LONDON, September 1, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – One of Britain’s leading homosexualist activists has called again for the lowering of the age of sexual consent from 16 to 14, saying that this will reduce incidents of sexual abuse of young people. Peter Tatchell, founder of the group OutRage!, wrote on the website Big Think, “Whether we like it or not, many teenagers have their first sexual experience around the ages of 14 or 15.”

“If we want to protect young people, and I do, the best way to do this is not by threatening them with arrest, but by giving them frank, high quality sex and relationship education from an early age.

“This includes empowering them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to say no to unwanted sexual advances and to report sex abusers. Compared to the blanket criminalization of sexually-active under-age youth, this empowerment strategy is a more effective way to protect young people from peer pressure and pedophiles.”

A higher age of consent actually puts young teens at greater risk of abuse by “reinforcing the idea that young people under 16 have no sexual rights,” Tatchell said. “They signal that a young person is not capable of making a rational, moral choice about when to have sex.”

What it will reduce is the number of arrests and convictions for violating a minor, not the actual assaults. 14 legal, 13 legal. Anything under 18 should be a capital offense.

Notice the neat little deflection to a non-existant issue. The KIDS are never arrested for having "underage sexual activity." I've NEVER heard of that. Only the adults. So as others have said, this perv just wants legal access to youger victims. But, you know, "it's for the children..."

not true, dennis. there have been a number of postings over the years about 18yo boys that will live as sex offenders for the rest of their lives because they had sex w/their underage girlfriend.

The original "Gay" Rights platform in 1972 called for an ELIMINATION of all age of consent laws (as well as elimination of laws about the sexes or numbers of people in a marriage).

This has been their goal all along, but they realized they had to muffle the message a bit until the public was de-sensitized.

My comp is dying so I don't have access to my files; I have the 1972 "Gay" Rights platform that states this. Also admitted to me by actual homosexuals in the early 90s.

A hidden goal, introduce the "consenting" 14 yr old to the homo life style and he may stay for life.

There seems to be some evidence floating around that if not introduced, the vast majority never will, haven gotten over it when they discovered girls.

In February 1972 the National Coalition of Gay Organizations met at the Armitage Avenue United Methodist Church in Chicago. An invitation had been sent out to 495 homosexual organizations across the U.S. to come and prepare a "gay stance for the 1972 elections."

About 200 individuals from 18 states representing 85 organizations showed up for the two-day event. Conference participants adopted the 1972 Gay Rights Platform, which included 17 federal and state "demands."

For over 30 it has been the beacon of the homosexual movement in America. Back in 1972 their demands seemed so outlandish that nobody took them seriously. But gay activists have been extremely focused and relentless in achieving their goals. (Notice the bottom goal on the list.)

It gives an interesting perspective. If someone back then had suggested that we would be discussing this subject today and in the position we're in, it would not only have been considered unbelievable, it truly would have been beyond the ability of the average person to imagine it.

Federal:

Amend all federal Civil Rights Acts, other legislation and government controls to prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and public services.

Repeal all state laws prohibiting solicitation for private voluntary sexual liaisons; and laws prohibiting prostitution, both male and female.

Enactment of legislation prohibiting insurance companies and other state-regulated enterprises from discriminating because of sexual orientation, in insurance and in bonding or any other prerequisite to employment or control of one's personal demesne.

Enactment of legislation so that child custody, adoption, visitation rights, foster parenting, and the like shall not be denied because of sexual orientation or marital status.

Repeal of all laws prohibiting transvestism and cross-dressing.

Repeal of all laws governing the age of sexual consent.

A man named Alfred Kinsey taught us that raping children was a good way to prove that children enjoyed being molested by evil men. David Kupelian wrote about the rewriting of morals and values in America in a book titled "The Marketing of Evil".

This part from the book really helps define the modern "anything goes" movement:

In 1973 the Supreme court opened the floodgates on legal abortion in America. Two generations have been raised under a false understanding of what being "human" really means.

We should be teaching our children how to be dealing with their sexual urges. We are not animals. I know certain people want to try and convince America that we are, but we are not.

A segment of society wants to convince the world that we can't help what we do because we are born to do those things. It's the age-old "good is bad" "bad is good" thing. They want you to get confused and question your morals and values long enough to change the laws of the land. They have learned to say things that will make you feel sorry for them and start to consider their arguments.

