Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to step down?

Several reports are circulating that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to step down to spend more time with her family - and speculations abound that Bill Richardson will replace her.
White House Senior Advisor David Axelrod is talking about implementing significant changes to the White House Cabinet next year - and among the changes receiving notable speculation: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will step down from her post to pursue more time with her family.
If Clinton did abandon her role as secretary of state, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is considered to be the next in line for the position, according to The Korea Times - who cited several sources.
In a report posted on the Conservative blog Classical Conservative, Richardson appeared well aligned for the role.
"Richardson recently stated that he would like a position in the Obama administration after he leaves office," Classical Conservative wrote.
But if the reports prove to be accurate, could Ms. Clinton's decision foretell a presidential run in 2012?
Clinton said in early November that she had no intention of running for president in 2012 or 2016, according to a Reuters report.
President Obama has been experiencing a rebound in polls, according to Politico - and a move by Clinton to step down could potentially open her up to a VP ticket with Mr. Obama. But this is merely speculation.
Mr. Axelrod is expected to announce the White House Cabinet changes when President Obama returns from vacation in Hawaii.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Sunday that Americans shouldn't look for any big changes in President Obama's Cabinet as the new year gets under way.
But two days earlier, senior adviser David Axelrod said "significant changes" will be announced after the president returns from his vacation in Hawaii.
"This is a bubble. It's been an intense couple of years, and there's an advantage to bringing in folks who have a fresh set of senses -- smell, touch and feel -- about what's going on out there," Axelrod told The New York Times in an article published Thursday.

The Washington Examiner reported Saturday that outgoing New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson could succeed Hillary Clinton as secretary of state. Citing "numerous sources" saying Richardson may replace Clinton and wants a job in the Obama administration and Clinton may be interested in taking a break, the paper noted Richardson's recent "unofficial" trip to Pyongyang to try to ease tensions between the North and South Korea.

She'll either run or she will be ready to run (maybe even as VP, though not her first choice I think). I'm not sure she would do an out-and-out challenge if Obama wanted to run for a second term; but she would be in a very good position to pick up the pieces if he didn't or run with him to try to shore up the ticket.

If Clinton does step down.. it might have some implications with what is going on with the Korean Peninsula.

It's likely she disagrees with what appears to be the Obama Administration's hard line stance against the NORKs (especially in light of her husband's Administration's policy of appeasement).

It also gives her a political advantage if she decides to run in 2012 as she can say she opposed Obama's policies towards it. Especially if it gets warmer there...

Politically it fits...

Hmm... to be a fly on the walls...

I wonder if she will be labeled as a "quitter"? :lkick:

IMHO this is normal for the white house staff to go through changes as such. It is not customary for a governor ... and I believe the key word here is "elected" to quit the office they are voted into.

Perhaps she just want's to write a few books and have a TV show ... it seems to be the popular thing right now.

I'd love to see Clinton and Palin go at each other ... that I would pay to watch.

Changing cabinet members is not all that rare.

Heck even Sara Palin stepped down before her Gov. term was up, that was a bigger deal than this.

Maybe she is stepping down to prepare for what's coming. Just like Larry King and Oprah calling it quits.

If she does it's for one of two reasons. Either she knows the SHTF is coming really soon and she wants to be out of the limelight or she is making a way for a 2012 run. That is her primary prize that she has had gleaming in her eyes for years, that way the cabal can continue. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Obama, Clinton.......

BHO's only hope for re-election is with Hillary on the ticket. That would then give her an easy pathway to nomination in 2016. Saves her a ton of $$ and bloodletting in primary campaigning

I wonder if a Clinton/Palin ticket would be Obama or anybody else....is would seem messed up to see a dem/rep run together but it considering how mad people are right now, anything is possible.

Can you think of any other governor who was bombarded with frivolous lawsuits, all of which were THROWN OUT, all of which took precious time and resources (from the state as well as from the governor, personally), and who was so relentlessly attacked by people with agendas but no real meat?

If so, please name that governor.

You can't think of one?

That's what I thought.

Palin Derangement Syndrome.

