OP-ED Done With Civil Discourse.....

Just got back from Seattle, where I was ever-so-kindly attacked by one of the bluer of the blue blood libs in my family. You know, I try to avoid any political discussion around this person because I know 1) it's a waste of time and 2) it makes everyone else in the family uncomfortable, but this weekend, I decided I was not going to just sit there and let the UC Bezerkly Doctor so and so family member hand me my hat anymore.

We were sitting in a lounge after a family reunion dinner, enjoying each other's company, rejoicing over a new addition to our family, and something came on the bar tv about Gabby Giffords recovery [which, btw, I am thrilled she is getting better], and the family member launches into the whole diatribe about how the Tea Party and Sarah Palin are the root of all evil, ad nauseam, ad infinitum and looks to me for comment.

I told her that I thought the media's handling of the event was absolutely disgraceful, that the left should be run out of my country, and that until we do run the left out, this country is screwed. She, being a nun, says "I'll pray for you", to which I said "Help yourself, lady."

I had to eventually get up and walk away, but that loudmouth liberal ruined a perfectly nice family gathering and I was sick of it. She always does it, too.

Anyhoo, I see this article on the web tonight, and I think to myself "this sums it all up". So....read and enjoy or whatever.

I do not want civil discourse

For a decade, from the election of Bush 43 forward, the Left has lied and cheated as it tried to return to power. Al Gore made a mockery out of the American electoral system by being a spoilsport over Florida, which Bush indeed won by 537 votes. Dan Rather forged a document to try to derail Bush’s re-election. Twice Democrats stole U.S. senators from the Republicans. After voting to support the war to get by the 2002 election, many Democrats quickly soured on the war. The profane protests were cheered by liberals who misattributed “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” to Thomas Jefferson; the words belong to the late historian Howard Zinn.

Once in power, liberals were the opposite of gracious.
For two years now, I have been called ignorant, racist, angry and violent by the left. The very foul-mouthed protesters of Bush dare to now label my words as “hate speech.”

Last week, the left quickly blamed the right for the national tragedy of a shooting spree by a madman who never watched Fox News, never listened to Rush Limbaugh and likely did not know who Sarah Palin is.

Fortunately, the American public rejected out of hand that idiotic notion that the right was responsible.

Rather than apologize, the left wants to change the tone of the political debate.

The left suddenly wants civil discourse.

Bite me.

The left wants to play games of semantics.

Bite me.

The left wants us to be civil — after being so uncivil for a decade.

Bite me.

There is grown-up work to do now. Liberals ran up the federal credit card, destroyed the American medical system and undermined the rule of law — which is the foundation of capitalism — with a bunch of unconstitutional fiats from the president and his bureaucracy.

The economy is a mess. The president “inherited” a 7.6% unemployment rate. It’s now 9.4% — after we spent a record $787 billion on a stimulus.

I was not consulted on that stimulus. I had a very good argument against it. I said the money supply was too large and printing more money would fail. I said let the economic downturn run its course.

Lefties were too busy celebrating the 2008 election to listen.

When people protested lefties made vulgar remarks about tea-bagging and giggled.

So screw you and your civil discourse.

I don’t want to hear it.

I have been screamed at for 10 years.

It’s my turn now. I am not going to scream back. But I refuse to allow anyone to dictate what I say or how I say it. I refuse to allow the same foul-mouthed, foul-spirited foul people who dumped on me to now try to tell me what I may or may not say.

My free speech matters more than the feelings of anyone on the left. You don’t like what I say? Tough.

I will not allow people to label my words Hate Speech or try to lecture me on civility. I saw the lefty signs. The left’s definition of civil discourse is surreal.

We have a terribly unfit president who has expanded government control beyond not only what is constitutional but what is healthy for our freedom.

Indeed, this call for civil discourse is itself a direct threat to my free speech.

So screw you.

You don’t like my words? You don’t like my tone? You feel threatened?

Too bad.

No.

Actually, that is what I want. I want the lefties to feel bad. I want them to feel hurt. I want them to cry to their mommies.

That way the field will be cleared so we grown-ups can fix the nation and the economy. If you can’t put up with a little excrement, get the hell out of the barn.

And my family member wonders why I never call her......

Yup, I have to agree. The hypocrisy of the left knows no limits and they have taken PC to laughable and dangerous levels.

The time for being PC and keeping your mouth shut is over. Stand up for what is right or suffer the consequences of socialism dressed in a donkey suit.

I can relate. My nephew just got married in Austin tx. the whole family was there. Here is the problem, much are from boston and much is from the south. The one of the boston people is a teacher at an ivy league prep school and myself and my uncle are from FL and TX. The discussion almost became a huge argument until we finally just stopped talking.

It is amazing how diametrically opposed our views are on immigration, inner city black entitlements, gun control, health care. Basically most political topics.

Family, you can't live near them and you can't punch them out at a happy celebration.

I guess I'm really blessed. On both sides of my family and in the entire of my wife's family there is not one single lib. Not one. We never have political disagreements of any type.

My neighbors are a different story. Libs to the north and south of me.

No libs in my church, but I know some (very few) professed Christians that vote liberal and love Coke Zero. I ask them about abortion and gay rights, and they mumble something about personal choice, etc., and shut up. They've never been hysterical or profane in their responses, acting civilized.

I live in one of the most conservative areas ever and love it.