Several years ago we had a homosexual NDP (socialist) member of parliament, Svend Robinson, who for some years tried to get the age of consent for homosexuals lowered to 14. It had always been 18. I heard from several sources that he actually wanted homosexual sex legal at 12. Thank God that didn't happen.
Fortunately, the Conservative government of Stephen Harper raised the age of consent for heterosexual sex from 14 to 16.
We have found in Canada that Conservatives have a far more pro-family agenda than the Liberals or NDP.

Unfortunately, I don't see this as only a homosexual agenda problem. I think men in general tend to be attracted to younger women biologically. That, paired with early onset of puberty in girls, and some cultural customs that I've personally witnessed in my area in the Latino community, where very young girls are dressing very provocatively and their mothers are not averse to very young girls getting pregnant and having babies (without the father's present) I see as a big problem. Society in general has changed.

I go to the store to purchase clothing for my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter, and I find half-shirts and mini-skirts! And obviously, someone is buying this stuff, because it continues to show up on the shelves!

Maybe the very best sex education we can provide for our children, both male and female, is mandatory infant sitting at the middle-school age, so that they can fully understand the difficulties of taking care of a child, and the ramifications of sex. No need to lecture, just a reality lesson. We, as parents also need to stop giving our children every toy and item that they want, stop letting them watch all the garbage on TV and in the movies, and discuss with them that the kind of behavior they are seeing is immoral and not "real life". I am far, far from a prude, but even I can't watch TV anymore without being embarrassed or disgusted. The sexualization of very young people desensitizes our children just as much as the violence and gore. These are not things we want to do to our kids. This is much bigger than a "homosexual" problem. It is a societal problem, and until we put action behind our words, it will continue.

I agree Sligo. I spent quite some time pondering this after I got involved in the last board discussion and also came to many of the same conclusions you've discussed here. I think what most people find disturbing is the ramifications society has on children. It's so hard to raise children in a world that's so oversexualized that society is no longer a child appropriate place.

We witness the obscene when shopping, but then we have to send them to school where they're surrounded by kids who's moms let their kids wear the "cutie a@@" pants and thong underwear.

Now my son complains he's the only kid at school without a cell phone, and we all know what happens when kids have unsupervised use of cell phones with cameras, innapropriate pics would find their way onto the phone. Then my kids are left feeling deprived because they don't get the toys other kids have. I tell him be glad he has a mom who loves him enough to not let him get brain cancer from cell phone radiation, but he doesn't find much consolation in that.

Agree +++ 100%! My neighbour and I were discussing this just last week-the way our girls try to dress and sneak by us wearing some of these clothes to school-we don't buy them the short shorts- BUT they borrow them from friends and then change at school!!

The culture encourages this and it takes a VERY strong-willed and self-confident girl to resist the pressures to dress inappropriately. Dressing conservatively is associated with being a "nerd" or a "geek".

Now my son complains he's the only kid at school without a cell phone, and we all know what happens when kids have unsupervised use of cell phones with cameras, innapropriate pics would find their way onto the phone. Then my kids are left feeling deprived because they don't get the toys other kids have. After our daughter had her cell stolen TWICE, and we took it away from her for inappropriate messages that people were sending her, we had peace in this house for several months, and it was wonderful.
Then her older sister went and signed a contract for her to get a replacement.....
There is NOTHING that is a worse distraction for teenaged girls-that blasted thing is beeping every two seconds with a text message or Facebook notification from someone! I keep praying someone will steal it again.

Going back to this comment, my daughter was very pretty even in "mom approved" clothing that sometimes old men would stare at her. When I caught them I would stand between her and them so they couldn't see her well. When she was about 15, one day we were browsing in the toy dept. and I told her that old man is staring as I stepped in his line of sight and she took me by surprise and shouted "WHAT ARE YOOOOUUUU LOOOOOOKING AT!!!???" He quickly left andI busted out laughing. That was such a proud mommy moment!!! ...now if I could only get her to scream at boys her own age like that! lol

The [Canadian] Criminal Code does not now criminalize consensual sexual activity with or between persons 14 or over, unless it takes place in a relationship of trust or dependency, in which case sexual activity with persons over 14 but under 18 can constitute an offence, notwithstanding their consent.

This of course means that there's no teacher / student relationships that won't get "zinged"
