checking in...
Funny, I was just thinking about this thread - glad you started it.
It's now dark - the wind has picked up some more. I like being able to see what is blowing or floating down the sound during a storm. Oh well!

Here is a site you can follow this storm from Kittyhawk! They have been keeping in touch with nightline, and the weather stations! They are going to be running 24/7 until the storm is over! http://www.ustream.tv/channel/hurricanetrack-com
It's pretty dark out there now, and the guy is driving around telling what is going on for now. Better view in the morning!

Give this a bump; We're not going to see much of this but may be some much needed rain.

Just looked at Yahoo News and they don't have to much to say as yet until it passes NC and see what damage its done, They're saying the winds are now picking up on the state line of Virginia so we may see a little increase in wind with rain inland where I'm at.

He's Here!

Rocking n rolling with Earl. Woke up about 5 am to the sound of wind and rain pounding at our windows. It's quite dark. We can see 1 pretty good size branch down (right where our kayak would have been).
Local news has reported some power outage - we went ahead and made some coffee - priorities!
Apparently Hwy 12 south of Oregon Inlet bridge is currently impassable - probably ocean overwash - no real surprise there.
The news reporter in Hatteras was reporting via Skype for the TV news - they were showing the visual - pretty cool till the lost the connection.
Starting to get light - less "scary" when you can see what is going on!

We heard from our son at Camp Lejuene, NC.
He said he was prepared: he had a candle to find the bottle of whiskey and would rescue the 10 cans of beer from the refrigerator before they went bad.

I hate wasting perfectly good beer!

Doesn't look like he'll have to hunker down.

Gin and eens, I'm on the road. Presently visiting Vicki in NY state. My blog addy is below.

See you at Christmas?
