I'm letting him do it as opposed to doing it myself. I know that with all the crap going on these days, we're all wound WAY too tight. (I know that *I* am.) So relax, breathe, and let's let Buff learn the job, k?

I was confused over the closing too. Just got back and was reading along in the thread, got to the end and noticed the thread was closed for seemingly no reason.
Perhaps it would be good to remind everyone of what it takes to close a thread. Also, what kinds of warnings should occur before a thread is closed, etc.?

The LOCK button is present on EVERY POST in EVERY THREAD if you are a MOD and is a one mouse/key stroke opperation...
UN locking is a horse of a different color and actually requires several steps IIRC.

It's open. I don't understand the hullabaloo about moving it to another page...when you are a member (and signed in), you see all the pages--not just the main page. I never notice which page a thread is on...I see them all.

Then, with respect, that was a poor call.
As seasoned posters and "investigators", we manage quite well to police ourselves. In searching for answers, we may or may not always get the "truth" right off but there have been threads on this server going back dozens of pages where answers are sought, speculation is made and perhaps the truth is never actually discovered.
That is what was happening on the thread that was moved.
If a change in policy has been made with regard to how this board is to be run then the members should be made aware.
And, I do use the term MEMBERS quite literally.
I do not believe it should ever be forgotten that some of us actually support this forum with $$ and as such, not only deserve answers but should demand them when necessary.

(BTW- I am happy too see a Mod with a slightly different POV- buff and I do not always agree but he is very responsive to decent dialog.)

Well...... No one asked me, and my opinion is worth nothing but I have to agree moving the thread was an over reaction. Buff in my observations tends not to like anything that you can't wrap up in bow to prove it's not of the woo woo tribe. Many of the things on the front page have had less supporting evidence. Buff will have a learning curve as a mod, Buff and the rest of us will all have to just have patience as we get used to the new buff/us relationship. It ain't nothing but a thing gang we've gotten past much bigger obstacles in the past and buff is one of us. As long as Sat keeps control of the Ban Hammer we'll all be okay.

He's obnoxious, stinky, doesn't know a thing about BBQ, plays golf, likes football, can't hold his booze, doesn't dig on woo woo stuff, has poor taste in art, level headed thinking is his downfall, poor dresser, bad taste in vehicles, can't add 2 plus 2 without a calculator and five people backing him up, doesn't own a gun, but owns a slingshot (he can't locate rocks' though), smells his finger when he picks his ear, secretly masturbates to Jim Neighbors singing, AND in all likelihood tried to become a paid shill and detractor for the NSA, but didn't make the grade.
Other than that, he's a cool guy.

The Laredo thread is a good thread... Lots of discussion, and you can see by the may 2009 Houston article posted, that the zeta & ranch problem is real and known. The flow of the thread is interesting... information/disinformation/etc. We are going to be seeing a lot more of this in the media/news/etc. Eventually it's going to come down to people who were there to see/verify if something happened or not... just like the Iranian counter revolution a few months back... the people there became the only reporters. That's what this board and it's threads are about, eh?

that's what a "standard" 90-day probationary period is for and if they can't hack it in that time, they don't contiue in that position! A business and the forum IS a business, cannot afford to have an "employee" who offends the "customers" and said business expect to grow and survivie, especially in these tough times.
