

Good point. I am definitely more worried about the economic and political situation than terrorism at this point.

* Winter is Coming *
The country as a whole is scared and worried about their future - even msm is doomerish nowadays,
the economy sucks - high unemployment, layoffs, business closing, tax revenues down, housing prices sinking, and foreclosures continue,
the political debate in America sucks, real issues are barely addressed,
our leadership sucks - debt ceiling is close at hand with no real talks in progress,
our foreign policy sucks - we bomb Libya and turn our backs on real allies....

The world's on fire, our economy is teetering over the edge, and I see little hope of our country really returning to what our founding fathers intended...

But personally things are fine in my home: my daughter, my husband, our dog are all healthy enough to live life and financially we're OK at the moment.

We make plans, we prep.

We're currently in "project mode"....what we used to do....tinker with this, work on that...home improvement diy type stuff. We haven't really done any projects-diy-type stuff in quite a while. It's good for your head, but it is hard to get started.

So while nothing has really changed, maybe my perspective has.

And it made the poll question harder to answer.

I bet Dennis might've kinda felt a little like this.

I didn't vote -- I am filling some gaps in preps and hoping to get it done in time. So I fall between choice 3 and 4.

We are at war on many fronts. The world economy it in the tank. We are in a double dip recession, IE: depression. Food supplies around the globe are depleated. We have a imposter in the White House who will become more dangerous as it sinks in he will lose in 2012. Nuke problems in Japan and US. Flooding in half our country and extream drought in the South West. Whats to worry about. I'll just go back to the bunker and boil a little rice with some red beans add a little homemade sausage. Next year, if I make it these days will be the good old days.

Right there with you. All of these polls in the past I was able to just click on one and be done with it, but when I opened this one up I just sat here, looking at the screen with a blank look on my face going ..uhh....uhhhh......

Ok, after thinking it over, here's what I've come up with:

I'm in my bunker expecting the worst, but I'm ready, checking the preps and although I'm a bit concerned - I have absolutely no worries.

How does that screw with the data? lol

Freeholder

This too shall pass.
I clicked watchful, ready, checking preps, but really I'm resigned to the fact that we are in the beginning (middle?) of a slow-moving disaster. It's like being stuck in quicksand watching a slow-motion avalanche headed your way. Not a thing in the world you can do to stop it, and in my case, at least, not a whole lot more I can do in the way of prepping than I already have done. It makes me more and more dependent on the Lord, because I KNOW there's nothing *I* can do to save us from what's coming.

Have had a bad feeling in my gut for the past couple of weeks. Too much stress all around us. I've been working part-time for an attorney who does collections and he's more doomerish than most of us, so it might just be listening to him, but more likely just everything seems to be sliding downhill faster and faster.

Hubby's boss got laid off yesterday along with several others in the company. This is their busy season, so that really was a surprise. Talked to the cashier at the grocery store this morning (where things have gone up even more, sigh...) and she was telling us of a very nice looking couple who are customers who both got laid off recently. Also her son-in-law just lost his job.

And yet, on some morning show this morning that hubby had left on, they were all cheerful about how much the economy is recovering. :screw:

Oh, and I voted "glued to the screen" although I don't have time to actually be glued to the screen, but I do expect the worst any day.

That was my vote, even though I don't watch TV. It feels like everything is falling into place.

This is what I feel, too. I checked glued to the sreen, but that is the one thing I am NOT. Too busy not only filling holes in preps, but busy extending our MAG, teaching old time life skills to the young generation. This summer I am doing 'summer school' with the middle school kids of the family here on the ranch -- we are studying the Constitution and Declaration of Indepenence and the founding ideals of our Nation....they sure aren't getting it in gov school. We are also studying Texas history -- especially the Revolution - I fear this is training for what is coming.

We are learning gardening and food preservation, and that food comes from animals - haven't butchered anything yet - not a good idea in 100 degree temps, especialy when you are taking extra time to teach - but the kids have made their own butter and baked bread from scratch and have water canned tomatoes. This is the real geting ready - realizing I am 66 yo with 2 heart attacks. What I know MUST be passed down.

I went with number 4 rather than 3 because now when something does not sound right, or seems suspicious, I ALWAYS go armed, that is the big change from the last poll where I only went armed if I saw a threat.

Waiting for it to come all unraveled, knowing deep down, it will just a matter of when.

Not exactly 'glued' to the screen as I have too much work to do, but checking the computer every time I take a break. I've done all I can to prep. Don't have funds to do more and hoping to sell the farm and move further north. This heat is just too much for me. So don't want to bulk up on preps any more. Easy to be pulled in too many directions, so just trying to trust the Lord and not worry.

God has a plan, Trust it!
I agree with many here. While I am not glued to the news every moment, I am expecting it to fall apart any time now. It could be days, weeks or months from now, but it is coming and I am using any extra time to continue to shore up any holes in my preps the best I can.

I'm in the middle on this poll, but that is because these days I just worry less about all the bad things that could happen. Some biggies have already happened- earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown in Japan, flood or fire + possible nuclear problems in the midwest and southwest- tornadoes, economic problems, etc. etc.

I have disaster fatigue, and while we stay reasonably prepped, personally, some of this stuff is so overwhelming I just expect to die. Never said that here before, but there it is....

It's just at the beginning. Going to get so, so much worse. Speeding up, though. Anyone who isn't prepared is going to be very, very sorry.

Getting closer to the falls, so to speak.

I share Be Well's sentiment: "Getting closer to the falls, so to speak." As Dennis noted above, we are confronted with a complex of issues, and that complicates our decision making. However, ALL of the issue mentioned are very NEGATIVE in outlook, i.e, there is NOTHING positive as we look forward whether you are talking about the economy, or foreign policy.

Therefore, what I see ahead calls for additional prepping, and the strengthing of my understanding of what we must expect in the aftermath of the now enevitable breakdown in the fields of finance, economy, foreign affairs, and domestic order etc. Things are, in my view, going to become very difficult for the American people.

The roar of the water is not so distant, it is the anxiety and nervousness people are experiencing in the very atmosphere, what to speak of the news and the immediate experiences in life.

Yeah kinda felt the same way as far as what to pick, there are so many things going on at once that it is a hard one this time.

The 28th Prepper Anxiety Poll ends up at a score of 1.91, which is exactly what it was for the 27th poll, conducted in February 2011.

As always, thanks for voting and commenting.
