A would be robbery in Kanawha County had the tables turned when he went to hold up a video-lottery parlor early Wednesday morning.

Kanawha County Deputies say the suspect had his face covered with a bandana and was armed with a shotgun when he burst into Theresa's Cafe in Pinch, ordering everyone to the floor and demanding money.

"As soon as the patrons hit the floor, one employee retrieved a .44 caliber and quickly stood up firing a shot striking the subject in the arm and torso area," said Kanawha County Chief Deputy Johnny Rutherford. "The suspect then immediately fled the store, apparently quite surprised."

Yep up in that end of the county everybody has a gun rack and with it close to hunting season probably a gun in it.

My question is, with even a .44spl not a .44mag, why isn't this goblin taking a dirt nap???

Because there are no magic bullets and ANY handgun is not all that powerful - despite the hype.

Also - the human body is amazinly resiliant.
People have been shot with 12 gauge SLUGS in the torso and survived

Adrenilin (I know, my spelling is awful today) is an amazing substance also.

If more of the so called normal person on the street carried there would be so much less of this kind f thing.
When you out law guns only the out laws will have guns. Ask the Australians.

Yeah, I know the employee didn't eliminate his target. But the fact that the jerk was "surprised" that anyone would be armed and ready to fight back gave me a chuckle. Overall, it was a good message to get out.

Because handguns are not death rays, the Brady Bunch hysteria notwithstanding. About 80% of humans shot with handguns survive the experience.

And no, it wouldn't have been any different with a .45. Or a .46, if they made one. Two things count where bullets are concerned- PENETRATION and PLACEMENT. Not much else matters.

Main thing is, if the majority of attempted thuggery ended this way, there'd be a LOT less practicing thugs. Get armed, people, and get trained...