My very first prediction when Obama came on the scene was for a Obama/Clinton combo; looks like I may have been one term early. I believe this combo would be a serious threat.

Question: Can a president hold office for one term, and then hold office as VP in the next term? If that's legal, then that would be another option, albeit strange.

I wonder if a Clinton/Palin ticket would be Obama or anybody else....is would seem messed up to see a dem/rep run together but it considering how mad people are right now, anything is possible.
I agree, I also see this as a serious possibility. These elite PTB don't play by the rules that most think they do. The one sure fire way to lock America down into a permanent police state and destroy what's left of our freedoms is for the two 'teams' to work together; then you don't even have the 'lesser of two evils' anymore; it's just plain old Tyranny.

So yeah, Palin/Clinton in 2012 after Obama has self destructed, and scarred the democrat party. The people are too brainwashed to figure out what that would mean until it's all over. Very real possibility. Just look at Obama's flip flop rhetoric which has upset the Dems even further; his 'desire' to work with the Republicans. These could be the very first steps to a single party tyranny in this country.

Hilliary has some undeclared offshore banking issues, that are coming to light. I wish I could find the stories again. Googled but no luck.

Anyways the gist of it is, that she has some suspicious/interesting/intriguing benefactors who keep the accounts full for her.

I ran across a couple stories about this awhile back, month or two, and both articles stated that she will be stepping down soon due to that fact, and not running again.

The articles stated that supposedly if she goes quietly and leaves politics for good, it will all be swept under the rug.

Quite a while back, I read somewhere to keep an eye on what the elite and politicians do. When they start leaving their offices and jobs for no really good reason, make sure you have all your preps ready to go.

That would be a signal that tshtf very soon.

And quite a few are abandoning their posts. Wouldn't be surprised if we hear of a lot more. Even O'bama is acting very strange. (more than usual)

Wow ... did I hit a nerve? Yeah ... and just think of all the money she saved them .... how could I have forgotten? I'm not even going to bother with addressing your response as it is pointless. Just remember Palin was "elected" to her position, Hillary was not.

Yep ... Palin makes me want to .....:kk2: Me thinks Hillary would have zero problems debating Sarah. I can't wait until they get to the foriegn policy debate. Maybe they can have tea & cookies at the Palin home and discuss Alaska's border with Russia ...

And for what it's worth I won't vote for Obama even if Hillary is on the ticket, nor would I ever consider voting for Palin. Hillary vs Palin .... Oh that's gonna be fun!!

Thats because she was being attacked from all sides from both parties and to protect her family and a few other things she had to quit and they were stunned that she did that as they could get their way with her.

Obama = Dem Pres nominee
Hillary = Dem VP nominee with Obama support in four years for Pres

Thereby trumping the "femaleness" of Palin with the experience and "femaleness" of Clinton. Also regaining the support of the Clintonites who felt betrayed during the last nomination process.

With that combo, Clinton never has to debate Palin and can marginalize her from afar, sniping from the sidelines, as it were, while Obama uses his charm and accomplishments (as abhorrent as they are to the rest of us) to wear Palin down.

The published Wikileaks is what done her in and can't be trusted, now no country will work with her and the UN thing also, what a hoot and it the best thing that can happen next to obama being shown the door.

I have thought for sometime that Obama would forgo a run for re-election. He has too many secrets that would now have to come to light (Where's the birth certificate, and his homosexual behavior). Several States have instituted a requirement for a candidate for President to provide their Secretary of State with proof that the candidate is eligible under the Constitution to serve in the Office.

I don't think Zero can pass muster. If Hilary leaves mad she will certainly run in 2012. If Zero is forgoing a run for reelection she will certainly run for the Presidency.

It is possible that she knows of Zero's plans, and is leaving early to begin her campaign. Her being in the race early would likely scare off any other Democrat hopeful.

IMO,

Hit a nerve? Asking for facts is "hitting a nerve"?

The only nerve that's been hit is yours. The derangement is worse than I thought. And I see you don't have an answer to my very simple question.

But of course I knew that before I asked. And I really don't care who you would or would not vote for. Your little stab at changing the subject a la Alinsky, isn't working. I asked a very simple question that you can't answer.