I rmember the first Thanksgiving of newly forged family at my newly married daughter's home. There were three generations of adults and we gingerly stepped around conversation until we discovered that all 13 adults were conservatives. Boy, it was like a huge sigh of relief. We have thoroughly enjoyed holidays since then.

Good for you Kozanne for stepping up to the plate with this relative. The next time, if there is one, you might add that: 'You 'just had' to say something, didn't you? Liberals always think they are soooo right!

'If you want to shoot off your mouth; please wait until you get home to allow your friends to listen to your garbage.'

I would have made her feel like a jerk for mouthing off in front of everyone.

Please don't "Be done with civil discourse." Bid your time. Smile, or if you must, laugh. Pride, pretention and arrogance hate laughter. It can be an incredibly effective weapon. It will drive them nuts. You're prepped for what is about to happen. Prepped mentally, physically and spiritually. You have made an attempt to protect and educate yourself and your family... including the "liberal". IMO it is now time to wait and finish the work of prepping for ourselves and families.

When the effluent hits the air circulation device I expect a mass conversion of new born and born again conservatives. When they realize TANSTAAFL someone will have to be the patriarch and matriarch of the family and explain the facts of life and guide the newborns.

The poet said that home is a place that when you go there they got to take you in.

We are stuck with our relatives, I guess. Oddly enough, although my family was at one time solid Demo, George McGovern and those who followed kind of chilled their synapses so they tend to be a little more conservative. So family gatherings don't end up with pistols in the streets.

But they still elected Francken and Dayton......

We live in two Americas folks.

The "seperation" happened long ago. We are no longer sleeping in the same bed. We don't think alike. We don't agree on how to spend money or raise the kids. We have irreconcilable differences.

No amount of counseling is going to fix this.

It is time for a good 'ol fashioned divorce.

We can have a somewhat peaceful divorce or this is going to turn into domestic violence.

Don't you get it?? The SAYING of "I'll pray for you" is INTENDED TO BE AN INSULT. It is INTENDED to be a snarky comment. I couldn't care less if God will "sort it out." It is what it is. I won't take an insult like that without a retort. I WILL NOT give a snarky b*tch/b*stard the last word, and I'd want them to know that I know how the comment was intended, and understand the contempt in which I hold them.

ETA: It doesn't take GOD to figure out which is a genuine offer of prayer and which is an insult. we can do that easily enough.

Know exactly what you mean Old Gray Mare. A belly laugh destroys all liberals that spout the liberal trash except those too dim to understand your laughter. When the KKK was marching in various places around the country a while back, my suggestion was to laugh as they went by and turn your backs to them. The message implicit in those actions is non violent but will crush the miscreants quicker than words or fists ever could. They hate humiliation more than anything.

I also think it aids their understanding of your point if it is said in a sincere tone with a wry smile on your lips. Blows their mind as the message sinks in to even the thickest liberal brain vault.

Yes, I do get it and sometimes people are being self righteous and using God to hide behind to attack with, like in the context of the OP here. God will deal with them. But, other times it's hard to tell if they're sincere or not and I wouldn't want to offend if I wasn't sure of the intention.

As for knowing when people use these terms as insults, if they aren't man or woman enough to come right out and say f' you when that's what they really mean or want to say, then why should anyone care if they are attempting an insult?

When someone is patronizing like that, it can be fun just play along and say thanks and let them feel the failure of not having their insult make an impact, while secretly laughing inside that they are too wussy to say what they really mean.

But if I wasn't absolutely sure then I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

+1000!!!!!

This is why many churches are having LOW attendance, as many churches have became "Social Gathering Places", and the TRUE word of God, in MANY pulpits is NOT being taught.

There are 'Fake" Christians in Many Churches, the Spirit bears witness to this fact.

Church begins in the soul, look inside, it's all there.
Thank you Father, Amen.

Palin: ‘I am not going to shut up’

(CNN) – In her first interview since the Arizona shootings, Sarah Palin Monday sharply beat back critics who have suggested her at-times charged political rhetoric and use of a graphic featuring crosshairs may have contributed to the shooter’s motivations.

“The graphic that was used was crosshairs. That’s not original. Democrats have been using them for years,” Palin said in the interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, where Palin is a paid contributor.

“For many years maps in political races have been used to target certain districts that people would feel that they can get into those districts and find someone to whom they believe would represent the constituents’ will better than the incumbent,” she added.

aint that the truth.

unfortunately the "Mason Dixon line" runs right through the kitchen tables in many homes. otherwise, we could all just move to conservative states and develop new countries based on our principles.

also fortunately, the Left is afraid of guns, so they aren't about to take up arms to make actual war. however, they prefer to get control of the government and make it disarm us and wage war against us with the government's gun to our heads to force us to relinquish our hard-earned monies to pay for the Left's ignorant commie projects.

Free education is worthless.
IMHO very soon we all will be unceremoniously enrolled in SHK also known as the School of Hard Knocks. Some like us already have been downloading the appropriate Crib notes, taking preparatory education courses and are studying as hard as we can. Others are already enrolled due to things like unemployment, under employment, health issues, insurance or lack of insurance issues and foreclosures. Tuition in this institution can be very expensive and whining; "It's not fair!" or "I'm entitled to special treatment because....", will not help in the least. I also believe those who survive to graduate will lead this country to a new renaissance.
